Avalia Pamunalis is actually Fenris' old band, they used to rock out throughout Tevinter until the tour bus left early and Fenris was left behind for booze money to the local Magister.

Fenris was the bass player they could do without, huh?

I would have thought the use of the word "vintage" would have told you that's the name of the wine he likes.

In real life I wouldn't either, but
since this is a video game, and since Hawke isn't me, I don't mind. I
think it'd be really interesting actually.

True. Fantasy romances have nothing to do with real-life romances. Some of these characters are seriously screwed up. When people say things like "I want to date my romance" or "why can't they be more sensible like someone in real life" my response is generally "Good God, why would you want that? This is a fantasy in more ways than just the genre."

In other words, if I gave some of these people what they thought they wanted, my suspicion is they wouldn't actually want it. So I excel at giving people what they don't want. Which is weird, but there you go.

Then why are you trying to read more into it than that? It's the name of the wine, nothing more.

So... I'm the minority when I like the most "normal" romances?

Yay!

Hmm...scrolling through page 136 and I see this name, this "Avalia." Who the hells is this? :?

Yes, quoting myself but I wanna know who this Avalia is :pinched:

Not a clue...

But we're assuming 9:27 is a important date to Fenris.

Was looking through the thread and "Avalia" is part of the name of the drink Lord Gaider said was his fav drink or something like that  how the heck did someone confuse that for an ex-wife?! DAO alcohol has weird names for drinks! "Dragon ******" being one

Were still not sure what relevence "Avalia Pamunalis"  has yet.

Maybe it's an actual type of wine in the DA universe that will be mentioned in DA2. Maybe it was just made up off the top of his head just for that post.

Maybe it's the skeptic in me coming out but I'm disinclined to believe there are any hints in that message. I think he was just making a joke. I think 9:27 was just meant to be a year that is before the "current" one (meaning 9:30 or later), as giving the vintage was part of the joke.

Could totally be wrong though, but I think we often tend to read too much into stuff (points to Varric thread and earlier in this thread for evidence). Not that that's a bad thing--it's fun to do when you don't have much information--but either way I think we're doing it now.

I don't think David is much of a subtle hint-dropper. It seems that usually if he is willing to give us information (which is seldom enough), he'll just come out and say it. I'd love to be mistaken though. If anyone here reads GRRM's blog, you'll remember his hints about casting for the HBO show...those were a lot of fun.

Edit: LOL,'d (twice) by the man himself

Dear, you really have to read carefully. Lol. You just combined like three things into one story.

1. Avalia was me saying I hope the name of the drink isn't the name of some woman mixed with something else...

2. No one ever said anything about the actual drink being an ex wife. We just said we didn't want more carth syndrome. NOT THAT CARTH WAS BAD. Just kinda tired of that concept tbh.

3. Don't read into it too much :P

Even though you're saying otherwise, I'm going to have to say it:

Ah, so there was a reason why you have never disbuted the Amgarrak / Arlanthan theory. (Unless you did in the old thread, but I had no idea of it's existance 'til I showed up at about page 50 here).

The scientist in me says: "Just because something hasn't been disproven doesn't mean it can't exist. It also doesn't mean it must exist."

In other words, you cannot go "Aha this theory must be correct because Word of God hasn't denied it yet!" Nor can you rule out the theory altogether with the information you have so far.

I'd rather they didn't go the "former lover" route.

Luckily the amnesia angle allows greater room to avoid it, anyway.

I was just asking how people felt about a love interest you couldn't touch. Given that people thought Tali and Garrus were fine, I'm not surprised many don't care. I am surprised I'm the only one who seems to see it as a negative.

Don't mind me. I'll go sit in the shallow and unromantic corner.

I'm wondering why this sort of complaint should keep me from doing this in the future, and I really can't imagine it. My version of "fantasy romance" does not extend to "you're the only person they've ever loved or will love EVER". Sorry.

Sort of funny all things considering, a lot of people tend to hate their romances when they slept with more than one person or loved more than one person but you see people wanting cat fights and sexual encounters everywhere. There's a double standard here!

So.

He DID have a former lover? Or no? And this:
