Aww, thanks y'all. I was pretty nervous with my first 'elf back' version.
Namuri: I have always loved the sketchy look. I tend to do most of my work in an 'unfinished' way.Sometimes I hit upon a drawing that begs completion, though. And yes, his back is fairly broad there, huh? I think that its because a little voice in the back of my head is screaming "He wields a freakin' claymore! Come ON!"
And its hard to be anatomically correct with very slim people. Not impossible, but harder to get right on paper.
And wildannie, I wasn't intending on finishing this one, but perhaps it is one of those aforementioned drawings that might beg me to do so. I like it, even though finishing it would require me to redraw a lot of appendages. There's a lot of foreshortening here that needs cleaned up REALLY bad.
ETA: what needs to be forshortened, I don't see anything :/
Weeeeell....since you asked.
Fen's upper arm is too long. Angled badly. His head is not at the right angle. Hair is a bit too poofy. Hawke's right arm is all sorts of messed up. The hands need work. Her torso is too elongated for her slouch. Her left elbow is placed badly. Fen's left hip is deformed. Hawke's shoulder is too bunchy.
That's off the top of my head. Like I said, getting proportions right is easier with a model.
I always strive for anatomically believable drawings, even if I exaggerate what is already there. There's a fine line between exaggeration and inconceivable proportion.
