Really?!

huh...interesting...
so I can assume that...it kinda like that for all companions? Well, not Aveline with The Long Road Home or whatever it's called, I heard she doesn't marry Donnic if you don't help her.

It's definitely that way for Varric.  After playing his first companion quest on my first playthrough in Act 2, I decided I was done talking to him and left him in the inn untouched for all of Act 3.  I don't think the house thing ever happened at all.  I don't think I even got new codex entries for him.  Second playthrough, I deliberately refused to help him with both house quests and he dealt with them both himself per the codex.

Actually, if you don't ever activate those quests, and look at his codex entry, it says eventually he dealt with it by himself. He just never mentions it to you - I would assume because he figures you won't care.

The Hanged Man

Varric: So, elf. How goes the whole 'hunted by a Magister' thing going for you?

Fenris: Alright.

Varric: Just alright? No, 'My life is ****, I must brood' or 'Magic has tainted my soul'? What gives?

Fenris: I killed Danarius last week. Right here in the Hanged Man.

Varric: Bull****, you took on a Magister by yourself in the middle of the tavern? That sounds like one of my stories.

Coriff: He's not kidding Varric, Norrah had to work all through the night just to scrub all the blood off of the floor.

Varric: If there was an epic battle going on in here last week where was I?

Fenris: Playing ghost hunter with Hawke.

Bartrand's Estate, last week

Hawke and Merrill have the Etheral Golem trapped in two streams  of magical energy

Varric: Whatever the two of you do don't cross the streams!

Hawke: What?

the Golem explodes and the scene cuts back to Varric and Fenris

Varric: Oh, right. So what are you going to do now that you're a free man? Start a dance studio? Take up gardening?

Fenris: I think I'll just keep doing the same thing I usually do.

Varric: Get your ass handed to you by Isabela in Wicked Grace?

Fenris: Very funny.

Varric: What are you going to do now?

Fenris:  The same thing I do every night, Varric.  Try to take over Thedas!

I just want to say that I love you all. It's been a while since I've sat down and read through a bunch of pages and not skimmed or skipped to the latest posts. Perhaps I've just been missing most debates since I'm not on here as often now that the game is out, but usually when I drop by there's a lot of fangirling and/or rehashing going on and not much discussion. So thanks for a few splendidly wasted hours of character analysis, I enjoyed it to no end.

Ditto to everything lizzbee said - probably ever. XD Thank you so much for clarifying how Fenris is NOT an extremist.

Also, introvertedness for the win!

Off to bed now. X_X

Thanks!

Hooray for introverts! :wizard:

Lol...I just can't even imagine what it would take for that....

Sebastian:  I care for you, but I cannot forsake my vow to Andraste.  Join me, here in the Chantry.  We can have a holy, chaste marriage.

Fenris:  Um...what?  I only recently allowed myself to open up enough to discover sex and you want me to forswear it for the rest of my days?

Sebastian:  ...yes?

Isabella:  Oh honey, don't you listen to that silly priest.  I can show things much more fulfilling than religion and marriage.  *wink*

Fenris:  Forgive me, Sebastian. *walks out arm and arm with Isabella*

Sebastian:  Nooo!!!

Lol, more stupidity.

Fenris: May I try a sip of that?

Sebastian: Of course.

Fenris: I am curious about what a five sovereign milkshake tastes like. (takes a sip)

Sebastian: Well?

Fenris: That is an excellent milkshake. I do not see why it is worth five soveregins, but it is quite a beverage nonetheless.

I know it was explained to me, but I still suck at posting images, so you'll just have to make due with a link: here.

I haven't seen this on here, but I could be wrong. There were a lot of pages I missed while I was playing the game ^_^

So... it's kind of weird actually.  It's almost as if - in those games - that Danarius forgot about him or simply stopped caring.

If there's any karma in Thedas then Danarius just rots in the existential prison he's made for himself.  Not quite as impressive end as being b*tch slapped by Fenris, but he didn't earn such a glorious death anyway.

Danarius - and by extension Fenris - would have been more interesting as a story to me had Danarius not been a Snidely Whiplash cartoon villain.

I'm really not sure how that would have worked or even if it could - "graying up" slavery and indeed involuntary body modification to boot - but like pseudocognition pointed out earlier, Dragon Age is full of gray-and-gray morality... Danarius being just so thoroughly evil seemed out of place.

It certainly was about 20 pages back. It is not anymore.

This thread was my "happy place" far away from venomous cat fights in other general thread discussions. Not saying it is as bad here cuz obviously everyone stays on cicilized level, but it's still quite annoying. We are all different and see Fenris in our on way. I have nothing against the exchange of varrying opinions but what went on here for some time was not it.

Upsettingshorts...you came here to blow off your frustration or irritation or whatever might have you making Fenris a target. Arguing just for arguments sake. No matter how many of your theories got compromized here, you just went on adding new ones or getting entangled back in old ones. What started as an interesting discussion, turned into walking in circles around a subject that people will never agree on because we are all different and we see things differently.
You said at the start that if there was a thread that dislikes Fenris you would post it there but there wasn't one so you came here instead. Well, hate to break it to you but there is one. Here, I dug it up for you. Why don't you go and share your "love" out there...

This should clear up any uncertainties regarding his character and understanding him
