Huh... I just had a random thought but...

Does anyone else besides me see Fenris dancing to this at one point or another? Or is this a "just me" thing?

YESSSS PERFECT! YESSSSS!!!

Sad thing is, I would've never thought of it if my neighbors weren't having a party right now and blaring that song.

=Edit=

Now I wish I had clips of Fenris just randomly in cutscenes talking and walking around so I could make a video with those and that music. It'd be like a priceless jewel.

It's a default 'slaver' soundset, actually. Bunch of other npc yell to leave the pretty ones alive, in DA:Origins too.
That said, Danarius can't die enough times for my liking. I want a ressurect and kill again option. I'd be at it for days :P. Ironic, considering that if not for Danarius you'd never meet Fenris, but here you go.

I want a ressurect and kill again option too... I will never get tired of seeing that guy get his due. Evil old coot. Someone put a video up on youtube of what happens if you betray Fenris and give him back (purely for science it seems)... I think I died a little inside.  :crying:

BTW, this forum is great. I really need to come back here more often. lol

I've never watched that video, but I refuse to. Just thinking of giving Fen back to Danarius makes my heart ache and my stomach turn.

You miss out on Anders approving of it.

...He's very well-written... Yes. Frighteningly so. O.O

This is one of those  moments where I felt the "the player character is the most important person in the world" thing is really showing through. VAll the other companions disapprove strongly of it. With Varric, Sebastian and Aveline at the very least, I'd expect them to stand up to Danarius and protect Fenris, Hawke's decision be damned.

No, seriously. :P It really says something about how strongly he's into the whole "You're with us or against us, in which case I'll be happy if you get dragged off by slavers" attitude at that point... O.O

That bothers me so much. That and his "you're a jealous hypocrite because your sister is a mage even though you've had no memories of her and have never once made a comment that gave the impression that you wished you could use magic yourself - quite the opposite in fact." <_< Riiight. I've decided to attribute those weird Anders moments to Justice having warped him so very badly by Act 3, but still I find it...disturbing. Yet another reason for me to think Vengeance would strangle a rival romance Hawke in his/her sleep. XD

^WSS . I watched it and wished i could unsee it. It was horrible, and then someone says Danarius sends a friendly letter to Hawke sayign hwo he wiped Fenris' memory.. again. I shuddered a second time. so horrible!

I don't think Justice or Vengeance is to blame for that. It's actually far too human. It makes perfect sense. Anders in Act II had his moment of doubt about himself and his cause, but it's explicitly shown that in Act III it's no longer the case. The reason he jumps on the "you're a jealous hypocrite!" train is that it gives him the perfect excuse to dismiss an ideological opponent's potentially valid reasons for disagreeing with him as invalid, irrational arguments. The reason he approves of Fen going back to Danarius is probably that he's glad to be rid of him due to seeing him as no less than an enemy. But yes... it's disturbing.

@Shacary... it's worse than that. O.O He actually tells you you're free to visit him in Tevinter anytime. O_O

I watched that vid one time, out of curiosity as well, and it was heart wrenching. I wanted to press stop and forget it existed, and then wanted to huggle Fenris so badly and make him feel better. >.< They'll never take him dammit! *stabs Danarius repeatedly*

There are a couple of things in DA2 that I will never be able to bring myself to do, even in my most epic Douche!Hawke playthroughs. Turning Fenris over is one of them.

My Douche!hawke was totally friendmancing Fenris so there was no way he was getting turned over.  Also told my hubby that with his evil mage PT, he was not allowed to turn over Fenris.  That just doesn't play in this house.

The worst part is how he simply gives up... He's so broken up by your betrayal that his faith in freedom and friendship is shattered, and he just goes with Danarius without a fight... O.O

I often play morally questionable characters and don't mind dabbling in the dark side, but I could never turn Fenris over to Danarius. Ever.

Maybe it's strange, I find myself wishing they'd made Danarius into a more grounded, likable, perhaps even charismatic and attractive man - the type who would actually temp me into siding with him against someone my Hawke has known for years. But as he is, he has the cackling villain (Vaughn-esque) vibe that inspires instant hatred. Not that I want to turn Fen over to him...it'd just be interesting if was a little less black and white.

I'd never be able to go through with turning Fenris over.

I did say that I was going to as a rival once, then changed my mind. It was like "Ha, no I was totally joking, but you should've seen the look on your face!"

On a slightly happier note (because thinking about turning Fenris over just breaks me): here is some evidence that in spite of his denials, Fenris does make puppy eyes when Hawke's back is turned.

Even when Hawke is sporting his doofy pirate outfit.

I have to disagree that he is a 'cackling villain' here. He comes across as very composed and arrogant.
If I want to give the "Vaughnesque" badge to anyone in this game it would be Ser Alrik.

The sheer arrogance dripping of Danarius and that voice did make me hate him instantly too though.

/well done, that voice

I don't see it as black and white. Black and whilte, cackling-villain style would be if he'd sacrificed a kid for blood as he came on-stage, or threatened to kill Varania if Fenris didn't come along, or revealed that he planted a bomb in the Alienage.

Instead, he's just... exactly as you imagine him from Fenris's stories. Self-assured, arrogant, thinking of a slave as property, thinking of himself as in the right to own that property.

What I wish is that they'd made him more intelligent, as befits a Tevinter magister. "Ambush" the elf in broad daylight in the inn where everybody knows your name and the spymaster of your party actually lives while he and his gang are still standing near the exit? Uh-huh, sure. The scene was very poingnant, but the actual confrontation and Danarius as an opponent felt rather anticlimactic to me, considering the importance of this in Fen's arc.

He is arrogant enough to think that he has the power to deal with it. Lowtown is still lowtown, so I can't really fault him there.

Edit: I didn't mean cackling as in literally like Vaughn - poor choice of words on my part. I meant that instant hate feeling that came from the way he spoke. It inspired the same "Right, like I'd ever let you live?" thought. No, he's not cackling.
