I agree, age and slight changes in appearance are likely moot by the time Fenris gets over his issues. Hawke is Hawke, Fenris is Fenris, and that's all that matters. Yup, romantic me is romantic. Hopelessly so.
Oddly enough, Namuri, I've found that Isabela responds to a Diplomatic overture now and then, as long as the subject is on a personal level. In fact, she's given higher Friendship in such cases, too, even if I preferred the Snarky vocal responses for pure entertainment value. But then I'm paranoid when it comes to companion conversations. I always save right before and explore every option until I find the one I want. Not very immersive, I admit, but then I'm on my third PT. I can afford to be fussy.
XD I usually go for snark, and if that makes them /really/ annoyed (which happens rather rarely with Fenris for some {awesome} reason) I'll go back and be slightly more diplomatic. The only person I'm almost always diplomatic with is Aveline. And I'm usually a bit of a jerk to Anders. Everyone else gets snarky almost constantly XD;
But yea, she also reacts well to diplomacy, however being playful with her in ACT1 is a really good way to get friendship points, cause she doesn't know you well enough to talk about personal things.
I am addicted to snarky fem!Hawke. The world just gets so bleak in later chapters that I cling to whatever I can find of lightheartedness, and she fills a big portion of that need. Plus, her humor practically mirrors my own, which is icing on my goofy cake. It's great that snarky tends to be the middle route that most of the companions don't get too upset with, barring Aveline's scolding when used in awkward situations. *cough* Vicount's son. *cough* Fenris with a snarky Hawke is, for lack of a better word, precious. Snarky Hawke gets the Fenris to chuckle! Epic achievement achieved!
I can't bring myself to be jerky to Anders. I know that he's changed to a "Dear Maker, man, CALM DOWN!" level, but I adored him in Awakenings and occasionally see a glimmer of the man he once was. That's enough for me to hold back and just mutter unpleasantries under my breath rather than will my Hawke to smack him upside the head.
Isabela + snark gets memorable lines that make perfect sense to someone like me. Such as the repeat of the "I like big boats". Couldn't of said it better myself.
.. aaand I ran with that a little too long. Sorry about that.
Her humor reminds me of my own, too. Although my habit is usually to take things too literally, on purpose, to mess with people ^^;
Very true, snarky does = nuetral, most of the time, ^.^
And yea, when I saw the 'look on the bright side' paraphrased line for snarky I was like....

[clicks diplomatic]
I am so happy I'm not alone thinking that, about them as a couple. Snarky Hawke is just /so playful/ even in the face of everything. I think Fenris would be a grump just because, of course, but he does like Snarky!Hawke. Which makes sense, considering the fact that he's a snarker in disguise >D
I tried to go easy on Anders, but sometimes he's just a jerk. And I want him to be quiet, esp. when he goes on and on about mages. My Hawke knows that what's happening to mages is bad SHE. IS. A. MAGE. Preaching, choir. Come on, man. {And even with this char, I friendmanced Fenris 8D; } I did love his flashes of wit, but that's what they were, flashes. Made me sad. Still, when he said: 'They made me get rid of my cat D<' I lol'd

One thing though, that I like about Snarky Hawke, one of the reason I keep playing her is, when Leandra is dying, there's a sarcastic option, and it goes:
Of course mother, I'll be fine. I always... save the day.
Or something similar. And it's said with a choked voice. It was amazing. >>
//ends Snark! fangirling.
Oh, but yes, Isa + snark = love
I like big boats, I cannot lie, /really/ Isabela?
Lord I said snark way too many times X3
eta: Look! we both ran too long!
