I don't think Fenris and the others turning on you in the Fade is actually accepting a demon's bargain... Fenris asks "What would you require of me?" ("would", hypothetically) and the demon answers "Only a moment of your time". I think it's more a thing of the demon exploiting a moment of doubt, even if it's just fleeting, to take over. Fenris stopping to consider the offer rather than resolutely say "no" was all that was required for the demon to take control of him - it's the Fade, remember.

I actually really like the possibility of him turning on you now matter how close you are, because the whole "your friend/LI is so loyal to him that his loyalty guards him from the influence of demons" is somewhat cliched and would be implausible at that early point (though not by the end of the game ). Plus, it gives Fen another thing to angst and feel guilty about in the relationship, and as much as I feel sorry for him, he does suffer so very adorably. XD

I got the same scene on the rivalry path so it seems to be independent ofthe state it's just how he "makes love" I guess kinda Isabela style.

Delurking to chime in my two cents that I like the betrayals in the Fade, especially for Fenris, because it shows how much the past still ties him down regardless of the new bonds he's made in Kirkwall, be it friendship or rivalry. It's still Act 2. If this quest had happened in Act 3, however, and also after Danarius' death, I think Fenris would not have betrayed Hawke (assuming max friendship/rivalry). At least I... hope he wouldn't.

I have to admit, the first time I did the quest, I went in blind and brought Isabela and Fenris. Fighting a fully geared aggressive/scrapper Fenris with Anders, my rogue and a dog was not a very fun fight ):

I think it has something to do with your approval and depends on companion as well, some specificly fall for desire demon like Isabella and Avelin and Verric I think, while Merril and Fenris fall for pride demon, so if yo have say...Fenris and Merril with you, the one with the lowest friendship/rivalry will turn on you.

Isabela and Aveline (in that order) fall to the Desire demon.  Varric, Merril and Fenris (in that order... I think.  might have Varric and Merril out of order) fall to the Pride demon.  Anders/Justice will not fall to any and Sebastian can not be take to the Fade.  So of course my first jaunt in to the Fade was Aveline, Fenris and Anders and I went to the Desire demon first.  At the Pride demon, poor Anders got one-shot by Fenris every single time.  I think Fenris then got distracted by Dog and I ended up (when I finally won the fight) killing the demon by myself.

Good morning all! Had a very busy weekend but have one suggestion to play... assuming you're in a full on friendmance and as cheesy as me in saving certain instances, play Fenris's end of Questioning Beliefs 2 back to back with the moment of Last Straw..... mushy *swoon*melt* goodness!!!

Well technically Hawke always pushes him against the wall.  The glowy scene is if you've done Questioning Beliefs and pick the option "don't go" (with a heart icon) when you talk to him back at the Hawke estate after A Bitter Pill.  The "I have been thinking of you" scene happens if you let him go in that scene (say, by picking an option like "what about your family?") and then return home again at night.

The only difference between rivalry and friendship on those are some of the dialogues.

I finished his Beliefs before Bitter Pill... does that happen if completed in reverse?

if you finished beliefs before bitter pill, you get the wall scene if you ask him to stay. if you let him go he will come back and you get the alt scene. if you do a bitter pill before the beliefs quest, you wont get the option to ask him to stay so you can only get the alt scene. it will occur after you do the beliefs quest and flirt with him

So I finaly decided to rivalmance our dear Fenris on my snarky mage
(Maker give me strenght, must...resist... puppy eyes) and just got to the scean with the blood mages in the cavern. I ususaly send Grace with her pack back to the circle but since we needed to ****** Fenris off a bit, well we had to lie to the templars and having Varric bull****ing them was hilarious! One of the funniest dialogs I've seen in this game.

"Enchanter Hawke from Ferelden"...LMAO Varric is made from pure WIN!

Nawp, not nessiarly true!

In Warrior Playthrough I got glowy kiss, in Mage playthrough I got 'come back later' kiss. The difference? I slept with Isabela in Mage playthrough BEFORE I did "A Bitter Pill". I did his questioning beliefs first on both play throughs.  I got no option for the glowy kiss ;p

If you want a glowy kiss, don't sleep with Isabel, and make sure you've done 'Questiong Beliefs' before 'A bitter pill".
