Just popped in to say: I had planned to romance Anders with my Mage on this second playthrough, but you know once you see Fenris and you talk to him it's all downhill from there. I have just finished my first playthrough with his romance last night and it was tearful and squee at the end-game when you get his romance dialogue. I just can't imagine not romancing him lol I think I will sleep with Anders and then dump him for Fenris. Cold hearted I know, but hey I don't believe in settling ;)

BTW it took me so long to finish my first game because I've been spending all my time at MEG on FB. It's awesomesauce.

Welcome back, SilverSentinel. Always good to see you.

Yeah, it's very hard to resist Fenris. The only way to do that, I guess, is not picking him up at all.

EDIT for TOP:

Shamelessly repost my old doodle:

Whenever I get a Bioware game, I make a point of not going to the forums until after I finish the game, so that I don't ruin the surprises. My husband does the opposite, and he always regrets it. Then he does it for the next game. Men. Meh.

I loved the Ostagar battle scene in the first game (with the war leader calling for the archers and the dogs), so I created a war-veteran (archer) of "diplomatic personality" with premature white hair to be my Hawke on the FIRST playthrough.

Male-Hawke, of course, fell hard for Fenris (something about white hair and green eyes... sigh), and I looked forward to a special night together... That special night scene is completely devastating as a male-Hawke.

If you're a fem-Hawke, when Fenris breaks it off, ithe scene, body language, and dialogue comes across as, "it's not you, it's me... I don't want to commit, and I am being a typical male, so sorry." It's well, unpleasant, but understandable. (Ladies, we have all been there, am I right?)

As a male-Hawke, that same scene is horrifying. "It IS you, and I am FREAKING out over what we just did," is how it reads. I had the husband look over my shoulder when I reran the scene to get a genuine male's opinion, and he agreed with my interpretation. (Especially male-Hawke's response of, "It's a bit much to take in all at once.")

I abandoned that romance on that playthrough. I eventually romanced Fenris as a fem-Hawke (mage) on the second time around. Much, much better. I quite recommend it.

Actually, it depends on how you romance Fenris. The 'it's your own damn fault' undertone came out if you rival-romanced him. And strangely, I think that fit his character better.

It's nice to have your hubs playing the game as well. Mine is not a gamer, so usually I played the game and hop online to discuss them. A bit....sometimes.

The husband and I pretty much only play Bioware games at the same time, and have long conversations about the different tactics, scenes, etc.  God help us if anyone ever overheard us in mid-Kaidan rant (me) or I-love-Isabella-have-you-tried-her-yet? (him)

I guess that makes us "Bioware-curious."

I took that as Hawke making one of his Horribly Inappropriate Jokes™. Although it did make me laugh pretty hard.

Does non-snarky Hawke make that joke? The only m!Hawke I played was a snarker all the way, so I am not sure about that.

Its a sarcastic line. With female Hawke it's a little awkward. With male Hawke it makes me laugh because I'm in possession of a horrible, horrible mind.

Oh, her?

She took a little trip off a cliff into the Mind-Blank Sea.

I hear she didn't make it.

Prompt time.

Doctor Who

The Hanged Man

Fenris:
(lays down cards) I believe I win this hand.

Isabela: (chuckles) You're getting better at this.

Fenris: I've had an excellent teacher.

Isabela: If you keep that up I may have to give you some more lessons.

Fenris: I'd like that.

(The conversation is interupted as a man dressed as if he just stepped out of World War II Brittan sits down at the table.)

Jack: Mind if I join in? (sits down) Jack Harkness by the way. Captain Jack Harkness, although without a ship the title-

Isabela: Sounds a bit hollow? I know the feeling. I am Isabela by the way, that's Fenris.

Fenris: (gives a grunt of acknowledgment)

Jack: He's pretty cute, I like the tatoos, I once knew a guy with similar markings, great in bed.

Fenris: They were carved into my flesh against my will.

Jack: Nearly had that happen to me one time. Learned never to go drinking with Arcturan pirates, that's one hangover that you really don't want to wake up to.

Isabela: I've never heard of the Arcturans and I've been almost everywhere in Thedas. Where did you say you were from?

Jack: I'm from a lot of places sweetheart. I'd like to tell you about them but I - (A man with a shaved head and a leather jacket walks into the tavern)

The Doctor: I can't take you anywhere, can I Jack?

Jack:
I was just trying to get us a little information Doc.

The Doctor: Just like you 'tried to get a little information'  the last time we stopped.

Jack: Hey how was I to know she was related to a Sontaran warlord?

(the two of them walk out)

Fenris: Why can't we just have a normal day?

Isabela: Because normal is boring sweet thing.

@Friera, yes he does. If you don't romance Fenris or Issie there is this interesting convo pop up somewhere during ACT 3

  • Isabela: That night...I can't stop thinking about it.
  • Fenris: Well, then I'll see you later.
  • Isabela: That was direct.
  • Fenris: I thought I'd get straight to the point. Were you expecting flowers or something?
  • Isabela: Don't be absurd.
  • Fenris: Then I'll see you tonight.
EDIT: Right folks, I think it is worth mentioning this. Apparently a few weeks ago, Mr. Emery (aka Fenris' VA) was in Vancouver for some voice recording mission. Vancouver aye....

He also said hopefully he can confirm what it is in June....
