I don't really view Varric as ugly, if anything he's a sexy dwarf. People just hate that he's not the standard Bioware model mold of a LI.

Which is weird to be, considering how popular Garrus is.

Not that weird. You can still judge Varric by "human" standards. Garrus is so very not human that whether he's good looking is irrelevant. At least that's how I see the issue.

To maselphie: I think I get what you were trying to say. In essence, you don't want to have the feeling that he might be accidentally yelling someone else's name after the campfire goes out! ;)

As someone who has watched her own father never recover from losing his wife, I think I might be personally be unattracted to this trope more than normal. Maybe, I dunno. I do still think, in general, a lack of closure with previous lovers leads to the feeling of the guy loving two people at once. Being dead means lack of closure, unfortunately ...

I'm purposely avoiding fangirlling over Fenris at the moment because I was burned by Thane. =P But I'm basically lying to myself when I say I'm not excited as hell. I'd probably get over him not being an LI, because he is just plain cool, but it makes me wonder who WOULD be a LI, if not smexy elf man. I almost don't want there to be another option, because my brain can't fathom someone cooler. And if allowed only one male LI, it would have to be a human ... logically, right? A "vanilla" option. Like Jacob was supposed to be in ME2. His romance felt tacked on, like it felt that it HAD to be there, because the other two options were aliens. So I have a feeling there will be a human LI, but I just hope he's not the only one (and if there isn't a human LI, I applaud you Bioware) and isn't just a boytoy/piece of meat write-in to appease the girls. Meaning, I would rather Gaider wrote him too :D

In response to a few questions I've seen in the past few pages:

* Fenris has an accent. It's a bit unusual, but I'm not going to say what it is or you're likely to pinpoint his VA in about 30 seconds. And we can't have that.

* I wouldn't make too big a deal of his touch-causes-pain thing. It's more of an aversion than actual physical agony. You'll see when you play, though honestly he doesn't dwell on it at all. It's not central to his story.

* Regardless of what his story involves, I'm sure you'll find Fenris fun. Just like Varric. Let's all just get along and not stake out imaginary territory, shall we? That would be swell.

Fenris not being a love interest would be refreshing, but unlikely. It would be nice to have a character designed to be pretty just for the sake of it.

Time for a man to be the unattainable eye-candy, just because. What if he really is Samara?

Samara!

I wanted to romance her but understood perfectly why that wasn't possible. Having a relationship didn't fit the character at all.

I'm heterosexual and I almost went for Garrus. Thats how cool he is.

People tell me Thane and Garrus were meant to be attractive and I just scratch my head. And then people insist that Aveline and Isabela aren't yummy looking.

It's almost like we have different tastes and opinions.

I'm pretty sure some people on this forum could identify a VA from just this.

Okay guys. It's a VA with an unusual accent. I assume it will take 90 seconds before someone figures out who it is.

I love you, Maria. Will you be my same sex romance option?

Pseudo's right, of course. Varric gets a lot of crap because he can be compared to a human, whereas Garrus is something completely different. Most people don't consider Varric exotic or alience. Just short. Plus, there's that pesky ale-guzzling Gimli cliche lingering about. Can't WAIT for the Hobbit to come out so all of that can just gtfo.

Hawke: Come on Fenris, cheer up it could be worse.

Fenris: What, if I start skipping around the countryside with rainbows and woodland creatures following me will you leave me alone for a minute?

Isabela:
I knew a cheerful elf once, he assassinated my husband and about a dozen other people.

Fenris: Well maybe someone bothered him incessantly too. Now can we please just get back to walking?

This is honestly what I wonder, too. I haven't been keeping up *that* well with DA2 info, mostly because I hate working myself into a hype-fervor when launch is still months off, but so far have there even been any other males unveiled than Fenris and Varric? Someone was telling me there were floating rumors of Nathaniel or Anders, but I've not really looked into that. Either of them would be okay, though I'd prefer Nate to Anders in that case.

I just can't go for Dwarves, though, romantically. They're cool. They make awesome 'bros' for my characters, in most cases, but if he is one of only one or two LI options for female Hawkes (that aren't bi/lesbian, as I never go that route), I am going to be a very sad panda.

My inner sadist has narrowed its eyes in the direction of Edmonton. The rest of me, however, is contemplating the possibilities this opens up.

Fenris: I do not look like him.

Hawke: Well, you have lighter hair with darker skin.

Fenris: My skin is not dark.

Isabela: And you're an elf! All you elves look alike to me.

Fenris: That's ridiculous.

Isabela: Where it counts, anyhow.

FenrisDo I want to even ask what that means?

Varric: I wouldn't.

Hawke: Of course you would.

Varric: It's true. I'm a weak, weak man.

I still can imagine some flirting/ teasing flirting dialogue happenin' .

Hawke: Meet you at my place later. Ga-row.
Fenris: What are you talking about?
Hawke: It looked like you were giving me the saucy eyebrow just then! The one that totally means you want to do the mattress dance!
Fenris: I was in pain.

This.

Hawke: "...*wink*"
Fenris: "Wh-... What?"
Hawke: ".. I winked back at you. didn't you wink?"
Fenris: ".. That was a flinch."
Hawke: "..."
Fenris: "..."
Hawke: "... This is awkward. I'll stand over there."
Fenris: "Yes. You do that."

LOL good one! but that's what I mean, if he isn't a love interest I can still see teasing/ flirting remarks from Hawk. Posted Image

I'm going with Sean Connery too, they probably hooked him up after they watched Zardoz.

It's probably the influence for Isabela's boots too.

-Steve Blum has an absurd range of voices and would be easily recognisable.
-Jon Curry who voiced Zevran has a pretty recognisable voice
-Brandon Keener who voiced Garrus sounds a bit different when his voice isn't run through a turian filter

Those are my guesses

What kind of sense of humor does he have? Or, is he more of the straight man for the others?

Thank you Mr. Gaider Posted Image

Accents are good, imo.
I am glad that it doesnt cause him too much pain.
