Aww. That picture is great. Love how Hawke looks a bit defiant, haha.

*sigh* Can I rant a little? Why can't some people 'live and let live?' There is a nice thread in the general discussion praising Mary Kirby as a writer with people thanking her for her creations. Comes in a certain someone promptly calling characters like Fenris and Aveline 'garbage'. Ms. Kirby didn't even write Fenris! (I am unsure who wrote Aveline, actually).

Gr. I understand that some people want to be vocal about their likes and dislikes. But butting their heads in unrelated threads? I hate that. So. Much.

/rant off.

Rogues can use the Decoy glitch. Decoy makes the Arishok stand still, and just pop potions now and then. You can then plink away at him from a distance.

But that's cheating!  *somewhere Isabela sighs*

I'll try it again on my mage.  I think my problem was that I always stack my party with high DPS and don't like to put points into anything defensive, then with blood mage sapping her health, she was too close to death all the time to withstand one of Ari's grabby or slammy things.

Seriously, just when I thought I can't fall for Fenris any harder, but this made me end up with an idiotic grin for the rest of the day, my mind's completely blown. XD

Not to come here empty-handed and just stating the obvious, will share my fave snarly!screen C:

addai, grab horror spell on your mage, and petrify. Those two spells will make the duel a TON easier. :)

Completed one playthrough with friendship romance, second one completed with a rivalmance. Third playthrough is going to be friendship again, I'm considering romancing Anders but I already know that's not going to happen. xD
I prefer the Friendship romance to be honest, though I think that the Alone 'after-talk' is much better with a rivalry relationship..

Love the picture btw. <3

Mary Kirby is a genius. She's written three of my favorite DA men (Sten, Loghain and Varric). So that troll can go choke on a nug.

Aveline was written by Luke Kristjansen, and she's awesome too so see above.

Oh, no, he's not garbage at all.

[Slightly biased ranting] It's called people don't get to know his character (and don't max out the Friend/Rival bar) and then go whine and **** about him on the forums when he leaves them at end-game (which is the player's fault-- It is seriously not that hard to at least max Fenris on Rival. Fenris is the sort of guy to act calm in conversations where you disagree with him, and then smack you hard with +15 to +20 Rival points. My Kaalysss Hawke had him full Rival by his 1st conversation with her in Act II). They also don't understand that he has VERY good reasons for being anti-mage-- he came from an area where mages were allowed to run free and rule, and the entire society is pretty damn twisted and corrupt and no one stops it. [/Slight biased ranting]

People take rivalry points personally for some reason. I've always liked it when followers have minds of their own and disagree with the PC, who as it is gets her way too easily. It's an ego thing with a lot of people (cough*men*cough).

I try not to rival with any of the characters. (Except for Merrill, it's not because I hate her, but being her friend is just ... she needs someone to set her straight, oh, and Anders. But that's mainly for the lulz) and ends up with me feeling like my Hawke is just this ridiculously likeable person, who people like despite themselves.
I don't change Hawke's decisions to make the companions like her, of course. I'll just not bring them on missions where they'd get rivalry, or something.

Those people should go play Sith Lords. The Friendship/Rivalry thing is shown quite well there, though I don't think there's a bar showing you which way they are going, but it's awesome. If you ****** off party members, and make them Force Users, if they don't like you, they'll be opposite allignment to you. So, if you are Light side, they will be Sith.

Hey, that actually sounds like fun. I think I'd purposely ****** off party members and make them Force Users then and be the *one* Jedi while everyone else are Sith and staring at me with narrowed eyes with death glares of doom. Or I'd be the Sith and they can stare at me with death glares of purity. :P (It's pretty obvious-- I never played)

Speaking of Jedi and Sith, whaddya think the DA2 party members would look like and act like as each type?

You know... i wonder what it says about me that I prefer majority of  companions to be Hawke's rivals as opposed to friends :P Fenris, Merril, Aveline, Sebastian... on the fence about Anders, and the only ones I prefer as friends are Varrick and Isabella. :P

The way I play though, I usually have a set party, unless it's a personal quest, and I still manage to max or nearly max everyone's rivalry/friendship meters :P

Jedi and Sith:
Hrm. Shoot. You know, both have fairly uncompromising 'code' that I don't think fits any of the companions modus operandi.

Lookie, they are both pretty extreme:

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

v.s.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

Me personally? I like the sith code better, *hangs head*. Jedi mantra is lost on me right after its first line about no emotion.

Bit off subject though... Flemeth and Kreia strike similar chords in me. (I loved Kreia to pieces in Kotor II)

IT shows that yor Hawke inspires loyalty, even if people disagree with him/her.
I kind of want to rivalmance Seb, if I ever get a chance to DLC, because his promise to you is ~awesome~

I usually have a set party too, it's Fenris, Varric/Isa (usually both), 3rd person. The fact that my mage rarely manages to ****** Fenris off is sort of a random plus. I just end up sending most mages back to the circle, cause, you know, theyu consorted with blood mages, or something. I think there were, like two mages in the whole game that I let escape (that girl from Anders' quest, and Fenriel)

I like order and stuff but... I like the Sith code better also... The Sith code lets you be free to be human-- to live and love. The Jedi code seems... emotionless and cold. Like if you followed it, you'd live your life for others and not for yourself.

*Pulling back on topic*
Hmm... The Sith code ---> Fog Warriors?

The Sith code is one of selfishness, while the Jedi code is one of selflessness. Both are flawed :/ one causes you to think only of the end goal. Of doing whatever it takes to do what you wish, and the other denies you the right to have desires for yourself.

My brother said it was great to make Handmaiden a Sith, since then she kicks major a**.

Hmm.... That would be up to interpretation... Anders is like Anakin circa Revenge of the Sith. Falling into the Dark Side while he tries to save what he loves.(Like Merrill says, he broke what he's trying to save). Fenris....hard to say. Aveline is Light Side, I don't think anyone could interpret her into being Dark Side. Varric and Isabela... I think they're more Neutral. Merrill...hmm... strikes me as Reven. Reven made a choice. He didn't fall, he chose. Merrill too didn't fall. She chose. Siblings... Beth I think is Light Side. Carver could be Dark Side.

What do we know about Fog Warriors, anyway? Other than they are rebel groups in Saheron jungles? Are they Tal-Vashoth? Tevinters who rebel against the Imperium? Fenris' fascination with them stemmed from his time with them and tasting their freedom, but I don't think I saw anything else on the subject.
