Heck I got the feeling no one even knows the Tome is gone (save the Qunari who you can slaughter). Much less that Isabela took it.

Castillon knows.  People who work closely with Castillon probably know.  Any of Isabela's surviving crew - I don't recall if any did or not - know.

I doubt Castillon or any of his lieutenants would have any problem whatsoever selling out Isabela to Cassandra.

I get that Origins had characters like that.  When David Gaider acknowledges it, says that DA2 wants to improve upon that and then explicitly states that Fenris does not suffer from this issue... then saying he is like Leliana in any way is implicitly agreeing with why I find the lack of a clear role for Fenris so disappointing given his statements in the first place.

*sidetracking for a sec*

Now I feel bad; you've been explaining your viewpoints for hours and you had to repeat what you said here and there...like the one above

Why would Cassandra give a hoot about Isabela if the Champion didn't know her? She's trying to track down Hawke is she not? How is Isabela any help at all to that goal if she and Hawke don't know each other?

Cassandra has the resources to do major investigative work. It's probably how they got Varric in the first place, unless he was just hanging out waiting to be taken in at the Hanged Man or something.

Because Isabela is part of the reason why Hawke became Champion in the first place? And she might not know that Hawke never spoke to her personally? For all we know, there could be rumors that they were in cahoots and orchestrated the whole Qunari thing to begin with so Hawke could make a power grab.

It happens when you stay in a thread for a while, new people get involved and I don't really expect them to go back and read everything that's been covered already.

Isabela took the book sure but she didn't make the Qunari attack Kirkwall and she didn't help Hawke repell the Qunari.

Why would she even think Isabela and Hawke knew each other?

The latter is just...odd. Why would there be such a rumor?

Varric did mention that he wanted to tell the story.  I have a hard time imagining Isabela being as cooperative with law enforcement figures.

Edit: It's been on my mind a bit today though, how much more ah, provocative Isabela's version of the story could be. /off topic

Why would there be rumors that the Blight never happened? Because people make **** up.

And there can't be rumors of the strange elf in Hightown knowing the Champion as well? Since people are just making **** up.

Why wouldn't there be? Cassandra also seems to be under the impression that Hawke was the one who deliberately took action against the Chantry. Or some other incorrect assumption.

Edit: You have a point.

Because she's trying - or at some point, likely when she was working (or more likely, had others working) on the book, trying to figure out what the hell happened at Kirkwall in the first place.  Determining this, at least from sources available to her, she decided that Hawke was the key, and tracked down Varric in order to locate him/her.

In any case, I'm not sure how on topic a focused discussion on the nature of Cassandra's research and the involvement of Isabela in it is.  A fair tangent though, given how the conversation has been going.

The Chantry and the Qunari are related how?

Unless you're gonna include mother Peatrice which in that case Peatrice should've been in that book.

And again what sense is Carver/Bethany not being in the book make?

He did, but he also asks Cassandra if he can go during the interrogation. Right at the start you see him being dragged in, not walking down the hallway having a pleasant chat with the Seekers.

Hawke also knows Athenril/Meeran and Lady Elegant and Worthy and Seneschel Bran and any number of other people in Kirkwall and they aren't in the book.

*sigh* The pictures in the book are of Hawke's companions. That Fenris and Isabela are in there whether they're recruited or not is because of resources. The same reason that Hawke is depicted as a man in the narration artwork and the statue is male as well even if Hawke is female.

The art is not always accurate. I can think of how they could have made that book work and have changing portraits in it -- but I'm pretty sure they ran out of resources.

Could be because they don't have a bunch of rumors and dubious origins surronding them.

And they might be in the book. Just not on the pages we saw.

And again it still makes no sense that Isabela would be in a book over a Circle Mage Bethany or a Templar Carver.

They're not really, but how would Cassandra know that if she doesn't even know basic facts about Hawke either?

Why would she think they're related to being with? Considering the qunari were gone three years before the mage incident.

I was a bit sad when the statue was of a man and not my F!Hawke. I thought 'ah. they got a few details wrong'.

She kind of knew Hawke was in the center of everything. All the rest she believed were exaggerating.

That's a different question, and not one we should reasonably have to answer to demonstrate that it's possible that her total cluelessness could lead to an unlimited number of factually incorrect interpretations of events.
