when you play bait and switch, Fenris inquires about what was in the crate 9the one used as bait) and seems hopeful that it was something specific, and dissapointed that it was empty. Do we ever find out what he was hoping for?

Not that I'm aware of.  I wonder if it's some childhood toy or some other relic of his past.  Maybe it's something that got lost on the cutting room floor.

I always got the impression that he wasn't expecting anything specific, just...something, anything. Like, maybe a clue as to how Danarius keeps finding him (because as some point Fenris speculates that he doesn't know how Danarius always finds him, and perhaps it has something to do with his markings), or maybe his actual location.

Oh no.  I like rivalmancing him with a mage.  Makes sense that he's fighting it the entire way.  And he's not really anti-mage (no really, read beyond this sentence).  He actually doesn't think all mages are evil or bad or guilty of anything.  His point is all it takes is one weak mage to turn to blood magic or become possessed to do far more damage than any non-mage could by far.  And also, since mages are so powerful, given freedom, the weak and the corrupt will rule because, well, they can and nothing can stop them.

He believes a mage Hawke is strong and won't fall to temptation.  Whether that's true or not is another issue, but it's an issue that goes beyond Fenris.  Anders also hates blood mages but will be with a blood mage.  

There SHOULD be major drama in regards to this and there just... isn't. I don't really see how he fights it any more than he fights being with Hawke in general.

I don't really like Anders with a blood mage either but Anders is also a very desperate man so it is easier to handwave.

I admit it, I was disappointed, even in the rivalry path with my mage hawke+Fenris with the  lack of You're a MAGE!!  discussion in the romance. Add to the fact that it just wasn't that much different from the friendship romance path.

yup, it was never mentioned again. I asked this many pages back too and even started a thread about it. but of course...inconclusive. I hope this gets answered one day and it's not a plothole or some sort.

Not everyone likes all the LIs for sure.  Nothing wrong with that at all. 

I don't dislike him, I even have a character who romanced him (did the whole three year blue balls thing too!). I just wish there were more conflict because that would make him more interesting. There's not really much to dislike as much as be bored by.

I just want more... something. Anything. As it stands he's just stagnant. It seems that what I want is exactly what the Fenris fans don't, and I am fine with that. I just wish that the limited resources hadn't created situations where there isn't any more conflict than usual where there should have been. But romances are optional and they're not going to cut portions of content (or add a lot more) based on the class a player chooses.

Anders could be unwilling to enter into a romance with a blood mage or a warrior with templar specialization. That'd be a better comparison.

Fenris actively has a thing against mages. It's practically the core of his character and narrative role. That there wasn't significantly more conflict in a mage romance than a warrior/rogue romance is odd. It was obviously done because it would have taken much more time and money to add additional dialogue/scenes just for mage players, but it is still weird considering he feels strongly enough about mages to call Bethany a viper for being one.

Yes, because that is clearly what I said.

Anders hates templars and blood mages, and yes it would have been interesting if he wouldn't enter relationships with them either. He doesn't have issues with entire classes, rogues or warriors in general. I am saying that it would have  made Fenris' character more interesting if he had a line he wouldn't cross in regards to that, since his issues with mages are a major part of his shtick. Given his background it doesn't seem character-breaking for him to, while not wanting to outright kill mages, not want have sex and relationships with them either. And if he would, since he does, there should have been major conflict (a hell of a lot more than he would if Hawke wasn't a mage).

Fenris actively has a thing against anyone in power.  I'm guessing you haven't taken him to the Guard barracks.  Mages just happen to have more of it, and more potential to do horrible things with it, courtesy their connection to the Fade.  And, to be fair, Fenris calls Bethany a viper before he's gotten the chance to know her at all or travel with her.  If you follow his character arc far enough, he comes to appreciate her.

I certainly wouldn't have minded more content, but then people would be complaining about unfairness.
