This is excellent. I can't even, I....

I think I just died a little inside. Or a lot. :crying::crying::crying:

I really hope this works out. Or I'm going to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool with tears.

Need moar chapters.

+100 approval @ Hekateras for linking this.

I second this ...FFS I'm quite traumatized, need moar, need happy.

Late to the party, but THIS. 'Twas the first time a fic made me tear up in a loooong time. Poor Fen and Hawke :crying:

Oh no, now all I'm going to be thinking about all night is that freaking purple cat appearing in front of Fenris and telling him that he's the unicorn prince...
Oh David Gaider, you and your comedic responses :D

Dr.Doctor --- I read your banter out loud to my husband, and he laughed, and agreed. The quote is "****ing giant spiders. You'd think you should be able to hear them from a lot closer, with the size that they are. But no. Bioware likes to think its funny to scare the absolute **** out of everyone by making them JUMP OUT at the last second with that AMAZINGLY irritating noise."

Which, I replied that in DA2 they're less irritating, but still "jump out of nowhere".

He cringed ;p

As a sidenote, there is now a mod on the nexus that replaces Fenris with a human. I think opportunity to mod the game in general is awesome, but some things just make me shake my head and move on.

So, has anyone figured out the magic formula for being able to have a fling with Isabella and still initiate the romance with Fenris? I know several people have done it this successfully, but every way I've tried so far has completely broken or cut off the possibility of a Fenris romance.

Is there some special sequence of events, approval, or other factors that can be pinpointed? I'd really like to get this to work just once for some of the amusing banters it seems to trigger.

Just finished the rivalmance and I have to say that while some parts were better than the friendmance, I think overall I like the friendmance better. Was disappointed that the conversation remained the same when Fenris wanted to talk about what happened between him and Hawke. I think they could have changed that up a bit.

You and I seem to be the only one who enjoyed the friendmance more around these parts :D If I might ask, were you a mage, or a rogue, or warrior? I find it truly ironic that I friendmanced him as a mage.

People often site that the rivalmance was more passionate, but really, Fenris just seemed angrier to me, which doesn't automatically mean it's more passionate. You get the glowy wall kiss even if you friendmance him, which is what people always squee over with the rivalmance. So...I don't know.

I have enough of an imagination to fill in the blanks of their relationship, so I've always believed that he was conflicted even in my friendmance. After all, my Hawke was a mage :) I don't know...I guess I just love the tenderness of the friendmance over the anger of the rivalmance. He's been through too much in his life already, he deserves to be in a happy relationship, not a toxic one.

That said, I would never try to tell other people what to think. To each their own, and all that. And I can understand why other people greatly enjoy the rivalmance. It is fantasy, after all, and not real life.

While I think the whole romance was writen very well, the reconcilation dialogue is missing a lot!
Fenris lines are somewhat decent but Hawke's are plain *facepalm* Especially diplomatic Hawke.

"I need to undertand Fenris...oh wait...I always understood...let's kiss! " Posted ImagePosted Image

I mean, come on... they didn't speak of what happened for 3 freaking years!
There was so much potential in that scean, so many ways to talk about it...
Oh well, at least we got a nice kiss in Gallows...

I like sarcastic Hawke in that situation: "Oh, I don't know. It might be fun to hold this over you awhile longer."

I like to reconcile the fact that I helped so many mages in Act 3 and the fact that he never disapproved with his personality by imagining Hawke turning to him and saying "Three years. Three years. You're not allowed to judge."

What is most appealing is the intensity of the rivalmance...when things happen like the glowy kiss...I think it's the intense feeling that is injected in the situation that wows everyone....including me...but passion is what each of us has a little bit differently and see in different events so they probably did the best they could to touch on that for everyone in some way. I ... imho ... think the friendmance was more for me but that either one could be better.

The conversation bites... no matter which mance you take... major complaint there...

I hope that gap is filled in a little with new DLC though it may be unlikely

I prefer the friendmance too...yes, the intensity in the rivalmance does go to 11, but I prefer the friendmance for the relationship between Hawke and Fenris.  I agree that he's had enough conflict in his life, I like to think that it's better long-term for him to be in a relationship that gives him calm and comfort. I also think that Fenris, like Sten, has a bit of a softie inside him waiting for an excuse to come out, that I think you can see a bit in his interaction with Hawke (the look in Alone, the "Please don't die" at the end), how he searches for his sister against his better judement, and even with Sebastian when it comes to the subject of faith - a closely guarded side of his personality that would not ever be on public display but reserved for his love and perhaps very close friends.

Yep. I'm in complete awe how well drawn and composed the pages are. And I really like the artist's Hawke. He just seems so... at peace. Lends the scenes a sence of tranquility (eh... for the lack of a better word. Not the emotionless kind of tranquility, just calmness that's kinda contageous).

I played a rogue and warrior.. saving the mage for last...

Given what little we do know about him and hsis past, he would be so reserved that either scenario would/could happen. Seeing that wall come down with Fenris and allowing emotion other than his 'poison' to happen was nice... and he deserves to be able to trust like that finally after all that he remembers with Danarius.

Yeah. I'm glad more people like the friendmance  I have nothing at all against the rivalromances, considering that's the path my male rogue is on with Merrill, but I love the friend path more with Fenris.

Hmmm. I'm trying to decide what's more disturbing. The Anders' thread or this thread...I don't think Fenris would approve of this thread.
