OO wow the screeenies are awesome and shirtless Fenris makes me feel like Sandal, drooling "enchantment" all day, Im thinking there is NO better dessert than this! count me as one of the shameless clickers to hear Fenris say "I am yours". LOL I did same thing to AListair and Zevran too teehee. Its fun to be silly.
Welcome Delurkers btw! Im happy I came out a bit ago, these peeps all fun to chat too! I like the peeps Head cannons that explain the 3 years as being very busy actively with Kirkwall events, Mums passing, and of course all the teaching of reading and interaction, altho It may be platonic I think the spark was always there, so Idk I figure my Hawke had to much crap on the fan to really want another realtionship, and there is always the bLooming rose for the quick satisfaction. I have never done this but I have heard it does not effect the romance? Sides see that shirtless Fen Pic by Jhourney?? OOO ya I'd wait in line for sum of that!

I could almost go with that if it was 6-12 months, but 3 years is a very long time and I really think nearly everyone would have given up or moved on (or at least have tried to!). I actually found the reading quest quite annoying, in that Fenris had only just rejected me and my three options were romance, sarcasm or aggresive. I had a sarcastic Hawke, but not even she would be sarcastic in that situation (or aggressive) - but after just being walked out on I woudln't have forgiven someone that quickly to suddenly be flirty even if 3 years later I've got over it 

My first playthrough I didn't even pick up Fenris, never did the Bait & Switch quest becuase I already had enough money for the expedition and my char was fed up of doing jobs for people (although ofc if I had realised that quest was to get a companion I would have done it  regardless ). I romanced Anders that time, but next time on what will probably be my 'canon' playthrough I will be a mage  - its going to be interesting to see how my char will view Anders differently.

Many do find the 3 year gap as unreasonable, I find it realy long, but I am content to Pt til he returns a nd he really didnt " dump" Hawke, he left her becuz he felt he was not " whole inside" to save her from what he thought would be more pain than leaving her brought.
Kinda a weird noble idea , from a dude that really has no grasp on romantic interactions or even most social ones. He didnt have a lot of practice at it , im guessing. Plus I figure they were together, touching interacting [ I dont think even Fenris could stay away from her, with w/e interaction they have ] mb more of a medivel [ spelling forgiveness] roamnce where they touched hands, looked longingly, were best buddies without sharing the candy.
I understand tho its all in perceptions and the RP of the Hawke character that we do, the entire time gap in the stry lien was bizarre and not really carried out well I think period. lol IDK more eloquent peeps say it better in older pages here on the thread.
My LadyHawke jsut felt as long as he was there for her, wearign her favors, being faithful and not cold shouldering her in other ways, she was willing to wait for the time to heal. Okay, this may seem really random (as is usual with me XD), but I was flipping through some of Maya Angelou's poetry, and this one in particular stood out as being appropriate for Fenris/Hawke:

"Touched by An Angel"

Agreed.  The way I'm looking at it for my current PT at least is that neither of them is in Kirkwall much; Fenris is off tracking down his sister, saving up the coin to bring her to Kirkwall, and trying not to get captured in Minrathos, whereas Hawke desperately needs a change of scenery, literally, after all the crap she's had to deal with in the past few years. By the time they actually DO get around to discussing things, both have had time to reflect on life without the other and decide that's just not what they're interested in.

I guess it's just a fault of mine that I couldn't imagine going three years without at least considering being with someone else Or that I couldn't have gone three years without bringing it up like I'm supposed to believe my Hawke did. I could have a one night stand, be friends with someone after, and never talk about it but not if I cared about them. A bit of time, sure, but three years takes it too far for me. I could go with the idea that Fenris wasn't in Kirkwall though! Fenris's romance is definitely hard work though

I've been lurking here, doing other things other places (including real life) but that picture...wow.  I am quite happy that I'm single now.  *grabby hands at naked Fenris*

As for the 3 years thing...I think it's mostly a fault of the story pacing and the pressure to release the game quickly.  Grumble grumble, stupid EA rushing things out of greed for sales.  Even working within the 3 year timespan, I think it's doable for various reasons.  They each could have traveled out of Kirkwall, certainly.  I picture them both having awkward moments, maybe some kisses here and there, but both of them hedging around the issue out of a want to rebuild a friendship. 

My characterization of Hawke is understanding that Fenris has issues.  The timespan allows for each of them -- possibly Hawke moreso -- to think about things from Fenris's perspective.  He has a lot of fear, anger, and confusion.  He also has the issue of Danarius yet to solve.  Once Danarius is gone, Fenris can change his whole way of thinking; he can realize and address the issues between him and Hawke.

I agree with Tanathir and will also add that my Hawkes go through so much after Fen and her split for a while that I don't think another relationship is even on her mind. Her sis/bro is gone, mom is gone, everyone seems to think she can help all their problems. I don't think of it as my Hawkes pining for Fen, I see it as they just have so much on their plate that starting another relationship is just not important.

In my personal life I've had two different men marry the next person they dated after me, instead of moping I decided to focus on myself and go back to school. another relationship is not important to me right now. and it's been a couple years since I've dated anyone.

Ya, I figure they prolly kissed a few times, altho the times spent together playing cards/reading etc can be as rewarding as physical. I think Ejoslins theory is great too!
I also think tanthir and Verly ring true., my Lady Hawke just had her cup full at that moment, and wasnt really looking for anything more. Ursala's coudl be canon too! they are all good possibilities, but when in doubt blame EA.. the time rush and game rush? who knows?

  O  I never  Read  Maya  ANgelou  before but that  entire poem is powerful, tbh , I think the  whole  passage  could be  applied to  Fenris . good  catch  Tank

Late response...but I actually asked my best friend about that the other day... there's 2 reasons. 1 is physiological- deep male voices trigger an endorphin release in the brain. The second is purely psychological. Deep male voices are f***ing sexy.

It's my personnal head-cannon that my Mage!Hawke had a rebound fling with Anders sometime during the three year gap after getting more involved in Mage Freedom! now that he doesn't have family to worry about ... it most likely ended awkwardly because Hawke just couldn't move on from Fenris when he's living just around the block and going with him to beat up slavers/bandits/etc and Anders getting fed up of being the replacement goldfish for Fenris of all people.
