Toast? Lmao.. you know I always hated how we couldn't comment on fenris sneaking out move. He got fully dressed and obviously was just going to sneak out but decided to stick around and try to explain. I always wanted to say more than "was it that bad?"

I wanted to say "what, leaving so soon? Sneaking off? No room for round 2?" Or something more coy than just what was given. I do love how he rotates his shoulder on "it was fine." That cracks me up... d'oh ho a bit sore are we, muahaha.

The food thing is funny, but I like it for Anders. Fenris would probably be like "what, no, I need to tell you this..!" And commence explaining about the memories. In my head fenris stands by that fireplace for hours trying to recall those memories but like smoke they just vanish. He's so upset by the time hawke wakes up he knows what he has to do.

Hawke: Care for some pie?

I substituted pie for chocolate. I hate pie, but chocolate.. especially a smooth german chocolate. That is something like magic. Lmao, good stuff doc.

I must be weird but when fenris leaves I feel more sorry for him than hawke. I truly believe leaving was the hardest thing he ever did. I feel like hawke would honestly be angry and hurt for a while but fenris would brood on that moment and replay it in his head a bajillion times. I just feel like even though he left he still got the worst of it. Im crazy I think... or I just empathize to much with fenris that I can seriously imagine exactly what it is like for him after leaving.

I do not like any pie, or cakes. I can't do icecream anymore either. So, sorry . In other quirks I hate fish too. It was funny because when I saw that fish warehouse in da2 I said "uck, fish.." then fenris did his line and I laughed. "My thoughts exactly!"

You're not alone in this. I feel sorry for both of them, but there's so much self-loathing and self-punishment on Fenris's end that it makes me especially sympathetic on his behalf. 

The reconciliation conversation he has with Hawke makes it apparent that he's been torturing himself about it for three years. Yesterday, I was playing through the Act 3 scene after "Alone" and I accidentally hit the "it's too late" option instead of the "I forgive you option". The look on Fenris's face when he said "I had to try" was the saddest thing ever. I could not reload fast enough.

I wish I had the necessary software to YouTube it for you. Here's the exact dialogue I got. (This is a rivalmance with a sarcastic Hawke.)

Fenris: I should have asked your forgiveness long ago, I hope you can forgive me now.
Hawke: Whatever happened, it was a long time ago.
Fenris: I had to ask. Then I hope we can remain friends. That is something I have always valued.
(Which I think was a dialogue bug for me, because they're rivals. That was followed by a second bit of dialogue which I suspect is the appropriate rival response.)
Fenris: If I have been difficult, I'm sorry. Clearly I owe you more than I believed. 

The puppy eyes when he says "I had to ask" are epic. He closes them in anguish. Gah, Fenris's facial animations are so amazing at times.

It's probably best that I don't see it as you are right Fenris and the way he looks at times, sad/angry/laughing is really well done.

Oh, you just articulated a basic feeling I've had for a long whiles reading through some of the threads on the forums, here.  It's easy to wonder how bad Hawke would feel in that moment, I suppose, and most people do at great length.  But I'm with you; I think Hawke would be hurt and angry but come to terms with it far better than Fenris would.  I think it would eat at him, pretty much forever.  I can envision the two of them, years later, retired and with greying hair, sitting peacefully in front of a fireplace somewhere, while Fenris apologizes AGAIN and Hawke moans, "Geez, Fenris, how many times do I have to tell you it's okay?"

I just think that, to Fenris, that decision to walk out the door would be right up there with his own most bitter personal recriminations.  You know, like those moments you look back on over the course of many years, thinking, "Why the heck was I that stupid?"

Oh, and German chocolate is heavenly.  Pie is okay, I can have pie, depending on the fruit filling (no meat, meat pies are horrid).  But I'd give up pie for German chocolate in an easy minute.

Trying to catch up with the thread. I have been bad and cheating on Fenris with Iorveth (I do have a thing for naughty elves I guess).

My main Hawke is a bit short-tempered and furious when Fenris walks out on her, especially because it makes it difficult to keep him as an active companion in the party.

The only way that she can justify the three years gap is by leaving Kirkwall after becoming Champion and returning just before the events of Act III (my mage actually goes back to Ferelden to work with Avernus to see if she can help Carver who is now a warden).

Although, she always ends up with Fenris. Every. Single. Playthrough.
