Well, a tragic NPC who was brutalized by the Tevinter mages is always appealing in the sense my PC will want to take him out drinking and find him a girlfriend (Isabella/Aveline- you have been warned). Or a puppy.
The question is does what was done to him make him a tragic figure or a bitter figure.
Ehh, personally I'm hoping more of a Wolverine-type character. Tough as nails and twice as angry. I don't really like tragic-broken-woe companions.
His quote suggests "Bring it" to me, so Meg...I mean Fenris, seems like a Wolverine sort of fellow more so. Maybe.
Yeah, it seems like that to me, too. He's got the air of one of those 'bring it on' characters and not the 'oh poor me! My life is so sad!" ones.
At least I hope it's the case.

I really hope he has a gritty, sultry, dark voice. Like... I don't know any good examples.

The armor pic on the right is looking quite easy to pry open if we are able to see a bit of his back.....namedforthemoon wrote...
Something else that catches my eye... He's got sort of clawed-gauntlets... Which could... I don't know. My brains going nuts with all the awesomeness that has come of today. Fenris, combat walk-through, Varric showing off his stuff with Bianca... I'm going to need a nap from all the excitement.
The image on the right, with his right hand. I'm talking about the gauntlet. Looks like claws.

PROOF that Meg has STUBBLE!
Just make the image large size. It's stubble, clear as day.
Wouldn't had be more applicable in this case?
If you download that gorgeous wallpaper that was made by PoisonTheCity, you can see the stubble on his face. The screenshots are too small to see it clearly.

Darn it. Stop stripping away my jaded and cynical facade with cool character introductions.
I am now properly intrigued. And very happy he wasn't saved till the very last minute, like Zevran!

No, I'm just kidding. I hope it's a werewolf, if anything.

Same here. I know better than to get my hopes up, though. Zev and Thane both suffered the ZOMG MY DEAD EX backstory, and though I still did like those characters, it did make me beat my head against the desk for painful unoriginality.
Hawke is made of the stuff of badass. I want companions of equal badass. And Fenris certainly has sexy, smirky potential.

Seriously though, he's gorgeous. I like his hair and outfit. Here's hoping he has a sexy voice.
Oh, and he is a former Tevinter slave? That should create some interesting tension seeing as Kirkwall was a former Tevinter city and they had a history of slaves.
I wonder if Fenrir has some connection to Isabela, who was apparently shipping slaves when the Siren's Call was destroyed?

Sky. Carth Onasi. Atton Rand. The list goes on.

Since Meg lost his memories due to Lyrium infusion, he can't whine to us about his dead wife. Yay!

I dont think he could have a dead wife since he was a slave.

We don't know when he became a slave though, so it's possible. Or at least a dead lover, if not wife.
