Nice to see Fenris' fanbase is still going strong
I wanted to ask your opinion about something, if you don't mind. I know the 3 year gap and Danarius confrontation are important to have the 'real' Fenrismance, if you presume that Hawke really cares about his feelings/isn't a douchebag.
What if Hawke is a douchebag, though? I'm writing a fic in which Hawke is a powerhungry manipulator and, well, waiting 3 years in this case seems... Forced. Do you think underhanded emotional manipulation techniques would work on Fenris after Act 2 to get him back into Hawke's bed, or will he maintain his 'do not want' policy? He does mention that he regretted going away almost instantly...
This is hard to answer because many people headcanon that him and Hawke "slip up" from time to time within that 3 year gap and do things "they might regret." Or just turn to eachother for accident, lust, what-have-you. Personally, other than perhaps maybe one or two incidents afterwards like a kiss or something I don't see Fenris waivering on his "do not want" policy.
I also don't think manipulation would work on him. If Hawke tries to be deceitful and manipulative of his feelings I think that would only damage their trust/respect and push him farther away. I think the best way to go about it -- say for your fic is to make it seem like an accidental, one night of passion to make them realize the feelings are still there and still alive. Your Hawke can still be a douche, but I don't think it could be forced with Fenris. It has to be something that just happens, and Fenris would not stay with Hawke, he would leave again I'm sure. "Too much, too fast." Also, he realizes he is still being hunted, still not truly free, and so is focused on Danarius, and finding his sister as well. He isn't ready to admit to himself he can't live without Hawke until there is an actual future in front of him after Danarius' death.
Opinion and theory... hope it helps somewhat.
Also, LMAO at the prompts! Fenris and his perceptiveness,

.
I always found that part in the short story amusing. It seems so unlike Fenris the way he just grins at that woman because he knows she is scared to death of him. Then takes off with the bread, priceless. Of course my mind wanders to Aladdin in that scene

, and that disturbs me somewhat. Still, I always wish there was more Gaider writings on Fenris. While I like the short story, I crave more! It was.. well... short.
My favorite part is:
'“Considering what happened last time, I’m surprised you decided to try again.”
“It’s not just about the coin any longer, slave.”
Oh, how Fenris loved it when they said that. “Not afraid you’ll lose your head for good?”'
