I could see it going either way. The way that he reacts to some things(as well as a few things he says) makes it seem like it's something he's experienced before, but at other times it seems only like something he's familiar with, though not "personally"...ejoslin wrote...
This conversation is happening when it's obvious feelings are growing between them. So what could be different? I think he IS talking about sex with Hawke having meaning, not just having sex.
I'm sorry, he just does NOT come off as virginal to me. Born again or otherwise.
Edit: I think a lot of people read "virgin" into this because the leading question is pretty much the same as what you ask Alistair when you ARE asking if he's a virgin. But the context is different with Fenris.
I can also, oddly perhaps, see Hadriana pulling something with him.

I think it's obvious, though I possibly maybe may be wrong but, he says he's never let himself get close to anyone (he wouldn't do a one night stand) and if there's been someone else he doesn't remember... therefore his past life beside he IS a virgin... until you take that from him (; Also they were talking about not just relationship but sex too because when Hawke is like let's try or something he's like maybe another evening... I think.

It's just that if they actually were talking about SEX, it would seem that the question after he says he has no memory of before would be if he has any memories of after the markings -- not after his escape. Does that make sense? It would be obvious that he hadn't been in a relationship while he was a slave, which is why Hawke would question about before the markings and after he escaped.
I'm not sure I worded that clearly.
Edit: And Fenris had no issue with having meaningless sex with Isabela. Which is another reason I think he probably had had sex, just not been actually close to someone.
I quoted the line, where he says with hawke it may be different and when Hawke says he/she is willing, Fenris demurs. However, he says it would be different with Hawke -- that to me sounds like he's talking about a physically intimate relationship -- one with feelings involved, not something meaningless or expected.
Another edit:
Fenris: I... have never allowed anyone too close.
Fenris: When my markings were created, the pain was... extraordinary. And the memory lingers.
Fenris: But you are unlike any woman I have ever met. With you it might be different.
Hawke: We could find out.
Fenris: On another evening, perhaps.
They are talking about sex, and how sex may be different with Hawke than it has been for him in his past. At least that's how it sounds to me.
Since the time of him being a slave is completely skipped over, I really wonder what is just being assumed there. I hate Hadriana, I hate Denarius -- just ugh :/
Second edit: Another reason I want a toolset is I really REALLY want to see the scripting comments!

And when I picture his possible past, I always thought there was someone, someone he may have liked a lot that he either was with or he never got a chance to tell her/him. I do think he's got experiences in the past, I find it hard to believe if there was no one

And I agree that the relationship with Izzy has some depth to it. They must be very good friends at the very least.

I don't think his and Isa's sex isn't meaningless. I mean, they only get together in act three, after, what, six years? I'm not saying they're like what he and Hawke can be like. but I think that it's sex between two people who care about each other, just not love, he /trusts/ Isa. It's done for the enjoyment, but still. It's not 'just sex'.
You think? I thought it seemed pretty meaningless. Isabela doesn't have sex for love (except Hawke) or even feelings. The banter sounded like it happened once, but she wanted it again, so he was going to get together with her for a second time. I dont think their friendship was meaningless, but I think the sex was.

I'm decided on the issue, at least for my own opinion. I just can't see Fenris as being sexually inexperienced. He likely encountered such situations both before and after the ritual that gained him his markings. Positive relationships, however, are what I think he's been lacking. The memories of family and possible friends were taken from him, and then Denarius became his focus for years. I can't see much allowance in there for the development of intimacy, unless you count his master and his master's apprentice ... which makes my insides twist into fist-sized knots. Ugh!
Anyway, there you have it.
Edit: I agree with Namuri on the Fenris/Isabela debate. She summed up my thoughts on the matter pretty darn well.

I don't think- err... I don't think they had sex with feelings either, they don't love eachother. But they still /care/ for eachother. Fenris doesn't trust easily, and even if it was with someone as noncommitted as Isa, he'd still have to have a lot of trust to want to do that with her.
So, it wasn't meaningful sex, but niether was it meaningless.
...
Makes sense to me, at least
edit: making another PT, and just got to the end of ACT's side quests. Talking with Leandra about Carver.
Leandra: You I understand wanting to go, but please, leave your brother here
YOU MAKE ME FEEL SO LOVED.
Just say:
Leandra: You are expendable, I love your younger brother/sister more.
And be done with it D<

"Mother, you gave me THAT LOOK that screams 'This is all your fault!', and now you're saying you're proud of me and that I shouldn't take the blame?" *flounders!*
Not that I'm not grateful she chooses to do the latter, but still. It's no wonder Hawke has issues.
Edit: It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my opinion, Victia.

I always thought MAge!Hawke was a little messed up, from the get go, I mean, her mother totally blames her for Bethany's death. And Carver is... Carver. Leandra has such favoritism towards the twins, I can only hope that Hawke was her daddy's little girl, or something. Which would have made loosing her father worse. Then Carver dies/something bad happens to him. Hawke gets blamed for that. Leandra dies, and even though Hawke gets some closure with her mom in those final moments.
Well, I always thought that my Hawke had a complex about failing people. Since, while she's been able to help plenty of strangers, she can't seem to protect the people close to her.
Which is why you do /not/ kidnap Fenris.
Ever.

I think I'm going to have to consider that song to Fenris and Hawke what "Beauty and the Beast" is to Belle and Beast. I want a whole similar scene for Hawke and Fenris. Just dancing through the mansion with Music of the Night playing(sung by Gideon Emery? Maybe?)... And instead of the servants watching and commenting(there may be something there that wasn't there before!"), it'll have Isabela and Merrill and Varric all watching(and Anders pouting).
...hopefully that all makes sense.

Right...I think he trusts izzy, care or not care is not an issue whatsoever. I believer Fenris tolerate his companions, whether or not he likes them that's a complete different story. Izzy knows what she what's and how she's gonna get it, Fenris doesn't mind playing along, I think it's as simple as that. By act 3, Danarius is dead, Fenris has a general amount of trust with nonmage companions, he trust izzy enough to get naked with her without worrying about getting stabbed in the back. They're friendship is there, I don't know about care, it's a bit meaningless. They want sexual relief and both are willing to give...and that's that...pretty much they're f*** buddies at that point.

Um, am I the only one who thought he had a sexual relationship with Danarius? And that even at one point he was willing (maybe before the markings)? It's just these phrases by Danarious that make me think so:
D: Do I detect a note of jealousy? The lad is rather skilled, I admit.
and
D: You weren't always this way, Fenris. Once upon a time you had an affection for me. I remember it fondly.
And how angry Fenris gets after Danarius says that. I mean, he's already angry so he gets that much angrier. His 'Shut your mouth, Danarius' has a ring of shame to it.
