Mismatched couples are like shiny objects-- eye-catching, something you want to look at, distracting, and usually totally worth it. Unless they're the crappy/fake shiny things. Then they leave those stupid green marks on you and you roll your eyes at them and go, "Damn you! Stupid cheap shiny object! You're mean, and terrible, and you suck!"

(Also loves Fenris/Mage!Hawkette)

MRC <--- Grammar: FAILURE

I used the wrong "there/their/they're".

Well, whether you are or not, you're not alone in this. Posted Image
Other than there just being something lovely about the oddity and mismatching(and irony, I think) of a mage!Hawke with Fenris... it also adds something(amusement in some cases) to some of Fenris' lines. Like after Hadriana dies...

Fenris: What has magic touched that it doesn't spoil?!
Mage!Hawke: ... *eyebrow-quirk*

I also think that living with a Mage!Hawke for a long time is possibly the only thing that can cause Fenris to moderate his views on Mages.

The first time a Templar shows up at the door wanting to take his Hawke away from him... that's when he'll see the reality of it all.

What? Something like:

Templar: (Knocks on door) Excuse me, but we've received reports of an apostate on the premises.

Fenris: I don't know what you're talking about-- there's no apostates here. No one else at all, actually.

Hawke: (From somewhere else in the house) Who's at the door? (Walks over to door carrying staff clearly in view) What do you need, Ser Templar?

Templar: APOSTATE! (Pulls sword to attack)

Fenris: (Eye-twitch. Phase-punch.)

Templar: X_X (Falls over)

Hawke: O_o... Again?

Fenris: (Shuts door and turns around, muttering under his breath about stupid Templars trying to take Hawke away)

Someone else could so do that better.

And Kirkwall Templars were complete retards, so let's assume that I was saying Hawke and Fenris were elsewhere.

I'm a sucker for mages/sorcerers/wizards/magic omgwtfbbqpwnface characters anyways. It's my favorite class to play in anything.

I always see Fenris and Mage together as something that is just unique. However, I think my rogue Hawke could do a pretty darn good job of convincing Fenris that not all mages are horrible magister power hungry fiends. I don't think it is something exclusive to mages, but having to directly be confronted with the problem like a Templar showing up to take Hawke to the circle.. I think it would force Fenris' hand. He would always choose to protect something he loves and especially would choose to follow Hawke than allow for anything to happen to her. I think this could work for a non-mage too. Fenris would not want to see Hawke suffer, and so I don't think he would ever directly turn against someone she/he loves even if they were a mage. Hence, he never told the Templars about Bethany or even Anders or Merrill for that matter. He cares to much about Hawke to let his personal vendetta's against magic ruin that relationship.

I am in the camp that Fenris doesn't truly hate all mages. Magic sure, and a mage's potential, definitely, but I don't think he hates people just for being mages.

Edit - added stay alive - thanks for the song ^_^

Very true. If they had been in Kirkwall it might've gone more like...

Just gotta chime in with a dissenting opinion, because it seems I feel the opposite way of most folks here about the Fenris and Anders romances. I love Fenris with my male Hawkes and prefer my female Hawkes with Anders.

I guess that's why it's so nice that we're given the choice.

Agreed autumnyte. To each their own in that respect. As for the templar thing, I don't think I can do better, lol.

Kirkwall Templars were rather dee-dee-dee when it came to Hawke, but they always knew Hawke got a free pass though. Even Meredith says "I'll overlook your use of magic..." so it's like your immune to Templars.

Still, I don't think Fenris would hesitate to protect Hawke from being taken away by the Templars. Yet all I can think about is when you do the quest with the starkhaven mages and Decimus and he is all "Yes! Lets murder a Templar!..." Oh how far he comes by the end of Act 3 especially if you side with mages, LOL.

so there's a fenris voice pack that someone compiled, thought i should share:

http://ssjandromeda....ation-211862353

there are many lines that i've never heard! can anyone tell me there specific context?

"i'd like to speak with you but not here my mansion is more appropriate" -0014
"we dont know that yet, let's see if varania is here" -0044
:"and yet she didn't manage to influence you" -0046
"yes, far better to take advantage because she is too stupid to know better" -0050
"im perfectly content at the moment" - 0060 (orly?)
"i wonder how long i will be allowed to remain here"
"i don;t know why you sent orana to me" <--- are this and the varania one things that were cut from the game???
“Ah. A shame you’re going to die, no?” - 0671
“Good. Privacy at last.” -0688.

there are plenty more, and im not even done listening yet ^^; i'm tempted to tote around only fenris for a playthrough so his interjections won't be overridden.

0014 = Anders has a similar line when he has a quest for you, but seeing as all Fenris' quests are triggered differently than Anders', the line wasn't needed.
0060 = That's a line from a Fenris and Varric banter, when Varric asks about brooding being a sport in Tevinter. (Unless it's said differently...) Link:
The others = All seem to be cut out from the game, implying that both "A Bitter Pill" and "Alone" both had more content originally. Giving Fenris Orana is a particularly interesting option.

On the side note, Mr. Emery bought a copy of DAII (why does he had to buy it?) and is now looking for a time to play it. Guess who is he planning to romance?

Mr Emery bought a copy? How awkward,to romance someone you voiced.

Is it just me or in the ending art, with fenris(only if you romance him) Is it just me or does he seem more muscular?

I always wondered if there was more to Orana. She just stands by the fire and only has what 3-4 lines? Having Fenris semi-adopt her would have been fab.

THIS is why we need a toolset. I can't imagine playing Origins without the various dialogue restoration mods and extra dialogue triggers but there's so much lacking in DA2 gameplay mods seem essential.

EDA: 0016 "And you were fast enough to replace me." Where/when is this dialogue?

Its banter beetween anders and fenris. Only if you romance fenris, and he leaves you, then you romance anders.

Anyway, why doesn't Fenris wear shoes exactly? I understand Merril not wearing shoes b/c she's Dalish and they're all very close to the earth and what not, but why wouldn't Fenris wear shoes? He comes form a city and most cities in that time didn't have indoor plumbing so they just threw in out a window, into the street. So it seems like he'd wear shoes, if he had a choice in the matter. I don't know, it just seems weird. In fact one of the only reasons I modded his armor was so he'd have shoes. XD

This may be way off base, but in Norse mythology the elves are shoeless as a fertility symbol.  Even if this was unintentional it worke for me.

Why Fenris doesn't wear shoes:

The Hanged Man

Varric: Nice boots. Where did you get them?

Fenris: Hightown.

Varric: Dipping into the profits from the Expedition then? Good for you.

(The sound of fighing is heard downstairs)

Fenris: Sounds like another bar brawl down there.

Varric: (sighs) We'd better get down there before things get out of hand.

Fenris: Agreed. (unsheaths sword and starts to glow)

Varric: Hey, don't those markings make you go through....(Fenris phases through his new boots and runs down the stairs)...things. Oh well, he can always grab his boots later.

Been enjoying the voice pack - most I have heard some I think were just cut from the game. Would be interesting to see where they would pop up though.

About the shoes - Norse fertility symbol. Hmmmm.. naughty thoughts. Also, does that mean Zevran isn't as fertile as Merrill and Fenris. Oh, the implications >.<. Also, weird thought just popped into my head - Lyrium being branded into your skin. Wouldn't it have some degenerative effects on your system. You know.. make Fenris ermm.. *ahem* forget I said anything.

And Dr. I thought of this as well, but then the implications of Fenris phasing out of clothing sent my mind adrift for a while.

Hawke: Okay, Fenris I have to ask this... why is your armor so, you know, form fitting?

Fenris: I don't really have a choice, this is the best solution.

Hawke: Solution? What's wrong with normal plate armor.

Fenris: The markings, well they give me unique talents and so the armor has to be just right or.

Hawke: Or what, you phase out of clothing?

Fenris: Basically... Look this armor just works okay, leave it alone okay Hawke... Hawke? What's with that look?

Hawke: (already daydreaming) hmmm, phasing out of clothing...

Fenris: Not this again...

You know, I appreciate Fenris more and more as time goes on. My first playthrough was an Anders friendmance, and I got my heart squashed. At first, I liked it- I thought "what a great story". But the more I thought about it, the more I couldn't get over his dishonesty.

That's what I love about Fenris. Yes, he can be obnoxious, and there are times that I want to choke him, But he is HONEST, and I can trust him to have my back. At the end of both the Fenris friendmance and rivalmance, I felt that nothing short of death would take Fenris from Hawke's side.

It also helps that he is easy on the eyes.

I always hope that Hawke and Feris have children.  I squirm at the hardships faced by half-elves though.   I find it it interesting that he flirts with Isabela as it seems  implied during the Ravaini talisman quest that she is infertile.

I always hoped my Hawke and Fenris would have kids too, but I always wondered how Fenris would be as a father if their kids turned out to be mages. It's really likely b/c my Hawke's a mage, Bethany's a mage and Varania is a mage. I think he'd be a very strict and over-protective father if their kids were mages. Especially if they had a mage daughter. Oh god I feel sorry for that kid. XD
