Finished another playthrough. Suddenly, after hearing how Hawke and the party had to flee into the hills outside of Kirkwall after the final battle I'm reminded of the A-Team:

Fenris: You're serious about the whole mercenary idea?

Varric: Well my broody friend we need money and besides we have a pretty good backstory.

Fenris: Backstory?

Varric: Try this on for size: Three years ago a crack team of misfits were convicted for a crime that they did commit and were sentenced to a maximum security stockade in the Gallows from which they promptly escaped to the Kirkwall underground. Now wanted by the Chantry they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, then maybe you can hire the Hawke Team.

Fenris: "The Hawke Team" Really dwarf that was the best that you could come up with?

Varric: Well now, I don't see you coming up with any better plans.

Fenris: Fine we can work as mercenaries.

Varric: (lights pipe) I love it when a plan comes together.

Ineggable Igor, I second that. Especially on rivalry path, the direct lines and following exchanges are very charged.

I I think it also has something to do with how confrontational female VO is delivered. I thought some of her most emotional lines actually came from the red dialog branch. (Caver's full blown confrontation past  birthright. My god.)
With Fenris, the one that gripped me the most was their very first conversation, if you choose to say that you started a life here. When he confronts Hawke about it, her delivery is borders on pleading with a hollow edge to it: "You surive and you move on. What else do you want?" The consequent "Something else. Something... different. So should you." Is pretty powerful, even if it is understated. It just creates that picture of two people who aren't quite whole.

Yeah, okay, I'm a big softie...I go with "I am yours". Loved it with Zevran, love it with Fenris.

I know it has been said many, many, many times before but Gideon Emery did such an amazing job voicing Fenris that I cannot pick up a favorite line (and I do have favorites for all other characters).

Mmmm... I guess it's time to create another Hawke to try to settle my inner debate.

Also, does anyone know of a few missions in Act 3 to increase his friendship ? (IS the only one not maxed out, everytime I get 10 friendship he loses then aftwerwards >_> )

I have a save, right before it, just so I can go back and listen to it again. Because it's just so perfectly delivered.
My other favorite lines are the ones when he's being snarky, by a long shot. To name a few:

1) Because no Dalish Mage ever went astray.

2) You might as well say, "If they flew into the sky, they could live in the clouds."

3) The smug sense of superiority does give you away.

4) Being short would be an excellent start, I suspect.

Not nessacarily in that order.

Speaking of dialogue lines, I think my absolute favorite piece of dialogue in the game came from the Arishok when he addressed Fenris:

"I have a growing lack of disgust for you."

Now she's preparing to do Fenris (or Issie).

Some random lines from Fenris I liked.

Not sure if it's changed if Fenris is not in your party but when we first meet Sister Petrice and she goes into the alley with a bunch of thugs, Fenris will say,

"She has chosen poorly." That line always makes me crack up, I think its the way he says it.

He also managed to make me laugh after Hawke's Mother died with his, "Eh they say death is only a journey. Does that help?" It was just so awkward like at any moment he was just going to be like, "We could have sex again if you want." Made that whole quest less frustrating.

Other than that, I just really like after he kills Hadrianna and says "What does magic touch that it doesn't spoil," and then Mage Hawke is like "..." and Fenris is just like 'f***' I guess I'm just a fan of awkward moments.

Speaking of the A Team, snarky Hawke will say "I love it when a plan works out" after a battle. That reminded me of the A Team.

I'm not suprised that Fenris has an understanding of the Qun. He hasn't had much idea of what he is outside of being a bodyguard or a fugitive from Danarius. Going from having a clearly defined role as a slave to being able to go anywhere or do almost anything must be pretty disorienting.

What the Qun offers is the idea that everyone and everything has its own purpose in life must have appealed to Fenris, but the whole 'submit or die' bit might sound a litle bit like enslavement to him.

A couple of those lingering glances seem full of meaning to me.  In the Throne room if you give him Isabela and as you leave the compound just as the fight starts.

"In another time and place, pathetic human scum."  He's such a sweetie.

Arishok: It is a pitty it must end like this Hawke, were you of the Qun we could bring order to these lands.

Hawke: (confused expression) Are you asking me out on a date?

Arishok: Perhaps. Or maybe I am proposing that we work together for the common good.

Varric: (whispering to Fenris) Sounds like the big guy's looking to satisfy more than a demand of the Qun.

Fenris: I would suggest holding your tongue dwarf, lest his men decide to remove it.

Varric: Sounds like someone's a little possessive..
