I have not posted here in ages - I wanted to finish the game first and I got hit with the slow bug (which meant I had to restart both my ongoing mage/rogue games at the end of act II - sigh).
I am gleefully catching up and I am officially declaring myself a fangirl for posterity.
So far, I went with the Rivalmance with Fenris, I really enjoy the way it develops. Next is going to be down the friendship path.
Which one do you enjoy more?
Just wondering...

I always wondered if the comment Zevran says "I usually prefer women" if he says "prefer men" if a male Warden.

Waiiiit. There's a bug that slows down... say, combat?
And I prefer friendmance. On a mage. Because it's so damn sweet.

@Autumntye
I've gotten that dialogue on my friendmance mage and rivalmance rogue-- but both were females. My only male!Hawke that I've run romanced Merrill, so I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have gotten that dialogue.

Hi, guys. This is my first post, but I've been lurking here for ages.
I've now romanced Fenris with both male and female Hawkes. (Translation: I've hit it forward, backward and sideways.) Anyway, I noticed during my F!Hawke playthrough that there was an interesting dialogue with Fenris about his sexual history (the fact that he doesn't remember having been with anyone before or since escaping).
That convo option didn't appear for me in either of my M!Hawke playthroughs, and I'm wondering if it's because I was rivalmancing, or if it was left out of the male romance for some reason.
Anyone know?
I have no idea, but now I want to find out.
It is in the rivalmance. But I've only played fem!Hawkes. That actually surprises me, that it's not in a male!Hawke's romance.

No, he says that for male characters too. Origins had a different take on character sexuality- less subjective to the PC. I much prefer it that way myself, so I just go on thinking the characters are whatever they are taking both male and female Hawkes into account, i.e. they're all bisexual. This "maybe they are, maybe they aren't" makes my head hurt.SilverSentinel wrote...

They're both fantastic. If I had to choose... His reactions are better to the gifts in a friendmance, and I think he actually changes more with a friend than with a rival, but the rivalmance is so sweet. He and Hawke fall in love despite themselves. I actually think Fenris' romance works a little better as a rivalmance as those three years, to me, are a little more understandable. They try SO hard to stay away from each other, but in the end... they just cannot stay away!

I'm not sure I like the idea of your actions retconning the character's backstory. Like Fenris saying he hasn't been with anyone if romanced, and telling Isabela "it's been known to happen" (getting rid of his armor during sex) if not.

It's a bit rough just like Fenris and even the lyrics fit to the relationship of Hawke and Fenris

This surprises me too, as it seems like a fairly essential part of his character. I replayed the scene with both my male Hawkes and can't get that option to trigger. Wonder if it's a bug or something they left out intentionally for whatever reason. Hmm.

Just because he doesn't remember sleepin with anyone, doesn't mean him taking off his armor hasn't been known to happen! Its not a ret-con, its a truth with the heat of inuendo ;p He HAS INDEED taken his armor off before. He just hasn't yet done it (that he remembers) for 'fun teim'

While the lines are different, Zevran definitely says to both males and females that he prefers women. His line for males is, "Given my druthers I would say I prefer a soft and shapely woman, but I know what I am. I will not discount anyone solely because of what someone else tells us is right or wrong." (looked it up)
And Fenris does NOT say he has never had sex with anyone. Even if he's talking about sex (and to me, that conversation sounded like closeness or caring for someone, NOT sex), he says he has no memories of before, and has not let anyone close since he escaped.
Fenris does not strike me as virginal. His approach to Hawke was too assured -- his getting together with isabela where she talks about how good a lover he is... same thing. I was actually surprised that people thought he was talking about being a born again virgin on the forums -- I had to replay the conversation to see if I missed something.

And, so true. I saw a tweet of his yesterday and thought HARK, VOICE OF FENRIS SPEAKS. But then I still do that every time I see one for Steve Valentine/ Alistair.

His line for males is something like, "If I had my druthers I'd say I prefer the curves of a woman, but I'm not about to let society dictate what's right." That's not it exactly, but I'm too lazy to open the toolset to look it up.
And Fenris does NOT say he has never had sex with anyone. Even if he's talking about sex (and to me, that conversation sounded like closeness or caring for someone, NOT sex), he says he has no memories of before, and has not let anyone close since he escaped.

Not to mention his party banter with Isabela. I think Fenris has had sex before, but not with anyone he cares deeply about.

A matter of interpretation then. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?" sounded to me like they were definitely talking about sex!
