No amount of Isa friendship is worth missing the scene where Fenris kills the bastard :P

Hehe, I'm sorry, I realize I just made a counter-productive post, but I couldn't resist :P

lol. That's no problem. You still get +10 if you let Fenris do it. Just tell that douche that you won't find Ninnete for him because he's vile and you'll make up that +5 (that's during First Sacrifice in Act 1). You can still do the quest, of course.

I know - even on a full rivaly path I still take him with me on both this quest and Wayward Son - and let Fenris do what he does so well...

Those scenes are great:O.  I can't resist letting Fenris do his thing with my FHawke but my MHawke does it himself.

Hey guys - question. I saw on YouTube that it's possible to have Fenris take out Gascard DuPuis, but I've been unable to trigger this in game. Can anyone give details on how/where/when this occurs?

I see you got a couple answers already.  I just wanted to point out, this is probably one of the absolute best Fenris-taking-on-a-bad-guy scenes in the game.

I worked my tail off to get it, too.  I was initially playing a sarcastic Hawke, mind you, and the scene just wouldn't pop, no matter how many different dialogue options I pulled to get Gascard to stand with me against Quentin.  I was ready to pull my hair out, going back over and over through the thing trying different combinations to see if I could change his mind.  When Isabella left me after Act 2 during that PT, I abandoned it, and started a new PT, I was so frustrated, I kid you not.

My next PT was a diplomatic Hawke, and sure enough I was able to pop off a "special" dialogue option when Gascard was asked by Quentin to fight against me.  I told Gascard, "Think about what he's done", or something like that, and Gascard ended up fighting alongside me.  When Mama Hawke dies, he can be seen edging away off to the side.  But I went and found him in Darktown again, with Fenris, Anders and Isabella.  Isabella made some comments about Gascard running away, something like, "He's a runner, I've seen the look before."  So I yelled at Gascard for a bit and he tried to lie his way out.  I then asked Fenris, "Fenris, what would you do."  And he goes over and does his glowy thing for a bit, just cocking his head and raising a brow as Gascard TRIES so hard to continue lying.  It was awesome.

Mind you, Gascard is a complete baddie, as his ultimate confession demonstrates.  I didn't feel bad at all when my Hawke finally pulled out her murder knife and ganked him.  There's a bug, though, that has Hawke receiving a letter in Act 3 from Gascard, saying thanks for letting him go.  I imagine it's one of the bugs that'll be resolved in the upcoming patch.  In the meantime, it made me chuckle to think of him putting that letter in the mail right before I found him in Darktown, hehe.  Hey, I have to make my canon work somehow, Image IPB.

I just wish I could stormach another diplomatic Hawke run through... did it once, but I brought Varrick with me since I didn't know of the possibility of this follow up :(.

I just... can't. I miss snarking at people, or ocasional direct no bull**** approach. Diplomatic is all 'let me help! Let's make Kirkwall a better place! I'm made of sugar and spice and everything nice!" Wai.

*sigh* I suppose I'll try dominant agressive next. You get a persuade (intimidate, actually) option on that track too.

I haven't done a PT with an aggressive Hawke yet. I'm not an aggressive person by nature, so it just seemed a bit of a turn-off, to me. I may try a warrior run in aggressive mode next time, I dunno. Could be interesting to see what's different, I suppose.

After playing a snarky mage, I played a male warrior who was aggressive. In ways I found it to be even more hilarious than the snark. lol. My warrior just greeted everybody as if they had just ruined his day, even though he was the one who initiated the conversation. I was cracking up the entire time. Though, I must admit he was nice to his family and friends (Anders and Merrill hated him, because he was pro-Templar and wouldn't give her the knife). I almost never picked the diplomatic response with him. It was direct or snarky-and snarky was usually only with his friends. My mage Hawke is always snarky, except for when the occassion calls for tact. She knew when it was imperative that she be diplomatic.....okay. Sometimes, she knew. Sometimes she just couldn't censor herself. lol

LOL  I know what you mean, I was never so glad I had Aveline along as when I was talking to Emeric in Act II about the serial killer. I actually went back and replayed that, because the responses without you even picking them were so inappropriate, but Aveline successfully reins in Hawk so it was only sort of horrible instead of completely horrible.

I was like OH NO HAWKE, DONT GO THERE!!! But she did. <_<

I love the aggressive Hawke.  She is funny.  There are some things that she says that makes me facepalm, but I actually like her directness.

Yeah, I tried one briefly and so far she was only occasionally a total ****. Usually it was just pretty no-nonsense.

I'm also the type of person who doesn't pick EVERY single option under the same tone, though. SarcasticHawke was hard to fight off that urge, though, simply because I started getting a morbid curiosity over what inappropriate joke she would make next, lol.

Exactly. Like, after the Viscount's son is killed.

Or, my other favorite, when you give Sebastian his grandfather's bow and then tell him that a bow is better than a family, because you can't shoot your family at a charging raider (or something like that). His reaction is hilarious: "Is there nothing you hold sacred, Hawke?"

I was like: "Hmm....I haven't found anything yet..." <---not an actual line, just so there's no confusion.

I still got friendship points for that, though...

I can't decide which personality to stick to. Diplomatic Hawke seems... too sugary sometimes, the aggressive one seems TOO direct sometimes and needlessly angry. Sarcastic is best so far but even then you can sound off. xD

Also funny how if you're sarcastic most of the time, suddenly taking a diplomatic/aggressive choice seems so sudden for Hawke, her voice can go from aggressive (in a cutscene) to "Oh ILL HALP!"

>.> I'll just stay to sarcastic.

I am very happy with both the sarcastic and direct Hawke. In the past, most of my characters were on the side of good (my renegade Shepard made me cringe for most of the game) but I think I have used the diplomatic response only a couple of times throughout all my PT.

@Evindell - that's actually my favorite Sebastian line - great delivery.

darkrose: That's odd... no, doing questioning believes before Better Pill is fine. Did you flirt/entered romance with any other companion before that?

I've flirted with Isabela, but we haven't slept together yet. However, when I go back home after talking to Fenris, she jumps me...could that be it?

Isabela killed my romance too-- all I did was flirt with her. :o I actually ended up having to replay a couple of hours. It was very odd, because I was almost all the way friendmanced with Fenris, and I didn't think flirting literally one time with her would do that. It was a pretty suggestive flirt, but still.

Hmm, looks like I picked a good time to drop into the thread!  I'm having a similar issue, and I wanted to ask the people in this thread's opinion.  I'm rivalmancing Fenris, and just finished his Bitter Pill quest, but didn't get the love scene--he just left.  I had flirted with Isabela (I flirt with everyone), but when she came to jump me, I refused her.  Can this bork the romance anyway?

Gah, I hate the fact that you can't tell exactly how many Friend/Rival points you have with anyone--I'm used to being able to from DA:O.  It seems like it should be at or near 75%, but I have no way of telling for sure.

Any help/advice is appreciated.  I don't want to have to replay several hour's worth, but I will if I have to.

Yes. The 'I'd do it for a kiss' line sets the Isabela romance on, which breaks off Fenris's romance. Happened to me too.

I tried a fully aggressive Hawke last night and it didn't work. It's just not in my nature to yell at people I guess (unless they deserve it). I love sarcastic Hawke unless it's a serious situation, then it's diplomatic, nice Hawke. Only thing that annoys me is you don't get extra options if you're sarcastic Hawke, so you'll completely miss moments like the ones with Gascard.

I use aggressive Hawke if I feel it's appropriate. Like, if she's shaking someone down for the location of her mother, or a prisoner, or it's late in the game and she's tired of acting like pudding. I love the whole personality tracking system. It's great to be able to pick a different tone once in a while but still have the lines you don't pick be consistent with the general personality.

I have never tried the agressive answers yet... I tend to be a peacekeeper in my family context lol, so I guess it kinda shows in game, But I totally loved the snarky answers so.. I will just have to bite the bullet and do it. OOO and ty for the GP tips, I was snarky mage and he helped Quentin fight against me, darn traitor...
Also I didnt mind killing ANders , I felt he was really tired and ready to die, But I DETESTED stabbing him in the back, I mean come on... why not a throat slit or a facing stab like all the other mercy killings? Altho I admit it.. Im sick too , I like Fenris Phasepunching too! Ok, I like anything Fenris says and does.,,, lol except the leaving Hawke. teehee
