Reading the last couple pages of this thread totally cheered me up from my Monday work funk! Fenris just makes everything better.

Oh, and so glad I'm not the only one who loves Fenris AND Thane (and also Kaidan, but just on the one playthrough)!

I heard "Do You Believe in Magic" on the radio this morning, and started cracking up thinking about how that song and "It's Magic" by Pilot would probably drive him into a frenzy. Probably not songs he coreographs dance routines to, unless those routines involve falcon punching mages somehow. lol

I was with someone who had never played Dragon Age when this happened. I think they thought I was crazy.

Yes, he stays.  As long as you have friendship/rivalry far enough over, it doesn't matter who you side with in the end.

I really wish I could remember the line that he said when he sticks around if you side with the mages. It was something about how he thought that even though you were making a mistake that he wouldn't abandon you. I almost swooned myself to death, because I really wasn't expecting that. I thought it was a really telling moment. Even though he never says the "L" word in the game, so many of his other lines just say it so much better. Just another reason why I really <3 this character, and demand that he reappears if/when there is a Dragon Age 3.

I think I've been Fenned. I started a new mage play through fully intent on romancing Anders and running off together. I thought I'd get Fenris', "Bait and Switch" quest out of the way early. That was my first mistake. Then I walked out of the mansion. There was Fenris leaning against the wall, expressing his disapproval and being positively attractive. So, I flirted. Then came the laugh followed by the cough and the shy, small smile. That was my second mistake. Once I talked to him at the mansion, I could help myself. I was nice, pleasant even, and unabashedly flirtatious. Anders doesn't have a chance.

That's how it goes. That line both came as a pleasant surprise to me and totally didn't - because it was just impossible to imagine he'd separate himself from the one thing in his life that finally started making sense and making him truly happy.

But still - yeah, so adorable. ^^

I've heard that Anders is supposed to have the same option, though - of siding against his faction - and that it doesn't trigger because of a glitch. O.o Apparently the next patch is going to fix that! O.o It doesn't make sense to me. Anders by definition is so uncompromising by the end that siding with the Templars would go against literally everything established of his character during the whole game...

I know! First playthrough, unspoiled, when push came to shove and my rival mage was siding against Meredith, I resigned myself for the heartbreak and expected him to say that he cannot allow this to happen. So. "This is a mistake, but I won't abandon you now" line? I felt like I could take on all the demons and templars in the world combined . Gallows kiss? There's no feeling like being on top of the world I've done plenty of swooning over Fenris cinematic designer, and I'm definately going to continue for a long while yet!

Finaly finished rivalmance and...I have to say that friendmance is still a WIN for me
However,  I do like what he says after "Alone" quest on the rival path better.
What I found interesting was "the flow" of his voice on both paths. It feels more natural with friendly romance as his tone stays the same or similar to the rest of non-romance content in the game, while on rival path there were those angry snaps only in our private conversations and don't get me wrong I don't mind him snapping. I just expected some more of it while questing as well...I probably fail in explaining exactly what I mean but I hope you get the picture

What I still hate in both romances is the way, diplomatic Hawke asks him "I need to understand why you left Fenris" and then she says "I understand, I always understood" ...This is just such a *facepalm* moment for me that it ruins the whole thing. Sarcastic Hawke has actually some better lines here but still...When I think of Fenris romance as a whole it feels very well writen and very rewarding at the end of the game but this particular reconciliation act lives me always slightly disappointed. It has so much potential and I feel like it was just kinda pasted hastily together with some leftovers. Well everything in act 3 feels kinda pasted hastily together but I digress.
Someone talented should totaly fenfic rewrite that scean!

@sushismygen: I agree - I think Hawke should have had more standing.up.for-herself lines there. The "I always understood" was just blah. She should have called him on his "I needed to be happy a few hrs", and then letting her WAIT 3 yrs for any mention or apology.
