I was wondering if everyone has experienced something similar, where you just had to go through numerous PT before you got to "the one" that just fit, just worked. I've reached that point, I think, and I'm liking it alot. Ironic that that's so just as the DLC are starting to appear, hehe.

Valen (please if you know me you know I'd never pass up a chance like this. xP And I wouldn't be able to do a Valen prompt without my beloved Elizabeth making an appearance...)
Faline studied the tiefling as he ravished the stew she'd given him, as if he hadn't eaten in days. Long, loose, crimson hair, pale skin, ice-blue eyes. She had to admit, he was handsome. Then her eyes trailed to the smooth, dark horns that were set upon his skull, and the long, spaded tail that lashed irritably.
When he finally realized she was staring at him, Valen look up.
"Is there something wrong, my lady?" he asked, though sure he knew the answer.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, it's just..." the elven mage frowned. "I've never seen someone like you before..."
"I'd imagine not," he said with a hollow chuckle.
Silence fell over them again. Faline leaned against the door frame, thinking over what had happened. It had been raining when she stumbled across this strange man, unconscious in the woods. Being the kindhearted soul she was, Faline had taken him into her home.
Suddenly, she heard the front door open and close loudly. Both she and Valen turned towards the sound.
"Damn! That'll be Fenris." Faline muttered.
"Who?"
"My husband." she answered as she ran into the main hall.
"Fenris, wait!" she cried.
"Is something wrong, Faline" the elf asked, pulling off the raincloak.
"Okay, listen to me...when you were out playing Diamondback with Varric, I took a walk along the Wounded Coast-"
"Alone? Faline are you mad?" Fenris demanded. She shot him a reproachful look.
"I found someone. He was alone and unconscious and hurt so...I brought him here."
"He?"
"Just...come here." Faline grabbed her husband's hand and led him to the spare room.
The moment Fenris saw Valen sitting there on the bed, he pulled Faline away from the door and glared at her.
"Faline, what is wrong with you?"
"I don't bloody know! I just...I couldn't leave him there!"
"What is he?" Fenris growled. "He has-"
"I know Fenris, but I highly doubt he's some goat-shem hybrid!" Faline snapped. "Just listen to me! We are not throwing him out! We're going to take care of him until he decides to leave. Understood?"
"Faline-"
"Under. Stood?" she hissed, looking determined.
Fenris glared at her for a moment more before sighing and backing away.
"I suppose there's no stopping you." he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Look, you're starting to learn!" Faline grinned. "Now, come meet our new house guest."
------
Two weeks later, and Faline still wouldn't let Valen leave. She insisted he wasn't in any shape to leave, not since the war between the mages and the templars had begun to get even more violent.
Fenris didn't like him. Not one bit. It was even worse when he discovered he was part demon. Faline had defended him then too. They'd fought for days over it. Valen only talked to Faline. The only other thing Fenris had found out was that the demonspawn was looking for someone. He could only wonder what that meant.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Annoyed, Fenris set down his book and went to answer it.
When he opened the door, standing there in a strange mix of black plate and leather armor, was a short human woman, brown hair tied back tightly away from her face. In her arms was a toddler, who looked ridiculously like the demonspawn Valen, even tail and horns.
"Excusey me," she said in a thickly accented voice, green eyes flashing dangerously. "But I'm lookeeng for a tiefleeng. A tiefleeng named Valen Shadowbreath. He 'as long red hair, blue eyes, pale skin, horns and a tail...'ave you seen anvone matcheeng zat descreeption?"
Fenris raised one ebony eyebrow. "Yes I have."
----
"VALEN!"
"Elizabeth?"
The woman ran up to the tiefling, her angry determination melting away into love and worry.
"Oh Gods, I vas so vorried about you!" she whispered. Then she turned angry again, punching the man in his shoulder. "Vhy in ze Nine 'ells deedn't you tell me you vere leaveeng?!"
"Because I knew you'd either want to come with me or wouldn't let me go." Valen grimaced. "This is something I have to do, Liz."
"I don't bloody care!" she shouted. "You are a father now, you are not allowed to just run off like zat!"
The two continued bickering, and the elven couple observed from afar.
"Oh, isn't that just so sweet?" Faline cooed, holding their child as she'd offered earlier.
"'Sweet' isn't exactly what I would call it." Fenris muttered, eyeing the toddler as she reached up to grab a strand of Faline's hair.
"Fenris, I was talking about them arguing. Though she is just adorable." Faline grinned and made weird noises that made Fenris raise an eyebrow. The child love it, though, giggling and squirming.
"Feeen?"
"No."
"Oh come on, you know you want to!"
"No, I don't."
"Pleeeease? Just one baby?"
"Faline, I thought you said you never wanted children." Fenris said through gritted teeth.
"Well, I changed my mind." The little girl yawned widely, her tail snaking through the air and lightly wrapping around Fenris' wrist. He jolted and pulled away.
"See?" Faline giggled. "She likes you!"

So, yea, I'm almost finished with another PT now. I heard about the new DLC coming out, anyway, and wanted a PT with the Hawke that's been swirling around in my head for a couple weeks now. I feel as if I've finally fleshed out the story to my complete satisfaction, enough I have a true and real canon that worked, for me. And I think I've got it nailed down pretty well at this point.
I was wondering if everyone has experienced something similar, where you just had to go through numerous PT before you got to "the one" that just fit, just worked. I've reached that point, I think, and I'm liking it alot. Ironic that that's so just as the DLC are starting to appear, hehe.
I know what you mean. Aniya, the canon Hawke, is my fourth PT (after I did an unspoiled rogue and two disasterous warrior attempts, one to explore Templar support and one that set out to rival everyone that I abandoned). I based Aniya's import on my Queen Cousland save, which is not my Canon Warden, so I didn't expect to get into Aniya so much. (My canon warden was not the first PT either - Irynne Cousland, DW Warrior, DR/WardenStair romance, killed the architect and saved the city).
However, I got that great scene with that blood mage whose name escapes me (the one involved with Leandra's murder - I usually just insta-kill him), I did a lot more exploration of Fenris dialogues, and Aniya herself is both my best-looking character (IMO, so far) and the perfect mix of diplomatic and sarcastic to be very engaging.
I am considering restarting Aniya on the canon Warden save just in case it becomes relevant, but we'll see. I want to try to play ME and ME2 over my semester break, but at this point, I don't think I'd resent restarting the canon so it's perfect. (that would make this my 5th PT - but who's counting, since I've only finished 3 so far). OTOH, the reason I would have for not doing so is having Alistair and Usula on the throne gives me some material for the 3-year gap that I like. Decisions, decisions. (Or, do I start a mage or warrior based on my Canon Warden save and see how it goes? Rogues are my faves because traps make me crazy, but canon HAwke is already a rogue...*ponder*) There's also that Amell/Zev romance I've been considering...
So many choices!

Huzzah for MageHawke Rivalmance giving Fenris more issues then he already has.
Started out as a sketch with no story, just wanted Fenris looking protective of Marric, then I thought about big scary templars and Marric actually being in need of rescueing, then the blood splatter and such came into it. (As a side note I whish more templars did mana drain when fighting them… I only ever saw Meredith do it in game)"

Hawke: (lowering staff) What was that?!
Fenris: What was what?
Hawke: I thought the plan was that you charge the archers and I take care of the ones with the swords!
Fenris: And leave you outmatched in close combat? I think not.
Hawke: I thought we already had the "delicate mage flower" conversation. I don't need to be guarded.
Fenris: The way you flail that staff of yours around paints a different picture.
Hawke: I don't flail.

She has a unique look with the black/purple hair and the lavender eyes (my avatar). She friended everyone, and sided with the mages, romanced Fenris of course. It just felt like the right character, the right build, the right everything. When I think of all my .. what.. 7 Hawkes.. she is the one that is the best I think.
My first (virgin) playthrough was a muddle-through wtf don't know what I'm doing playthrough where Izzy left me, Fenris got rivalmanced then friendmanced (don't even ask how this happened), and Anders was my BFF for life. Merrill was my super rival. Everyone else was kinda meh.. Aveline somewhere in the friendship but not maxed. It was an interesting set of circumstances looking back, and I totally had no clue, LMAO.
I think it takes a few playthroughs to really get "the one." I'm thinking of doing another PT before the DLC as well. I'm not sure though. I've never had a blonde Hawke.. everyone needs a blonde Hawke.. at least ONE. I have 3 mage PT -- one being my evil F you all blood mage Hawke. Yet I love the mage PT, and am seriously considering another. I haven't played in a while. I miss it.
So many awesome pics! Rei as always is tha epic sketcher. I wish I could turn out art like you guys. Wolf's Rain is on my fav, and Lone Wolf is beautiful. I wish I could do CG stuff, but alas.
I always hated how mages are "delicate mage flowers," but I do love the thought of Fenris being so protective. It's like the perfect balance. You know sometimes I just solo out on the wounded coast with Fenris and mage Hawke and the way the compliment eachother in battle is excellent. He is always up in the melee grouping them all up together and my Hawke just knocks them down with her magic. I also love how Fenris always seems to rush back to my Hawke's side after the battle. He's such a good meat shield. heehee.

Anders: Are they mages?
Disciple: (sighs)
They were actually voice by the same actors.

- If the Blade of Mercy has the Primeval Lyrium Rune the attack speed boost is about 37%. Combined with the blade's built-in 5% you're swinging 42% faster, if that's not enough if you put point's into Fenris' specialization and purchased Battle Tempo Fenris' swing is and additional 30% faster for ten seconds after he kills someone. Total boost: 72% faster attacks. For more fun have Anders or Hawke cast Haste for a 122% faster attacks.
- What's the big deal? If you put points towards the Vanguard specialization and gave Fenris Massacre. he only needs to deal 80% of the damage needed to kill a standard enemy. This means that with the massive speed boost and the buffs provided by the Vanguard spec Fenris can quickly tear through hordes of enemies in a broody twister of gore.

Also, @Doctor: Fenris is a fantastic tank only because he has SO much DPS. I give him vigilance though as a weapon, but the attack speed boost is still very noticeable and the DPS with vigilance more than makes up for what you lose.
Pairing Fenris with a mage is ideal (lol, he would probably kill me for saying that o.O;). Someone with haste makes it definitely worthwhile. Also putting freeze (brittle) is ideal because Fenris can just knock them out in one shot when they are brittle. Anyways, I usually build up his chain first with some points to get taunt and then build up with Vanguard. DPS, massive damage. Plus I put points into dexterity to give crit strike some punch. By then Fenris doesn't really work as a meat shield so much as a devastating "kill them before they kill you" DPS tank. As he should be!

class 1: Be hit really hard
class 2: Hit really hard
Aveline is class one
Fenris is class two here.
Poor Templars in the Last Straw.... Fenris is like a more deadly version of Speedy Gonzales.

I think the only fight I really choose Aveline over Fenris is the highdragon, but even then he works very well because if you give him taunts he can keep the dragon focused on him and when the little minions come out you rip them up quick with damage. Plus, he can actually take a hit, and with certain accessories resists stuns and so basically just mauls the dragon when he isn't being tossed into the air or having fireballs thrown at him.
I had a sudden realization just now. I loved Alistair in DA:O, and Fenris in DA2 -- hmm, warrior love. Though in DA:A I had to go with Anders or Nate as my favorite. Then again I always liked Justice as well. I didn't "love" any of them though, at least not to the same degree as Alistair and Fenris. Of course that leaves out the other warriors, but so far my two great loves were both warriors. Wonder if that means anything, LOL.

I gave Marric a lot of ice spells so he's always running into the thick of battle to cone of cold everything, must give the tanks looking out for him heart attacks!

When I thought of that picture I was thinking how Fenris probably doesn't ever sleep very well. I imagine he has frequent nightmares, is always on edge (especially before Danarius is dead), and I can't imagine how anyone could actually sleep on that bed of his or in that mansion of his. So, in my head I imagined he probably feels most comfortable with Hawke or at Hawke's mansion. This pic came to me because I like the idea that Hawke and Fenris have a mutual relationship in which they rely on eachother, and can feel safe around eachother.
Looking at the pic though I imagine him coming awake any moment and going "wtf! did I fall asleep.. Hawke, what are you doing....?"
Hawke: "uhh... nothing, don't mind me" *whistles innocently*

My Hawkes do the bolded, but will fail to do the last part. Not that she *likes* to see Fenris suddenly shoot over to taunt everything off her and beat the brains out of the ones that won't leave her be. :innocent:
Edgy sleep though, eh? I imagine at home, he sleeps with a small armory under his pillow (if he has one, otherwise, it's right there, under the bed) At Hawke's (since I imagine Fenris would think Hawke would be alarmed if he brought his small armory to hide under his pillow) he'd probably have the greatsword right there by the bed, sleeps slightly more relaxed, but sudden noises (ex. Hawke gets up to get something to drink because s/he is thirsty and stubs their toe.) wake him up.
Now, what to do? *Glances between normal TS2 M&G starter and a TS2 AnyGame (Up to M&G) starter*

I find this is true for me as well. Fenris is a damage dealing monster by the end of the game.
It is funny how it feels like Fenris does sort hover over a romanced Hawke in battle. I have noticed it before and wondered if it was my imagination.
