^^This. I love the guy, but he has severe emotional, psychological, and anger issues. These are not the makings of someone who should be a father. These are also not things that will be healed overnight from the power of Hawke's LUVVVVV
Except that it's not overnight, it's over almost a decade. And in killing Danarius he freed himself from a lot of those unresolved issues allowing him to start healing. I don't see him as permanently damaged any more than Hawke is for the tragedies s/he has endured. I guess in relation to some of the other characters I just don't think he's that mentally unstable, honestly. He's pretty in touch with his feelings by Act 3.
I think Fenris is one of the few BW characters that seems like he -would- be happy with a domestic situation. He doesn't seem especially passionate about fighting, it was always a means to an end and that end was freedom. The only goal we knew him to have aside from revenge was to have a family connection through Varania. That didn't work out for him. That doesn't mean he's not suited for a family.
I've never been one of those 'they should get together and have babies!!11' types, I couldn't ever see my Wardens having kids and the idea of Shepard going domestic makes me cringe. I think it'd work for Hawke and Fenris, though. It really depends on the Hawke, but I don't at all think Fenris is incapable of settling down.
EDIT: I also disagree with the opinion that he would have trouble being affectionate with kids. All I can think of is when you give the option to kill Varania and he looks at her with the puppy eyes and says, "I would have given you everything." He didn't even know her, but she was family and that was enough for him.
