I pitied him atrociously which is never the foundation for any long term feelings.. and the memory of his funny self in DAA was what kept me from dumping him wayside at the start. The VA was good, I just didnt like the way the character was written or his cheesy lines!

That's how I felt about Anders.  I set out to romance him with my F!Hawke but Fenris stole her heart and never looked back.  I just can't seem to motivate myselft to do Anders romance.  Once you go Fenris you never go back.

@omearaee...I was going to rivalmance Anders in my current play through, but once i picked up Fenris I just couldn't romance anyone else. I guess I like broody.

@ Omearee sooo true! and I had a glitch on next PT where BAit & switch quest had him already wearing the ribbon and crest... I was... helpless, no way I could ever try to romance someone else once i seen that!!!

Isn't he? I just did Questioning Beliefs on what is becoming my favorite rogue playthrough so far (possibly canon for me). I delved farther into the talk trees than I had before, and yeah... <3

I have a feeling I totally set myself up for failure, by watching one of the live plays of DA2 before it came out. I was in the same place of a few fangirls waiting to finally romance Anders, then I see this sneak peak of DA2 combat. Once I heard the voice and saw the chest punch...I was done. Never have I squeed so much then when I was finally playing that quest. My husband was looking at me like I had lost my mind. 
Honestly I don't know if I have it in me to romance Anders...

hehe Punk and Auresta, I was seriously going to do it.. I only made it as far as the invite to spend nite with Anders and he opened his whiny mouth about Fenris and that blew it... I was like whoa there, you are tough enought o romance wihtout trying to drag " the wild beast" down.. grr there is no going back , I've accepted this. lol

Hi guys! I have been semi-lurking for a bit and have seen some discussion of when and who you can flirt with without shutting down romances but I don't believe I've seen any discussion of this one. Can I romance and have sexytime with Fenris, then get the Anders kiss but send him away without sleeping with him and continue on with Fenris?

Yes. 

Just be sure to pick the heartbreak option on the left side when he first comes into Hawke's mansion (well just make sure you don't sleep with him. That'll break the romance.) The heartbreak option on the left side is what I usually pick. (When he brings up Fenris) The heartbreak option will say "I love him."

Yes.  I've done it.  When he asks about Fenris, tell him you love him [Fenris].  You get some pissy dialog from Anders.

Edit: I really need to finish reading the thread before commenting...  'ed completely.  By an hour!

*laugh* This reminds me of one time I set to play through Morrigan's romance.  She always intrigued me, so after a good while and several playthroughs under my belt I roll a male human noble.... who promptly falls for Zev all over again and I'm left sitting there going 'next time, I swear!'.

I had similar PT once like that, have a male Warden and determined to romance Leliana, then changed to Morrigan, and failed them all by ended up romancing Zev again XD

I remember from my first rented playthrough that teaching Fenris to read came up in conversation... I'm now all paranoid that my gravitation to the flirt option every time might make me miss it. Can anyone tell me where it is?

It should be in the dialogue when you give him the book of shatan.

Just popped in to say: I had planned to romance Anders with my Mage on this second playthrough, but you know once you see Fenris and you talk to him it's all downhill from there. I have just finished my first playthrough with his romance last night and it was tearful and squee at the end-game when you get his romance dialogue. I just can't imagine not romancing him lol I think I will sleep with Anders and then dump him for Fenris. Cold hearted I know, but hey I don't believe in settling

BTW it took me so long to finish my first game because I've been spending all my time at MEG on FB. It's awesomesauce.
