LMAO It does look like flailing!

Fenris: What are you doing?

Hawke: I'm practicing using my staff in close combat.

Fenris: Really? I couldn't tell. It looks to me like your trying to beat something to death with a broom.

Hawke: Well then if your the expert on staves, let's see you do better. (tosses Fenris her staff)

Fenris: (spins staff around so that the bladed end is pointing up) What is this?

Hawke: You know what it is.

Fenris: What is it though?

Hawke: The pointy end.

Fenris: And what do you do with weapons that have pointy ends?

Hawke: You stab things with them?

Fenris: Exactly, when one is wielding a spear the idea is to stab the enemy with it.

Hawke: But it's a staff that shoots blasts of arcane energy.

Fenris: That may be, but when an enemy is up close your vaunted staff is no more than a fancy spear. I suggest you use it as such.

I HAD to share this with you guys. I was looking at random youtube videos, and came across this...and the comment at the top is really the funniest thing I have ever read about Fenris. Hopefully I'm not the only one amused.

The comment with 139 likes. lol...so true.

I can't see it from my phone :(. Have to look later.

Been thinking... people find Fenris so abrasive and because of his bluntness (interpreted rudeness) they feel he isn't worth keeping around. I find his blunt, straight to the point no sugar coating attitude refreshing. People spend way to much time making small talk and sugar coating things. Fenris thinks before he speaks and speaks what he thinks rude or not. If it is hurtful or anger that drives it he appologizes. I love this about him. People tend to hate him for it :/

Hate him? Gosh, how can you hate that voice? It's damh smexy!

But I am with you there. I am only glad I hang around with Fenris fan girls most of the time and steer clear away from the Fenris haters. Life's too short to dwell on what we don't like than what we like, don't you think?

Honestly, in mele combat with unmounted men, I'd prefer a quarterstaff to a spear most days, especially if I didn't have a lot of upper body strength. Spears and pikes are for fighting horsemen. There are some other situations where I'm sure you'd prefer a glaive or a pike, but in general long-handed bladed weapons favor strength, while you can get good results with a quarterstaff from pure dexterity.

And now I'm picturing Fenris trying to convince Hawke that an unadorned quarterstaff is the best bet for combat, given factors of weight, balance, and versatility, and Hawke clinging to whatever staff they currently fancy because it's shiny.

I like how Sebastian and even Aveline offer Fenris an opportunity to teach his wily warrior ways to others. Honestly, though he would probably make a terrible teacher. I have no idea what kind of patience he has but I would assume it is akin to my own which is... not mUCH.

Also, I don't think he has enough confidence to actually try to teach the things he has learned. However, with Hawke I could totally see him pointing out the obvious and trying to make him/her a better mage/warrior/rogue. I've always wondered about that staff... why is there a pointy end again? I remember reading a long time ago about how some stave users used to tie blades at the end of their staves so they could be lethal at close range. I see it as something like that, but truth be told it is probably just because it looks cool. Weapons in games don't have to make sense, they just have to look awesome, LOL.

Also, for a blood mage it is an excellent point on which to STAB YOURSELF through the abdomen to accomplish.. you know.. blood magicy.. things. *shrug*

BTW: WELCOME Vrex!! Always appreciate a fellow Fenris Fan :D. *slides cookies and cakes and what have you's that we have sitting in the back for newcomers* Don't worry... they are... fresh..

I have always liked that about both of those character as well.  Especially Sebastion, he goes out of his way to point out to a disbelieving Fenris all he has accomplished.  I think Sebastion was underwritten in the game but I like his character overall.

I can't see Fenris as a teacher but he could surprise us:P

I actually thought the new staff look was a camoflage thing for Kirkwall; "what this? This isn't a staff! It's a spear, I specialise in polearm use, you see."

Haha, yeah there's no way I could see him teaching Aveline's guards. He would get super annoyed too fast. HOWEVER, I can totally see him having training sessions with romanced Hawke..because that certainly wouldn't annoy him. I think he's the kind of person who would get a kick out of sparring.

Ohh, I'll just post what it says. It's a video of when Fenris comes to the mansion in act 2 for the romance scene...and someone goes:

"Wow, only Fenris can pull off the ultimate booty call, and walk away looking like HE just got used. Your game is strong elfman."

I lol'd.

I have seen the video before.  And it's very true.  It's amazing how he pulls that off.  Some how you feel bad for Fenris and not Hawke.

I know, right?? Fenris comes to your house, totally seduces you with his green eyes and deep voice to the point where you can't just say "Uh, no..leave" or you'd feel very bad. OR, he comes to your house and talks to you about Hadriana, gets a little upset about his hatred then suddenly "decides" to leave since he thinks he's burdening you...so Hawke, being so nice and sweet is like "Wait, don't go! We can talk about this!" and then he shoves Hawke into the wall..as if he didn't know what that was going to end with. Definitely a giant conspiracy to just sex Hawke.

Then he gets up in the middle of the night and ditches you! and you're like "aww, so sad. :(" and it's not till the next day you go "wait..wtf, so we're just totally over?!"

His game IS strong. Bahahaha.
