Isabela: (whispering to Hawke) Five sovereigns says that they'll start kissing any second now.

Fenris: You are rather cheerful for a woman condemed to death.

Anders: (muttering to self) Here we go again.

Sigrun: Well, of course I'm cheerful. If I walked around Kirkwall brooding all the time I'd be putting you out of a job.

Fenris: I don't brood.

Sigrun: Of course you don't.


Shale:

Shale: I have a question for the Marked Elf.

Fenris; What?

Shale: The Marked Elf wears feathers upon its armor. It resembles a bird.

Fenris: (sighs) The armor was not of my choosing.

Shale: Ah, good. If it had chosen such armor on its own I would squish it simply to put it out of its misery.

Fenris: Might I ask why?

Shale: Any creature who would willingly dress itself as such a disgusting creature must be mad. It is pitiable.


Loghain:

Loghain: Speak. (Fenris remains silent) You clearly have something to say so speak!

Fenris: You allowed elves, your own people to be taken away by the Magisters.

Loghain: I suppose that you would take offense to that.

Fenris: Were you not of use to us I would kill you where you stand.

Loghain: (chuckles)

Fenris: You doubt my conviction?

Loghain: Let us just say that I am used to such threats.

I went into the game blind, just knowing that Anders was back. I liked Anders in Awakening, so learning he was an LI in DA2, I jumped at the chance to romance him.

Romancing Anders puts a new spin on the events of the game.

Objectivity when it comes to Fenris?  That's difficult...

I haven't romanced Anders and I probably won't.  I try not to metagame, and I try not force too much on of my own personal opinions on my Hawkes but I noticed a trend with them all, they all seem to be fairly independent and aloof so they tend work well with either Fenris (or Isabela).  That initial first flirt in the clinic always puts them off and comes off a little intense.  I think with Anders that romance (from what I've seen on youtube) will have something that is quasi obsessive and intense that speaks to overwhelming tide that is Anders and his situation.  The Fenris rivalmance is intense but not as tied to emotion, I think. 

I think with Fenris rivalmance there is something I prefer and I don't want to spoil it for you (in case you go that route) so I won't, but I feel like that after his companion quest, Alone, I like the realization that he comes to about himself.  I'm of the opinion that the admission he makes will be better for him in the long run.  That moment is fairly subtle as his tone is agressive, but to me it it's somewhat monumental.  As much as I adore the sweetness of the friendshipmance, there's a real honesty in the rivalmance that I find quite enjoyable and refreshing in that two people can disagree vehemently and still need each other, and they can still find that common ground and respect each other.  It's a nice balance.

Gah.  I always overdo it and write much too much.  I'm sorry.  In short, if I had to describe the Anders romance, I'd compare them to (and I know this is somewhat cliche) , but Romeo and Juliet (with touches of Hamlet/Ophelia though Hawke is nowhere near is wimpy as Ophelia, ugh).  Overwhelming, intense, slightly creepy, and tragic. 

I think with Fenris rivalmance I would say is more Darcy/Elizabeth Bennet with touches of Benedick/Beatrice.  Intense, aggressive, passionate but quite rewarding.

Okay.  I'm done.  Talking.  I'm so sorry.  I talk too much. *hides*

EDIT:  Yeah, I also wish I'd romance Ander first.  Though I like Anders a great deal.  I'm not anti-Anders.  Not in the least bit just not in a relationship with my Hawkes.

I have been bad, bad, bad... I have started at least 2 PT to romance Anders and my character always ends up with Fenris. The rivalry path is my favorite - so much anger and bitterness that just melts away at the end with grudging respect.

Anders friendship path is a bit too pushy for me. I tried the rivalry path which was better, his anger makes more sense and I will finish it eventually - but I really had to micromanage the quests and conversations.

I love Anders as a character, and I enjoyed the early stages of that romance, but it kind of fell apart for me in Act 3. I felt suffocated and like things were careening out of control and I was powerless to stop them. (This may be how the relationship is supposed to feel, in which case, well done.)

Ultimately, I just find the Fenris romance more satisfying. My preference is the rivalry path, but I like both.

Now that I've tested the waters of both romances, I tend to flirt with Anders, but always romance Fenris. I can just picture meta-Anders seeing that damn scarf on Fenris' arm for the umpteenth time and thinking, "Damnit, again?"

Hawke : I- what? No, of course not. It was a gift to you, stupid. You don't take back gifts, and neither do I, for that matter.

Fenris :  (Relieved) Ah, well... what do you want with it then?

Hawke :  Nothing, it's just...well, it's a lady's favor. Given to her knight as a sign of favor.

Fenris :  Yes, it's rather self explanatory.

Hawke :  Yes, but the knight is supposed to wear it.

Fenris :  I am no knight.

Hawke :  I am your lady, am I not?

Hawke :  Then, you are my knight - or my 'champion', if you'd rather.

Fenris :  I am The Champion's champion, then?

Hawke :  No, you are my champion.

Fenris :  Ah...

Hawke :  I'd just like you to start wearing it is all... That's it's purpose.

Fenris :  It could get damaged...

Hawke :  What? I- no it won't.

Fenris :  It's a little bit of cloth, I cannot see it lasting a single battle.

Hawke :  No-no, I mean I got Sandal to enchant it, before I gave it to you. It's a lot stronger than it looks, and stain resistant.

Fenris :  Oh...

Hawke :  And if it breaks, I can always give you another one, Fenris.

Fenris :  That is...true...

Hawke :  ... It's alright if you don't want to. I just had to ask-

Fenris : No!... I mean, no. I will wear it gladly.

Hawke :  Really?

Fenris :  Yes.

Hawke :  Great! It will go great with the crest I got you!

When Fenris is knocked out:

Anders : They took out Fenris!
Aveline : The marked one has fallen!

Isabela : Oh, he's not going to be happy when he wakes up!
Merrill : Uh! Could someone pick up Fenris, please?
Varric : The tame elf is down! ("Tame"?)

What he says when someone else is knocked out:

Anders : The mage is down.
Aveline : Aveline has fallen??
Carver : Your brother has fallen.
Isabela : Ahh, Isabela... (>_>)
Merrill : Surely we all saw that coming.
Varric : Now the dwarf falls.

I find it weird that the two people he obviously hates most are the only two that use his name. He seemed in complete disbelief that anybody took out Aveline. I don't know which is worse, his response to Merrill getting knocked out, or Varric who I assumed to be at least a little friendly with him calling him 'the tame elf'. WTH, Varric?

Also, not Fenris related, but... Carver > Varric: "The dwarf has dropped a few more feet."

... ILU Carver.

Someone needs to write down all the K.O. comments for the wikia. I've only heard them a few times. I always loved that Fenris just yells : No, I will not let this happen! ... or something close if Hawke falls after romancing her :>
