As usual Im behind the topics but always wanna chime in, Flemeth seemed kinda regretful about the story she told warden about being young and beuaitufl and it began the entire ordeal [ parphrasing, of her running in wldnerness w/e becoming Flemeth was]. In the calling it does allude to AListair being of an elven mama named fiona, it doesnt name the kid but i mean.... well u know there might be a trillion bastards out there too, but seems a good guess that was ALisair.
In the Stolen throne Maric did meet Flemeth, he was wha ti think was still in his teens, altho i dont rememebr which book , Maric says he paid a high price for Flemeth's info. NO idea what that could be, since Morrigan refers to flemeth using the chasind men up and then killing them when they had nothing left... kinda like a spider *shivers*
ALso they claimed Maric drowned in a boat... but mb he was actually going to Fiona and that was a ruse? Altho I had the pet theory for a while that Duncan may have bene taken to the architect and was the one Velannas sister was Bonded too....
anywyas that prolly off topic, but to me this Champion story was weak... what was the story if not a prelude? a set up for an orleasian war of sorts or something? I like to hope there will be more to tying all their disappearrances together and answering the mystery of Flemeth..

OOO also dont forget if u dont have any warden do Morrigan or her ritual [ yes they both seperate things as she gets expecting even if she doesnt get the DR with a male warden.] the epilogue talks of her being seen high up in orleasian court... soo.. im not sure what that means for the " over all story' but as peeps say plot protection and zombies abound if it suits the writers.
im rambling.

Edit  eep on top and i  dont know how to link   the gif..

So. Me and the lovely Namuri were talking about Fenris and his "I don't deserve Hawke" issue. We believe that's...loads of crap. two truck loads at least. We think that entire idea is pretty crappy considering, well, if Fenris were to say he doesn't deserve Hawke, but essentially Hawke chose to be with him, isn't he pretty much indirectly calling Hawke stupid or something silly like that? I guess it's not the right way to put it, but um, Namuri came up with an awesome dialogue between Fenris and Isabella about this "issue", and I can't explain it any better than that. . Namuri thinks Isabella is a bit OoC here, but I don't think so

Fenris: I... she deserves better?

Isabela: Oh? Does she now?

Fenris: Why... are you looking at me like that.

Isabela: I just find it ... funny that you can say something so very, very selfish

Fenris: ...what?

Isabela: Did you ever think that, maybe, //she's// the one who knows what's best for her? That, JUST MAYBE, she doesn't care about who 'deserves' who, and that by saying she deserves someone better then you, what you're really doing is insulting //her//?

Fenris: What?

Isabela: Because that's what you're doing when you say that. You're insulting her, belittling her while you belittle yourself, because, in the end, she 'chose' you. And you have the gall to say that she 'deserves' someone better? Don't you think that would HURT? To know that the person you love thinks so little of themselves, and of you, that they could say that?

Fenris: I-

Isabela: That's why she'll never take you back, too. Because of that doubt, that... self pity. She wants someone who's HAPPY to be with her, not wishing she'd chosen someone 'better'. Someone who wants to be with her, instead of brooding over how they'll only hurt her, or themselves. Maker, puppy, THINK before you speak sometimes. (walks away)

Ah, PS3 player for Dragon Age here.  We sad console players...oh well.  Policies are policies and such.

Don't stone me, but I kind of want the patch next week.  I got too much work to do this week and I'm waiting for a patch before I start another playthrough.  This will allow me to get some work done.

I hope this patch fixes the Isabela bug too. After 3 PTs in 2 weeks I think I should take a small break as well. I am going to my parents' for the Easter holidays anyway, so that is 2 weeks without Fenris in game... Although I can always stalk fanart, youtube and the like. >:D

Unfortunately, psychological issues don't work as simply and rationally as that. Fenris believes he doesn't deserve Hawke because he feels like he doesn't deserve happiness in general, because of the whole "I'm a creature tainted by magic and still can't act like I'm no longer a slave and there's all this hatred and me viciously killing people". Which is understandable, really. Also keep in mind that "My life is worth something and I deserve happiness" probably isn't the sort of mindset that's encouraged in slaves, or very likely to develop in slaves, particularly amnesiacs.

Simply getting called out on it won't just make the issue go away - if anything, it'll just add guilt for treating Hawke unfairly, which would only deepen the issue and self-loathing and further convince him that she doesn't deserve someone so screwed up that he doesn't notice he's treating her unfairly until someone rubs his face in it. That's how negative thinking works, and Fenris is a hell of a negative thinker.

Particularly because the "I'm not good enough for her" attitude doesn't have to be seen as being insulting to Hawke. He can believe, for example, that the reason she still wants him is because she puts too much faith in people, and admire the quality while still believing her to be making a mistake in his case.

Who was it that had said that Fenris is unique in that he has twice the
muscle of every other elf in the game and those huge broad shoulders? I
am certainly agreeable with it, however. Having Fenris look like a
walking stick like any of the Dalish would make me sad.

This wasn't exactly the wording she used, but it was  Sarah Hayward, Fenris' cinematic designer when she commented on his model when chatting with some fans about his tattoos.

Exact quote:

Unfortunately I'm not at liberty to disclose his entire tattoo design... mostly because I honestly don't know it. Posted Image

If
you notice, Fenris's torso/upper body is particularly unique, not only
for the tattoos, but also because he is literally the broadest
shouldered and most beefy elf in the game. His model is quite unique. If
you stand him next to the normal male elf model (any in the game will
do) you'll notice his shoulders and his biceps are half again as thick
with muscle. With that in mind I'm sure you'll understand that due to
time restraints his character artist didn't have the budget to create a
shirtless version (like myself and his writer were initially hoping for
for his post sex dialogue) so his tats are free reign for speculation.
XD

That's one of the reason I (severely) dislike the mods that try to shove different looking armor on him in game. It looks so, so wrong.

Thank you! That was the one I was talking about. :) I haven't even checked any mods that would put him in a different armor - I secretly wish that we will see something more of him in DA3.. Preferably in a more revelaing make out scene as well (DAO had it, it makes me sad that we don't even see them in their underwear in DA2 - except for Hawke of course, if we take off the armor).
*hopes bioware is listening and will show more of Fenris flesh in the future*:innocent:

Yeah, I definitely agree with you there -- not to mention Fenris has one of the best companion armor designs in the game. Ah well, different strokes for different folks I suppose. xD

hmm, I do agree with you, but I'm looking at it from act 3...after Fenris is still wearing her favor (that's a bit conflicted, which is fine since he doesn't exact tell Hawke how he feels hardly) and I guess before/after Danarius. You're right, he doesn't believe he deserves happiness and his life is worthless, but I do think after 7 years companionships, he would've had more confidence. He's confused about it, no doubt, and not sure what to do with all that trust and being grounded. I just think, throughout the those same 7 years, Hawke never moved on and whatnot and Fenris is still using the same reasoning? that's something beyond self-loathing, no? more than he just needed that push to reaffirm this feeling business, to know it is ok for him to love and be happy? Danarius' death provided that, and I do picture if that very blunt conversation actually took place between Fenris and Isabella around that time, i think the positive impact would be more. He'd probably say "perhaps you're right, but it is none of your business" and goes off thinking and brood :P

I don't know... As we discussed a few pages back, if you reject him after Alone, even outright telling him that you *don't care what he does*, he takes it depressingly in stride.... I think you're underestimating the depths of his self-loathing after leaving Hawke. I think him climbing out of that hole is such a gradual process that by the aftermath of Alone he is only tentatively ready for happiness enough to apologise and try to actively salvage things.

Oh yes, I do agree it is a gradual process, and I think after alone if you don't reject him it gives him confidence. My point was that to say he doesn't deserve Hawke is crap, because it's got absolutely nothin to do with that. Perhaps I worded it badly.
