Exactly my thoughts on the subject. i think people got too hung up on the concept art where he looked more attractive than ingame and are still seeing him that way (we still haven't seen a decent closeup of him imo and what we've seen I really couldn't describe as attractive more a face with character).
He looks like the "fun uncle" type of character to me and not really a "charming LI rogue".
And even if he was more attractive he's still a dwarf. As Lucy said that race would be pretty risky one to choose for a LI.

When I dared to suggest Varric wouldn't be physically appealing as an LI to a mainstream audience weeks ago, I was swamped with attacks. (I wasn't even in the Varric thread either.) Best to just see how it plays out when the game ships. I still think he won't be a love interest, and it will be Fenris and a human as someone suggested earlier.

I for one am glad to find someone who thinks the same way. I understand people liking Varric and wanting him for a LI but come on... seriously thinking he is definitely a 100% LI is just not realistic.

I think you are assuming too much, here. I, and others in here, are perfectly reasonable. I find myself insulted at being likened to a fangirl attack. Fenris is hot and I am liking the approach to him so far, I am not going to get all hypersensitive over anything unless you are being stupid, which you are not.

You are the one being silly, here, Calla. No one is going to attack you and no one has already done so. Alright?

I don't want to ignore it. There has been a misunderstanding between people and I want to fix it, because I like her, and she's a nice lady.

I wasn't offended and I'm not being unreasonable. I don't know where any of you get off on assuming things about me. I didn't want to start a huge conversation that would no doubt continue on and on in circles for who knows how long. I like Varric. I want Varric to be an LI. You guys like Fenris. You guys want Fenris to be an LI. Both have their reasons why they would be an LI. Both have reasons why they would not be an LI. That's where I am confused. There is not enough info on EITHER for a fandom, imho. We are all reasonable adults here. Don't assume we'd have a goddamned fandom war! We won't!

I think Fenris has a lot of potential dynamics that can be explored as simply a companion or even as a LI because of his slave past and present lyrium line predicament. I'll be honest, I like the way he looks. I also like the way Isabela looks and acts, along with Varric. I already know I'll romance Isabela, and I'm not hopeful about Varric, so I'll pining for Fenris as the elfmance. Broody characters in a fantasy setting? I so dig it. I won't be horribly disappointed if Fenris is not however.

(I'm assuming he'll have an intriguing personality since I appreciated or adored all of the party members in DAO)

To be fair, this is the interwebz and conveying a joke to an anonymous audience is not an easy task. I haven't followed your posts for long enough to get a sense of when you're joking or not.  So in any event, I take people seriously unless it's blatant, like so.

Then I hope there are mods. Unless whoever the male human is that will be revealed is to my taste as a LI, then I'll have to pin my hopes on Fenris. I prefer the more 'dark' romances, usually. The ones with obstacles to overcome, or things hanging overhead. Thane was probably the closest to my taste that has been done in a Bioware game in recent years.

If Fenris is not a LI, and we end up with Varric and a human, I will have to hope the human male ends up on the more 'serious' end of the spectrum, else I'm going to be having a slew of single PCs.

There is nothing wrong with saying 'I personally don't want Fenris to be an LI', provided you don't do it in a snarky, ready-to-fight kind of way. Its indecent and rude to a lot of people who are genuinely enthusiastic about the possibility. It isn't cool.



This thread is all about differing opinions and such. People don't bite, and when they do, they shouldn't or they are biting because someone bit first.

There is nothing wrong with coming out and saying you don't want Fenris to be an LI for X + Y = Z reasons, and that you support Varric. However, saying something kinda uncool like 'LMFAO nevermind. not even gonna try' is just asking to get personal and into a fight.

You are entitled to your opinion, as is everyone else. Expect people to disagree, just like you disagree. No one is attacking you in a fandom war. Your later posts appeared insulting, and if that wasn't your intention, then you should correct that aire. Its how it appeared.
