I don't know about you guys, but I'm a big fan of dead corpse plastic mannequin sex.

tmp's and Dahlia's mod scenes did a good job of adding a little emotion to the scenes, but generally yeah, suggestion is better than naked pixel butt.

@ Schacary, I do think Isabela's character arc is sweet.  I haven't been able to bring myself to roll a male PC, but if I do I would pair him up with her.  Does she really sleep with Zevran even in a romance?  Hm... well, I guess you know what you're getting.  It does annoy me that people talk about her as though promiscuity= confidence and like it's some sort of virtue as opposed to just being a quirk.

OO exactly that Addai67, the promiscuity as confidence or virtue, that totally irks me as well. Women dont need to be promiscuous to be strong or courageous or " free". I think in a way it is glorifying the same attributes a lot of other games and movies do, big boobs, loose morals and me first attitudes [ black widow possible too], or the other end of the gamut where women are more like men... aka aliens [3? i think?] where the woman was more butch than the men... I think Aveline is more relaistic model of strong females even if they have given her man hands... which can totally happen since all of us are made differently and none of it is flawed ...

Aveline was a great character for what she was...strong seeming in her convictions and not afraid to go toe-to-toe.

Zev's wasn't too bad.  At least not compared to Alistair's.  I got the serious case of the creepies when Alistair did his little post-sex watching.  *squick*

As for Isabela [ sorry folks] I totally cant romance her, since she has no honor or faithfulness, at least Zev says, I am many things but I am not a cheat. ISa is liek that old line to me [ fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me!] She backstabs and I haev heard peeps that have romanced her she still ran off with zev, Sorry but if you are promiscuious , it doesnt mean that you are a strong free woman of the ages.... I dont even mind she does anything with or without legs, But I do mind the disloyalty. Cant stand it .

Fenris has no problems sleeping with her.

I cant imagine her " love" scenes being sweet, and I will never believe some twisted puke could ever embrace love and become unselfish with it. SHes a me first person,.. I cant love that.. Hawke can use her for fun, but no way she be the one to take home to mum.

Are you serious?

Ya know, meh...

I do see Isabela as a strong woman.  She knows what she wants and she takes it.   What is wrong with that?  The whole  "She's a hobag; therefore she's horrible" argument gets tiring and reeks of sexual double standards.  I do not see Isabela's morals as 'loose'.  If they were, she would never return with the book later.  She's a complicated character and I feel reducing her to essentially a ho from hotown' is discounting all the awesome that character possesses.

Ahh Im gonna agree with Ladyvixxen.... It doesnt really matter to me that Fenris has most LI moments, cuz I adore the character I would have loved even more! I totally cannot stand the anders love .. It felt so badly of a junkie snatching at a fix and the lines OMG cheesy [ at least imo, sorry if I offend, sometimes I am to opininated...] like reading a harlequin romance.. EWWWW corny.

It felt more like Twilight to me, especially with a female Hawke. :P  "I will only hurt you.  Don't want me, because I'll only hurt you.  I ache for you."  "This is the skin of a killer."  "I want you here, until the day we die!"

Strangely, it more or less worked with my male Hawke.  Probably because there's just something so horribly sappy with stoic men when they're given license to go all romantic, and ManHawke is nothing, if not stereotypically stoic.  Well, his voice is.  Plus the Karl thing you never hear about when you're a female Hawke just adds a little bit more intimacy to the relationship.

I dont midn you thinking that way tasmen.
I dont find her character disgusting cuz she's " loose", i find her disgusting becuz she is a betrayer. She isnt strong for just " taking" what she wants imo, that smacks of the villans that rob cuz " they wanted it".... I dont liek the character becuz I view her as unloyal and backstabbing. I appreciate others like her, I have read many peeps comments that they do.. I just... dont.. sorry...

I just don't see any particular virtue in it.  I realize people say "she's a strong, sexy woman" because they're trying to counter the idea that promiscuity is a vice, but there's no need to make it into some sort of big accomplishment, either.  I'd say the same for a man.

I, uh... have to disagree that her morals aren't loose.  It does take guts for her to return with the tome, but it was cowardly of her to take off with it in the first place.  She also makes pretty light of it all after the fact.  I don't think you have to stick a halo on her head to appreciate the character.  As I said, I like her character arc.

@ Rijni, Fenris has no problem sleeping with her, but there's also no indication he wants any more than the occasional booty call.

That's the thing... She's a character that exists within shades of grey and that is what makes her complex.  To reduce her to being just a 'betrayer' is not seeing the whole picture of the character.  Using that logic, Zevran is a betrayer and horrible and should be sent to his corner with no booty.  He betrayed the Crows when siding with the Warden.

Things are not always so clear cut.  Her taking the book (if that is the betrayal you are speaking of) happened before she met Hawke.  How is that being a betrayer?  Ultimately, she does return with it.  If she was truely disloyal as you claim, then she never would have come back.

If you are not speaking of the above example, where else did she backstab?  Going off to sleep with Zev hardly counts.

You also need to consider the environment Isabela is used to existing within.  People are selfish and only out for themselves.  It's only natural she would behave like that before she gets to know someone.  I actually find her to be one of the most loyal and rewarding friendships you can have in the game if you don't send her away with the Arishok.

The "Twilight" movie is surprisingly decent considering the source material.  Whoever the screenwriters were, they managed to carve an actual movie and plot out of Mary Sue adolescent vapors.  Unfortunately, you can still hear a bunch of SMeyer clunker lines in the middle of some otherwise snappy dialog.  I read the books back in the middle of NaNoWriMo a couple of years ago when I was having a major motivation slump, and damn, if they weren't helpful!  There's nothing like knowing that whatever dreck you're churning out is about 80 billion times better than Meyer's published swill.

So one can bash Isabela for not taking sex seriously but Fenris doesn't get the same treatment?  An isolated incident doesn't make it any better.  In fact, he said the Fog Warriors were "free with their affections" in a very fond manner,  so I'm fairly certain he would see virtue in Isabela's free love policy.

Also, Isabela doesn't make light of the situation.  She basically hides away from Hawke for three years and is still pretty ashamed to face him/her in Act 3.  She just doesn't let past mistakes haunt her, which is an admirable trait.  God knows that many of the other party members could have benefitted from the same mindset.

@All the Twilight references -- I'm willing to accept that the Anders Female Romance was like Twilight only if it is accepted that the particular romance device has been used before.  Stephanie Meyer was anything but revolutionary and creative.

I find her protect me from the duel crap a bit of stretch tbh... she doesnt tell the truth when you ask her, Ok she has a ****ty life in the past, hell a lot of us in RL did too and we dont all just use others like cannon fodder. She KNEW why the discord of the qunari was there and from selfishness did not reveal anything she knew. SHe ran with the goods, and left a note... Umm yay for friendhship... sorry ok she comes back..... Umm I can forgive some things but the death of folks that qunari slayed etc etc not to mention the danger she put us in? no it smacks to much to me.. AND thats ok, cuz its my game based on MY life values etc... I dont deny I may be wrong, but it feels "right" to me.
as for Zevran, he did not betray my character, if he had I would have stabbed him in the back same as I did ANders. He was honest about the possibilty of crows coming after us etc, once he formed a friendship and even before imo he had Integrity. [ o ya and he was "loose" too, so that is not the issue] he did not allow people to die for his own personal gratification, even taliesen and those assasins died becuz they tried to kill the party... so its WAY different to me in comparison to Isabela.
I missed some folks comments first post thru .. I am not sure what u mean by am I serious? yes i am serious I do not view her as an honorable companion, if you do, yay for you.
and as for Fenris sleepign with her? meh its not my concern. My hawke flings with her, but HAwke does not accept her as a life soul mate or w/e you call it.

Zev's had a lot more work put into them.  Where Morrigan and Leliana actually shared love scenes (yes, they really did), Zevran had five separate scenes -- only m/f elves shared a scene.  His scenes, actually, though underweartastic, had fantastic facial expressions as well, and that makes a big difference.

I'm still not sure why people insist on comparing Anders to Twilight. You are aware that that particular trope was around long before Twilight, and the use of that trope had nothing to do with why Twilight was actually bad, right?

Yeah, that's why after the first disastrous AmellxAlistair romance I have always done Zevran (pun fully intended) :)

National Novel Writing Month.  www.nanowrimo.org/

Essentially, you're supposed to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of November each year.

Your reason is pretty much why I picked up Twilight-- I'd heard about it and was dying of curiosity.  Stay away from the fourth book-- unless you don't mind reading it for pure comedy.  I found it utterly hilarious :D

Perhaps you were not bashing Isabela, but there seems to be a level of hypocrisy in this discussion when it comes to accepting Isabela as someone who does not value committment when Fenris seems to value someone who can be free with their affection.  And by "affections=sex," I'm sure he did not mean that the Fog Warriors sat around and talked about their feelings for one another.

I don't know that that is an admirable trait.

Not letting something from your past haunt you and define your life and actions?  Sounds pretty nice to me.
