 I hope I'm not interrupting anything, so I'm just going to jump in.

First off-- D-D, I didn't miss your birthday but I have to wish you an extremely belated one, primarily because one of my good friends had her birthday a day after, and we had evil plans for her.

So... I intended Sim!Fenris to be with the cake but... he and the rest of the Legacy kids had to go to college, so he didn't get a B-day cake for aging up (I did a bad, bad thing and put the three Legacy kids and the three Hawke kids in the same damn household for college and-- well, I'll get into it later). So all I do have to offer up is Ezio with a cake-- he wasn't sure how many candles to put on it, so he lit them all. (I got a laugh out of the fact that Ezio started balding after his "old man dance")

Tonight was going to be a update night with Sim!Fenris and Sim!Marian, but seeing as Big Brother (I watch stupid shows-- so what?) is on and I like to watch it (even though Rachel makes me want to shoot myself), I'll have to delay until tomorrow morning. Which I don't have that much-- even though I spent today powering the Legacy kids and the Hawkes through Uni and should have a gazillion screens, I don't because it was *six* crazy kids, who all had different majors (only Fenris and Fire had the same one) and all had to go to class at different times, and all, for some reason, wouldn't go automatically, so I had to remember exactly when everyone had to go to class and then send them, or their grade would start tanking (I got them out alright though, with everyone getting 4.0 GPAs-- they did little but eat, sleep, shower, study, dance, and go to class).

 Because I had to wait until I got home from work to really comment on this seriously. Of course now I am extreme tired so i might not make terrible much sense.. meh.

where he reveals his thoughts about the Dalish and city elves, how he thinks they are as they are because they lack the will to fight. 

Here's the relevant passage: 

There was nothing in the alley save for a few lone rats and an elven vagrant asleep against a garbage heap. Fenris paused and stared at the man in disgust. He’d thought to blend in more once he’d escaped the Imperium. In a land where elves were free, certainly one more elf would go unnoticed? He’d been a fool, of course. How was he to know that so many of his people would squander their freedom living like frightened cattle? If his only choices were to either dress as meekly as the local humans expected their elves to be, run off to find the wandering clans that grubbed in the dirt for whatever scraps the human kingdoms threw them, or to fight… then his choice was clear.

I hadn't read the short story in a long time, and I had nearly forgotten this paragraph until you brought it up CGG. Yet when I read it I still saw it as more Fenris' lack of compassion and apathy then a general judgement passed on society and elves in general. I honestly think he believes these things about the elves and dalish because they remind him so much of the life that he left. I like how he talks about how he thought about blending in with the elves at first, but then once he saw how they lived he realized HE couldn't live that way anymore for any reason. This disgust and observation (to me) is on a personal level. He is basically stating that HIS choice is to fight. I don't think he is suggesting that the elves rise up or that the dalish fight. I think he is more referencing a personal decision and a personal disgust at how the elves live. He does not like the Dalish, and who knows how long that has been going on but it definitely has something to do with the fact that Fenris feels like the Dalish are forcing the "old ways" on people and that they consider themselves elitist and above others because of how they live and what they believe. That is, of course, another point.

The main thing here is that where you see him making a general statement about how the Dalish and the Elves don't have the will to fight, I see him making an observation about how HE doesn't want to live like they do. He refuses to, and that is part of Fenris' pride and personality, but I don't think it really goes deeper than his personal view of himself. He states that "his" choice was clear. It isn't some grand scheme like "they should fight back because that is the only choice!" It is simply that Fenris sees how they live, and it disgusts him. I think deep down it reminds him of his life he left and he wants FREEDOM not more of the same. He refuses to live like they do because he believes freedom should be something more. I like also how he says "how was he supposed to know" the free elves lived like that. He takes a look around, and he expected more, and he even says that was "foolish" of him, but he will not allow himself to live like they do. Honestly, I think he could care less about them and their plights, but their apparent squandered freedom disgusts him, and he refuses to take part in it. It isn't the elvish plight he is considering here. It is his own views and his own ideals he is confronting. Moreso, he is making a personal choice and a personal vow to fight rather than "dress as meekly as the local humans expected their elves to be." I see no grand observations about elven kind or the dalish here, just Fenris' personal struggle about leaving his past behind. Again, I don't think Fenris is capable of that kind of compassion or pity and is more apathetic than anything.

=== MRC'S TS2 LEGACY UPDATE === 

Finally! I've been lacking to do one of these.

OK, let me get this straight, I LOVE college in TS2-- favorite aspect of the game. Works great when you only control 1-2 sims, because you get their skills up, study their brains out, go to class, let them get their needs up, and you usually have time afterwards to go and do fun things before the final exam comes up.

Six sims? Not so much. Especially when the stupid Evil Cow Mascot keeps showing up and harassing the Legacy kids and the Hawke kids when they're all being good and actually studying out in the main house while I have them alternating between the two computers on the lot to do their term paper (I eventually got pissed off and put one in Fenris's room and another in Marian's room, had them in their rooms plus one of their siblings, and then the other two would be out in the hall and locked the goddam door every time the mascot showed up on lot). Ooh, yeah, and they ALL refused to go to class on their own, and having only two sims with the same class time (Fenris and Fire-- they both had the literature major. I wonder what the hell came over me to me when I was sticking Fenris in the literature major...), I could only remember when they had to go to class. Bethany on a couple of occasions because her class, at one point, she had to go to an hour after Fenris and Fire went to theirs. 

Studying being the only thing they did besides eat, sleep, pee, shower, and dance (for fun points. There was also a couple streaking episodes, I will not lie), I was OK. Am I doing a six kid household in college every again. Hell no. Two kids is PLENTY. The only fun I had this round was the first day, and then after their last final exam.

So, to the pictures!

-- Fenris, after I fixed him and gave him a new choice in clothing... oh... yeah... *Drool* (That's a lie, actually. These are his real clothes, and I realize I failed to get a full body shot of him in his sexy trenchcoat)
-- Marian got changed too (Can't really tell with that camera in the way)... Her make-up is several degrees brighter and looks more natural, and her hair got changed. IF you're interested in what she's taking a picture of, click on the third one on the bullet above this. 
-- Studying. At least, Fenris is. Marian-- I don't know what she's doing. 
-- Uhh, if I took off the blur like I normally do for the sake of realism, this would be SO unsafe for network viewing. I hope Marian notices that Fenris is RIGHT THERE streaking his way through the dorm (he rolled up that he wanted to streak-- I swear. It got his fun up too! I promise he put his clothes back on and went back to studying afterwards as soon as his fun was up... ).
-- I should've just gotten one dorm room for them. He always crashed in Marian's room, and never in his own unless I physically told him to go to bed in his dorm. 
-- Yup. Another shot of Fenris with no shirt. I hope Marian realized the only reason she got in this shot was because she wouldn't move fast enough. 
-- Aww-- Dancey kiss again! So cute in PJs!

MRC, reading your sims story is like reading a fanfiction I swear, LMAO. Good stuff and I will never understand your patience to manage that many sims. I could never do a legacy playthrough where the people actually had family and kids and got old and died and had more kids and etc. etc. I just wanted my sims to be young and happy and rich and do whatever the F they wanted FOREVER, LOL.

I also killed random sims so I could find ghosts and make zombies and vampires and such. Oh, I know... heartless me... muahahahaha.

They look good because most TS2 kids come out good-- although it helps I use certain sets of faces in equal measure from the controlled half to balance out the heir(ess)'s face when they breed. Plus, BaseGen was GORGEOUS, and the kids only got more pretty from there (D-Gen, unfortunately, and as well E-Gen, and F-Gen so far have been the best).

I also only have the patience for legacies 'cause I like to make pretty sim babies (that reads off so weird). And I love huge family trees. Although I'm tempted to abadon the legacy and go to Fenris and Marian-- but then I'm glad they're spares. They don't get played often so they don't age much, and they wander around town and I go, "Hey guys! Good to see you!! I MISS YOU!!!!!!!!! :crying:"

I wanted Fire for heiress though-- Fenris and her basically have the same face, and it's sad but... they make uber-pretty sim babies. Maybe I'll switch to her and Brigan for mains and kick Feanor and Bethany out together so they can have bug-eyed babies (Bethany has huge eyes) on the side. I'm also tempted to play Fenris and Marian to have kids-- I've got a cute idea. I'd have to feed Marian cheesecake for it to work though...

 == MRC'S TS2 LEGACY UPDATE ==

Another one? Well, yeah, because this morning's was actually yesterday's, and this is today's. So I actually got a lot accomplished today so far, and I'm not even through with the day.

So to wrap up college, I decided to do portraits! *Huzzah! I am officially a momento freak!*

-- Fenris and Marian intially how they were going to be for the picture when I was setting up.
-- The entire group! ( L --> R: Fire, Carver, Feanor, Bethany, Fenris, and Marian)

And then, of course, I spent half an hour trying to locate Fire's hubby on random lots and get them to be spawning hearts for each other (I accidently found Brigan because he walked up to Fire and was good enough to greet her) before I did the graduation party, but at least I brought along Fenris and Marian and they had some fun.
-- I hear a song coming on! 

Graduation Party -- I only come with a .gif. Fenris got another black-haired buzz-cut. <_<
-- And this shot after the party... Fenris! DON'T LEAAAVVEEEE MEEEEEEEE! I'm sorry I insulted your buzz-cut! COME BAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCKKKKKK!!!

Then I just sent everyone back to the main town, and threw everyone on the Legacy lot to steal their money spend a few more moments with everyone (and fix Fenris and Marian's clothes-- Fenris's YA trenchcoat came back!) before sending Carver to his own home (where he tried to impress chicks with his ability to "hang loose" ) and throwing the weddings.
-- First up was Feanor and Bethany's (they got married at night. In the rain. I'm so jealous). Only reason I took this shot is to show how many witches-- I mean, mages-- Fenris has in his family that you can blatantly see (anyone that glows, and then a few more that don't because they're neutral). And that's definately not everyone.
-- Aww, the happy couple looks happy!
-- Next day was Fenris and Marian's. I think I broke the DA2 canon of canony-ness. Oops.
-- Fenris seeing his Uncle Eomer after a long, long time. Really. Last time they saw each other, Fenris was waist high to him.
-- Wedding-smustle pics! [1] [2] [3]

So, what happened? Well, we clearly saw Carver seems happy at his new place. Bethany and Feanor moved into their own little house (since they both rolled up they wanted to get engaged and get married to each other despite Feanor being a fortune Sim-- the poor girl I made for him is all lonely now), Feanor getting a good job in architecture. They are expecting their first little bug-eyed demon baby. Fenris and Marian also got their own place (a nice little house I built from scratch for them), Fenris now having a nice job in music (he brings in really good money, actually) and Marian keeping an eye out for a job. They seem very happy.

Now, I feel like a voyuer and I'm now officially destined for some low level of fan-girl hell as I leave this.

It was only a few days ago when I chatted to someone on DA about that... we ended up with 1. A "There can be only one broody LI" situation, 2. Funny Crack Pairing 3. A combination of the first two (Lol, rivalmance) 4. They'd see that they were kindred spirits and be BFFs forever. *cackles*

Bishop, Qara, and Safiya... 

Actually, I can only think of funny things using Bishop and Qara-- Safiya.. eh, she's a Red Wizzie and even though she's pretty cool, I don't think Fenris would think of her well because of it. But then Qara is a uncontrollable sorceress and Bishop... oh there is so many words that aren't so pleasant to describe him, with a couple nicer ones for people who liked him at one point or another (which, I do-- he, Khelgar, and Ammon Jerro are the only reasons I can still keep playing NWN2 OC when I don't feel to hot and wonder where the hell my head went the next day).

Too much typing talking. Must get working.

Fenris: Yes.

Anders: ...and that's why the Chantry's perpetuation of anti-mage propaganda keeps the common man in the dark to the realities of mage life.

Disciple: That is...all well and good, but I just wanted to see if you knew anything about the Jedi.

Anders: Are they mages?
