So I went digging for the name of the animator who worked on Fenris, found a post by David Gaider I remembered...

Sorry if it was posted numerous times before :).

~ A Bitter Pill -
there's just an amazing MOOD to this quest, and I found myself totally
possessed by Fenris's feelings. I'm really curious who the HELL did
animation for Fenris, because his subtle facial expressions and eye
movements were just amazing, you can see entire novels written in his
face and this quest (and Alone, which I LIKED better but wasn't quite as
well written, imo) was awesome for that. Fenris's face is so
expressive, far and away the best animated character. He's like a real
person.

That would have been Sarah, the cinematic
designer on my team. She would come into my office almost every day
asking for background on what Fenris was like, how he might move, etc.
If you can imagine me mimicking Fenris ("he sort of turns his head
aside, like 'no, I can't...'") and she would get all excited and run off to make it perfect.

I'm really happy with how those scenes turned out.

I'd seriously love to know Sarah's last name and how to send her some fan mail  :). Not kidding either, I'm neither an artist, nor a writer to do something Fenris character related, but I'd really like the opportnity to express my gratitude for the woman who brought him to life :).

Oh, and second tidbit I 've stumbled on while searching: (by David Gaider)

Ha! Probably.

The original plan was actually to have Fenris shirtless all the time. I would have been okay with that, even if it did kind of make him look like he just came out of Lord of the Flies.

:P

Edit: Obligatory top of the page pic!

I don't quite understand what people mean when they say Sebastian's preachy. I mean, he talks about his beliefs when people ask about them, or explaining about himself, really. But he doesn't try and force people to convert. Most of the party banter is started by others, sometimes attacking his beliefs. He answers questions, he doesn't try and force people to his side of the argument. Anders and Fenris are much, much more preachy than him. The difference is that Seb is religious.

It does look it :P. Actually, if you play a mage, it can be interpreted that he kind of put his foot in his mouth. "What does magic touch that it doesn't spoil?" And the screen zooms to mage Hawke's startled expression...

Yea, that scene has a lot more weight if you play as a mage. Specially friendmancing mage. I could only assume my hawke was like :(

Rheia, thank you for looking that up! I agree, I'd love to know her last name as well. Her attention to the little details, and the way she executed them, is completely amazing. DG and GE get all the focus, but her work just pulls it all together. There are times when his facial expression says so much more than the words and tone do.

Gah, ok, I squee over Sarah the cinematic designer :D

Thirded! I thought his animations really shone on his personal quests. From the scene where he's banging that slaver's head into the ground, his close-up with Hadriana (I literally had shivers down my back when he leaned in like that. To quote double-rainbow guy, IT'S SO INTENSE.), his anger after killing her... and especially that heartbreakingly sweet look he gives Hawke if s/he tells him that he has him/her in Alone.

Of course, it helps boatloads that Gideon Emery's delivery was so flawless, and that Fenris was a well-written character in general. But, as has been said, the animations and cinematic design really do pull it all together.

I sort of wanted a line for mage!Hawke that went along the lines of: "I corrupt everything I touch?" with puppy eyes even if it would've gotten Rivalry (although by that point, I wouldn't have to worry about getting the Rivalry as he's usually maxed out on the Friend path by then).

Sarah the Cinematic Design (Let's call her Sarah TCD for short) deserves to get squeed over. She made the voice and the story fit into to the character with his movements and facial expressions. She deserves lots of hugs and cookies. :D

I think, of my characters, the duelist/assassin rogue duel was easiest so far. I haven't played a mage, but my husband's mage owned him pretty handily (go go frost spells...)

I beat him last night on my archer rogue.  I wouldn't call it easy, but it does help to have assassin/ duelist.  I had a running Harbinger track in my head when I'd throw Assassinate on him.  "You feel this!"  On my mage, I gave up after several tries.  She was a blood mage but even so couldn't get enough damage on him to get ahead of his potions, and was on her back more than on her feet.  A force mage might do better- you have that one talent where you're immune to knockdown.

Oh, it was also the first time I've had Isabela high enough that she came back.  Yay, Isabela!  I do like Fenris jumping in, except on my mage I always had to say "uh, actually I am kind of a wimp and I'm not taking that deal."

Rogues can use the Decoy glitch. Decoy makes the Arishok stand still, and just pop potions now and then. You can then plink away at him from a distance.

It's not so much being immune to knockdown that does it.
Although, considering your character is a mage that might be the best passive...evar XD
It's the bug that makes him stand still, and even if it doesn't that ability slows movement speed.
Really, you just have to use winter's grasp on him like 50 BAZILLION TIMES, and you'll kill him. He only uses the pots 3 times.

I couldn't beat the Arishok with my first mage. I just had all the wrong spells, I think. My 2h reaver/templar, however, took that big boy down without a single problem. It was like a completely different opponent. Every other game, I just went for the free-for-all. Faster that way. ;p

That makes it so much easier. But as Cassandra says, defeating Arishok in single combat is so... romantical~

On my rouge I had no Idea that Fenris would step in during the Arishok   =)  I was rivalmancing him and since I knew that Isabella wouldn't come back I feelt pretty safe that I would take him down with my group. Up steps Fenris and challenges him for Hawke. Didn't want to chicken out   :P   so I spent 5 min running around kiting him and and using my bow. And got a nice +10 friend with Fenris. That was such a surprise, lol. Love when these things happens in the game, you see something new and unforseen.

But I don't care.
Pure win.

...I want a lyrium-wolf plush. Posted Image it would be so cute and soft and glow in the dark....

Edit: I think the fur is brown to match Fenris' skin tone, but they could have had sections of it be white for his hair or something... idk Posted Image
