I actually did get rewarded for it but only once out of my 3 playthroughs Just met a guardsman in Hightown at night with a "completed" quest mark over his head, totally out of the blue. He said something along the lines "good job getting rid of all those gangs/bandits" It must be it cuz I have never seen him standing there before and I'd remember if he'd give me the quest. Maybe we need to look in ever corner of the city in hope of being attacked I don't know

The woman you need to meet for cleaning out the mobs is actually in one of the back rooms of the Hanged Man.

You have clear up a few waves in Lowtown, Docks and Hightown - each act has these three quests (I usually take two trips at night). Once you are done a pop up will tell you where their base is - head there and kill more bad guys again. After the first one a woman will approach you and tell you she is at the Hanged Man (it took me a while to find her - she is in the room across from Martin). Rinse and repeat. It's easy XP and money.

Hmmm...maybe I got the guardsman mixed up with some other quest but Im absolutely positive he was thanking me for wiping out the bandits.

Varric is wonderful. I'm really super unsure as to how anyone can dislike him, or his VO ;p He's never mean, only playful and snarky. He takes the time to check up on all of his friends! He continually expresses concern for Fenris's well being, pays off the Coterie to keep Anders out of harms way, makes darned sure Merrill isn't getting into trouble for being bumblingly adorable. He's drinking buddies with Isabela, co-conspiritor to Hawke. Hell, even Aveline likes him. And I mean likes, not just puts up with, like she does with Isabela in act 1 and Anders pretty much perpetually.

I had posters of Varric on my wall as a teenage girl...20 years ago. That's right, I LOVED Varric before Varric  was even BORN! Ok, his VO. I mean have you ever SEEN Brian Bloom? *fans self* those eyes, that voice:wub:...right, and Fenris rocks too.

Yes PLEASE!!!  As I've stated before, I'm of the mind that Fenris hates mages.  However, I don't have much to back that up besides "his slaver was a mage and he says it a bunch and that's why".  It's jsut a feeling I get.  Maybe people have some reasons I've missed, or reasons to the contrary.

So, discuss.....

I'm really don't see any mage hate personally. I see hatred of idiots with power but I share that hatred so I can see
where he's coming from.

I'm not gonna get into it now myself - but I'd like to read the arguments. I mean, I'd just be starting with the Fenris/dialog page on the Dragon Age wiki and going straight to his own words. So... by all means.

But it will be very brief and not very explanatory, right?  Something like "Upsettingshorts worked for The Department of Parks and Recreation."

He toasts friend mage hawke in Act 2 Questioning Beliefs she/he is the finest mage he's ever met . I'd say he hates most mages, but not all.
