@Anny lovely!

Indeed! (Quoting non-pic version for less spam). I just caught him doing that lean in my last playthrough - and I *loved* that moment.

ETA: Eek, ToP! Maybe I *should* have quoted the piccie version! Ah well, here it is because it's so beautiful...

So I'm doing another playthrough. I'm wondering what fate I should condemn Carver to: Life as a Grey Warden, or death. Which would you guys recommend?

Warden, definitely.  I love that little ******, Carver.  I will never be able to kill him in a PT.  Bethany on the other hand....

Thank you, Aris and Tasmen.
So you don't like Bethany? Pity.
Though I admit I prefer Carver.

A little story for adults only… Fenris / Hawke first night. If you are easily offended, my apologies. Please do not go further.

I was going to make Bethany a Warden this PT, but I want to see the Fen kidnapping bit, so...sorry sis! (WIll revisit this on a post-patch PT, methinks. :) )

Besides, I've been reading the Gascard bits, and  I think I'm gonna have to do that as well. (Before now, I've just been all "BLOOD MAGE! RAWR!"  )

I just feel like Carver is a more developed character.  Bethany comes off as too flat to me.  But then again, I have to admit I have never really been a big fan of virginal female characters.  Carver is a bit of a douche and I love that about him.

I love both of them. Bethany for her idealism and sweetness, Carver for his flaws and realisticness.

I will drop another hint.
Sigh, I dreadfully miss sexy Fenris hipswaying.

You're making me want to play a mage. (But I feel sold so short siding with mages, so Apostate siding with Templars here I come, if I do that!  )

Ooh, ooh! If you do that, play a blood mage spirit healer! I enjoy playing hypocritical mages who like templars.

Yeah, I can't give up a Fenris chest-punching moment.

Was anyone else disappointed that we didn't get much of one when he kills Danarius? I wanted to see Fenris holding him up like the Arishok did to me during the duel, and watch the bastard beg for mercy before Fenris ripped his heart out.

You didn't like the Anders romance? Why?
Personally, I adored both.

Has anyone else noticed that for a Fenris thread, we've been talking more about Anders?

Do you still want the weekly prompt?

I like the prompts though I'm knee deep in papers and project until the end of April.  I won't have anytime to do anything until early finals week. :(

Thanks for all you hard work, Tankgirly!

I totally missed the weekly prompt I guess while I was out of town.  I'm still interested in seeing them.

Humph, okay. I will keep posting the weekly prompt then.

@MDS, you can't help it. They were two end of spectrum, people always comparing them.

But yeah, we do have two Anders threads.

I think the comparisons are inevitable. I just mentioned Fenris on the Anders thread - we'll see if I get run out of there on a rail or not.

I have no doubt that there are heart-wrenching moments about the Anders romance, too, but he just gets on my nerves. (He annoyed me in Awakenings too, for the record, so I didn't necessarily line up to swoon for him in DA2 either.)  Of course, I didn't expect to like Fenris or any of the other LIs either, so...I live and I learn. :) )

I haven't done a PT with an aggressive Hawke yet. I'm not an aggressive person by nature, so it just seemed a bit of a turn-off, to me. I may try a warrior run in aggressive mode next time, I dunno. Could be interesting to see what's different, I suppose.

I love the aggressive Hawke.  She is funny.  There are some things that she says that makes me facepalm, but I actually like her directness.

Yeah, I tried one briefly and so far she was only occasionally a total ****. Usually it was just pretty no-nonsense.

I'm also the type of person who doesn't pick EVERY single option under the same tone, though. SarcasticHawke was hard to fight off that urge, though, simply because I started getting a morbid curiosity over what inappropriate joke she would make next, lol.

I was annoyed at first by the jerkiness of the sarcastic responses until I gave up and learned to embrace Inappropriate!Hawke. Telling Sebastian to wash behind his ears when he was angsting about the desire demon? COMEDY GOLD. Also, blithely telling Emeric that if the women weren't dead, he needed to watch out for boneless women flopping around Kirkwall was kind of brilliant, in a massively douchey way.

I felt smothered by him to be honest, loved the build up and romance scene but straight after that he just felt to needy and then in act 3 he felt like he was spiraling out of control and away from lady Hawke! I really wanted to like the whole thing because he is a brilliant character and really does deserve his pretty girl (my mage did run away with him in the end)! It is very very well written its just not for me Posted Image

Snarky Hawke flirting with Fenris in the first conversation after you recruit him: "You sound as if you are about to ask for a loan."

Ah.

Quick, we need a topic about Fenris.

Do you guys think that if he wanted to, he can make his foot all lyriumy and crush stuff...with his foot?

I do find it amusing though, Fenris thread seems to have a lot to say about Anders, Anders thread seems to have a lot to say about Sebastian, and Sebastian thread.. doesn't have much to say about anything. Poor Sebastian, so unpopular. :(

Anders personally turned me off from the start because I was in love with his VA from Awakening. So, started out on the wrong foot.

The romance itself is interesting and passionate and tragic, which are all fine by me, but two things killed it for me - when he all but begs/guilt trips Hawke into letting him move in, and when he lies about the cure and again begs/guilt trips Hawke into helping him even though he lied about the cure. There's just no trust to be found imo. When the endgame came around, all I could think was, "He was using Hawke this whole time." And he WANTS you to kill him - which means he still is using Hawke even then. Any affection or love in the relationship looked like hollow lies then. It just gives me this unhealthy, twisted, empty feeling.

I don't mind Anders outside a romance, though. It's just not a romance for me.

darkrose: That's odd... no, doing questioning believes before Better Pill is fine. Did you flirt/entered romance with any other companion before that?

I've flirted with Isabela, but we haven't slept together yet. However, when I go back home after talking to Fenris, she jumps me...could that be it?

Isabela killed my romance too-- all I did was flirt with her. :o I actually ended up having to replay a couple of hours. It was very odd, because I was almost all the way friendmanced with Fenris, and I didn't think flirting literally one time with her would do that. It was a pretty suggestive flirt, but still.

Hmm, looks like I picked a good time to drop into the thread!  I'm having a similar issue, and I wanted to ask the people in this thread's opinion.  I'm rivalmancing Fenris, and just finished his Bitter Pill quest, but didn't get the love scene--he just left.  I had flirted with Isabela (I flirt with everyone), but when she came to jump me, I refused her.  Can this bork the romance anyway?

Gah, I hate the fact that you can't tell exactly how many Friend/Rival points you have with anyone--I'm used to being able to from DA:O.  It seems like it should be at or near 75%, but I have no way of telling for sure.

Any help/advice is appreciated.  I don't want to have to replay several hour's worth, but I will if I have to.

Apparently, flirting with Isabela once is enough to bork Fenris's romance.

If you're playing on a PC, you can use the console to set his romance flag back on. I did that right after killing Hadriana, and when I next went to my estate, I got the wall-shove glowy kiss.

Well said - that about sums it up for me. I was so outraged by what happened with Anders that it completely ruined the character for me. He can sit on his butt in the clinic and succeed without Hawke's help (*sigh*).  I might feel differently if there was some way to talk Anders out of it, but having some other rebel mage still run with it (as was brought up either in this thread or the Anders one, I think), but...
