Thanks, Phyreblade. At least...I hope that was near tears in a good way. :)

Oh, yes, very much.  I actually got into a discussion with a friend about Fenris the other day, because she just couldn't understand why I liked him so much better than Anders.  I told her, "There is something incredibly appealing about someone who wants to be accepted and loved that much, that he's willing to overcome every bad thing that's happened to him and really, truly move past it."  And your little fic captured that sense so well.  Thanks!

Edited to add some Fenris, with Hawke:

I pause my battles in some really spiffy spots.  My mages always end up shining, for instance.  What really makes me smile alot is how often Fenris ends up right smack dab in front of my Hawke.  Doesn't matter how bad-a** she is, he'll come flying in there to stand there, snarling, right in front of her.

In battles, I always find Fenris right next to or in front of Hawke. It's nice to have someone in the party who you know has your back. Sometimes he shows up, even when I had just the turn before set him on an opponent across the room.

cool still shoot.

He does it to my mage(s) all the time. They're all up and front, smacking things with their staves, shooting a couple of spells, and then all of the sudden, he's all "FWOOSH!" in front of Hawke, and I'm like, "Aww, how sweet. He's protecting his mageling. ^_^"

Could also be revenge for the rogue though. I ran her usually with just him in the party and it was practically a race about who could kill more things faster-- the rogue kicking ass on most occasion because she left the aggro to Fenris while she backstabbed everything.

Indeed!

*laments, not for the first time, that she plays XBox and can't do cool screenshots of her Hawke and Fenris. :) *

I miss you guys - started school this week and am too busy to do much more than lurk for now. :) I will keep an eye on the prompts for when I need a brain break though!

I know this is gonna sound really boring but I cross stitch as a hobby. (in between being a mom of 3 great kids, a housewife *and all it entails*, and a gamer) I got Gideons permission to use his pic and make it into a stitched piece. I was thinking about getting a pic of Fenris, charting it and stitching it right alongside Gideons pic. Anyone have any real wicked pics of darling Fen that may work? Oopps, first I gotta get permission from BW to use Fenris' image. lol

I'm sorry thst I don't have any greast pics. but I wanted to say that cross stitch is not boring and your project sounds wonderful.  I'm a full time mom and gamer too and needle work is great in that you can put it down and pick it up whenever you like.  I find needle work to be almost meditative.

I totally agree Cawti. When I'm totally stressed and need to relax, I pick up my stitching and it helps me totally unwind. I'm working on some wolves atm. Unfortunately, I have been called boring and old-fashioned for doing cross stitch but I consider those ppl as just not knowing better. I love how almost anything can be transformed into stitches and I love the unique pictures than can be created. oopps, am rambling now lol.

But I like how Seb challenges Fenris' bitterness more than anything.  It's not overtly aggressive or confrontational, just a calm sort of questioning challenge that leaves Fenris THINKING.  And I love that.

Also good prompts this time! I got some ideas brewing, damn you Work! Will have to get back to you guys.

Second of all.. had a theory I'm working on and decide to throw it out to you guys. I was thinking about the ritual that actually happened to Fenris. Also, the ever present question of his memories. Here is my theory on the whole mess.
...
The lyrium becomes the channeling port and the emotion is the trigger. .. when Fenris is faced with great emotional feeling the connection between the lyrium and his powers might waiver. Therefore whatever memories still exist in his brain are able to be recalled because they are attached, like his powers, and him, to the fade.

Hi all...I wanted to de-lurk for the first time to comment on Arquen's theory here. I like this theory that it's the emotions that trigger his memories resurfacing, as it would nicely explain something that's been bothering me.

I keep thinking about what would be different between Fenris' night spent with Hawke in Act 2 and his experience with Isabela later on in Act 3. During my second playthrough I thought I'd try the Anders romance, but I still couldn't resist getting involved with Fenris first. I figured I'd mend my poor broken heart with Anders under the assumption that I was supposed to have no idea Fenris still loved me (had to use the "sandwich" defense with Anders instead of telling him he was the love of my life - but it worked!). It then came as a nasty shock when, three years later, here Fenris was sleeping with Isabela NO PROBLEM. WTF? I kept thinking of catty things that I'd say to him, like, "He can make it work with her, but not with me?!?"

Of course, you can make the surface arguments, like with Isabela it's just sex...but really, why would the memories resurface in one instance and not another. I found myself comparing the situation to when Angel turned into Angelus on Buffy, that his dark side came around when he was, um, perfectly "happy" for the first time during their first night together. If that were the case with Fenris, he'd have memories creeping up with Isabela, too -- probably multiple times a night! Anyway, I figure it's got to have something to do with something much more fundamental that he feels for Hawke and not, presumably, Isabela, but I am curious about the, er, mechanics.

Anyway, my two cents. :D Recommence lurking!

I've been lurking here for weeks on my iPhone and finally got around to registering and all that. :) Which got started because I've been obsessing over the game and would off and on Google questions about the characters and I kept getting linked here... So, hello! Hopefully I'll be able to contribute with some minor fanfiction. Though, the one I'm writing right now is Anders-centric. (Or, what I WANT to write, because my poor Correm Hawke is still upset about having to kill his mageboy and he's all lonely as a viscount and everything and he won't let me write anything else. <_<)

For sure I can have some fanart for you all at some point... I have a picture that's almost done but I won't have access to a scanner until Sunday. D: It is a horribly long time to wait. I'm having to force myself to not just take a photo with my phone to share. :?

I have a couple things to discuss! :D

@Arquen: You said you had rivaled everyone, and don't recommend it. Is this because it's difficult to do, or because it's traumatic to have everyone hate your guts? I have just barely started a PT where I'm going to play a mage-hating blood mage just for knuckles and munchers. I'm curious to see how it goes, picking the I'm-a-bastard-option every time.

And a question to everyone... I watched the YouTube video of the horrible moment when Fenris was handed over to the bad mans, but it said he was at 100% friendmance. Does anyone know if the dialogue is different with non-romanced rivalry when you choose to commit this heinous crime? Is there a video out there of this? Because I haven't found it.

Yeah I've wondered about that too. I guess I'll go with the 'happiness' angle. With Hawke it wasn't just sex he's in love with him/her. It's wasn't the uh mechanics so much as the emotions involved.

I'm going for Anders this time around and I'm not looking forward to the Isabel/Fenris banter. I'm all for interparty relationships but Fenris is mine.

Agree. I also found it hard. After switching to Anders, Fenris went back to calling me just "Hawke" whereas when I was his 100% friend only (on my m!Hawke+Isabela PT) he was calling me "My Friend". *sniff*

That dialogue can get rough to listen to if your current PT is against your personal canon. I had to start Act II over with my mage Aniselle Hawke because I totally failed the rivalmance and I couldn't stand it.

Fenris: Hawke. =_=
Hawke: You are handsome and strong and even though you hate mages I still love you!
Fenris: We should move on. ¬_¬*

Now I'm back to "I enjoy following you <3", so I feel better.

Quickie reply cuz im at work. On my rival playthrough it was aweful because everyone treats you like pure grade a crap. Varric was a total ass to me and Anders straight up wanted to kill me. I rivalmanced Fenris and even slept with and dumped Anders and isabela. The rivalmance was the only thing that got me through that playthrough honestly. Its so lonely because nobody is your friend and only support u out of fear or respect of your power. That line on the rivalmance kills me "were not exactly firends Fenris..." im all* sadface*
