With the way he steps in when Zevran offers to get to know Hawke, that strikes me as more possessive than protective, yanno?UrsulaCousland wrote...

*catches up with the thread* God it moves fast! Today I finished my first playthrough! "Nothing will keep me from you" God that line makes my heart pitter patter. He is kind of possessive in his passion it seems, but I can't blame him. Considering that he has lost everything in his life, it makes sense that he wants to keep Hawke and make it work.
He is actually really sweet on the inside. I was having an argument with a friend of mine in a MMO today, he kept saying that he was emo and I seriously don't see it at all. He doesn't whine or cry, he is just angry - justifiably so! So, yes. Let them come. We will make them pay.
Also I snickered at the part where Varrick at the end says that everyone left eventually, going on their own paths... "Except for Fenris of course."Yay!
Can't wait to see how DA3 pans out lol. WILL there be a DA3?
Edit for typo again lol XD
In some ways, it doesn't come off to me as possessive so much as protective and/or loyal. And, in that context, I
love it. I'm very similar - I am not possessive of my husband at all (I know better, and I'm very fortunate that I don't have to be), but I can be fiercely protective if I feel he's being impugned, threatened, or maligned in front of me. Heck, this applies to anyone I care about.

I never felt as emotinally attached to Bethany as I did to Carver, to be honest
Plus his conversations with Fenris are groan-worthy and amusing

I think so at least, some people may not agree since he's apparently one of those characters you either love or you hate. He definitely seems to mature more if you make him a GW. When he comes back he's grown so much, I really think the GWs gave him the purpose he has always been searching for.UrsulaCousland wrote...

In my mind at least, Carver has a lot of respect for Fenris. At least partially because he's such a talented swordsman, but probably also because his number one priority is being his own man, which is Carver's whole issue. He gives so much crap to everyone, but he doesn't even try that shtick with Fenris, he just keeps asking him about himself like he's interested in Fenris as a person. Which of course makes me giddy, since they're my two favorite characters.
Wow...this is actually making me consider playing a mage. So Carver actually does grow up a bit? He annoyed the heck out of me when I saw him in my husband's mage playthrough.

And like I said, I don't see him being emo, at all. I see him being angry and wanting revenge, and I help him get it - I am as glad to see Danarius dead as he is.
He is just... awesome. Why can't we have more men like him in real life? ^^

You've got Kaidan all wrong, he isn't angsty at all, he is the most well adjusted one of the lot, lol..... Meh, different strokes and all thatNamuri wrote...

I've never played NWN, but I might have to, I adore Gaider, and if /he/ loves a character...well...Same here. I like Kaidan though and I like his romance and he fits well with one of my Sheps (Rhianna), but the other one (Sara) it's Garrus all the way.Oh. no-no, I /know/ about Garrus. He's my favorite character n.n;
When I was a nooblet to Bioware games, and playing ME1, like 2 years ago, I sat back, looked at all the love interests and said:
WHY IS GARRUS NOT AN OPTION? ;-;
And I'm glad you like my sig.
I'll remember that then.
I was never a fan of Kaidan, set against the other characters, who despite their problems were usually very up beat, he seemed to angst too much. And then, in ME2? When he's a jerlk to you (I didn't have my ME1 info on my Xbox, so I had to play with the default for ME2 where everything is crap) wanted to punch him.
Garrus is just awesome. That's all there is too it, and when I read your sig, I remember him saying that line, like his actual voice 8D;
He's so wonderfully deadpan.
Have a Fenris...

No wonder he keeps looking under his feet if you let him sit still for long (just like he picks imaginary hair from his armor). So, doesn't it hurt when he is walking/running/scavenging in all these caves with Hawke? They do get pretty rocky at times.

I believe Messer Gaider stated that the Art Team dislikes elves, and decided that all(well, almost all) elves do not wear shoes. They just wear those sock-things.Nerana wrote...

I also get the more possessive over protective vibe from this, but I don't think I'd react very kindly if someone was propositioning themselves to my significant other right in front of me. I'd probably snap at them too.

Yea, I mean, no matter how possessive it might sound, it's perfectly justifiable.

Carver is very likable character if you give him the chance. There can be full blown-up rivalry shouting matches that leave you feeling a bit hollow, with bittersweet half-apologies later (try confrontational approach after the birthright quest, it's woah!), or more friendly/snarky head-butting that's indicative of him really caring about his brother/sister. And his leaving for the expedition/Deep road scenes feel more gripping (IMHO!)

I second this. I took to Carver much more than I did Bethany. Beth's sweet, but she doesn't really change much throughout the game. Carver does; it's great how much he's matured by game's end.
His and Fenris' tattoo conversation was one of my favorites.

Zevran is nothing but an assassin with a questionable motive who could easily be manipulating Hawke for any number of reasons, as far as Fenris knows. I don't think he'd always react that way to just anyone propositioning Hawke.
Well, I hope not, he basically threatened to kill him 8D;
He'd probably glare at anyone who tried, and that'd probably ward them off, unless they were drunk. In which case, Hawke can handle herself. :>

Yep, jealous Fen is awesome though. "That depends. How much do you wish to test that luck of yours?" Total win.
As an aside, yes, it comes off as possessive rather than protective to me as well. It is absolutely delicious and totally understandable though. I'd probably feel the same way, as well.
