Apples to Apples is awesome. Pretty simple once you get the game dynamics down, too. It's one of those games to play with friends while you're drinking something fun and alcoholic. My kids once yelled at us from upstairs we all needed to shut up during a particular Apples to Apples marathon we adults were enjoying, hehe.

Basic way the game is played:
Red cards list names, events, things...everything from "Abe Lincoln" to "Monkeys" to "Moons of Jupiter" and more. Green cards list adjetives and descriptive phrases, from "Curious" to "Bitterly" to "Insane" and more. Everyone takes turns placing one green card in middle of table so that the other players can offer a red card that best fits that particular green card. So if the green card displayed says "Irrational" you could choose a red card to play that says "Politicians", for instance. Once everyone has offered a red card, the person taking a turn chooses the red card he/she thinks is the best one that fits the green card during that turn. The person who has more red cards declared the best by the end of the game, wins.

And, yay, I'm at top of the newest page, too!  Enjoy:

On a Fenris note, has anyone downloaded the black jacket mod for Fenris? On a whim, I did this last night and can't decide if I like it or not. What do you guys think?

Anyone have a screen shot?

Somehow I don't like those mod. In my head I always picture Fenris with his special armour, nothing else could replace it.

I had Fenris use the red jacket mod for part of Act 3, as it does look nice. However, it just didn't feel right so I changed it back. I think I like seeing that red band and Amell crest on him too much! X-)

So I finished yet another playthrough with a mage!Hawke who sided with the Templars. At the end Varric says that after what had happend at The Gallows the people of Kirkwall "begged Hawke to rule" and he/she becomes Viscount. So much for reassuring Fenris that not all mages want to be Magisters.

Hawke Estate

Fenris: You look troubled.

Hawke: (sighs) They want me to become Viscount, it would stablize the political climate in Kirkwall until the Chantry can assign a new Circle and Templar detachment.

Fenris: I assume that there is a catch to all of this.

Hawke: Cullen heard that the Divine is sending the Seekers to  the city. What do you suppose would happen if they saw a mage acting as Viscount?

Fenris: Ah.

Hawke: What do you think I should do?

Fenris: I think you should become Viscount. Do what you feel is best and then leave before the Seekers get here.

Hawke: What happened to "Standing to face the tiger"?

Fenris: Sometimes it is wiser to run from the tiger to fight another day.

I understand "this is too much, too fast, I cannot." But Ok... we can slow down, back up a few steps, but that doesn't mean we have to just say "nope, hands off for three years. Also, no talking!" That may be better for Fenris, but I don't think refusing to talk about it is better for Hawke. Fenris as much as admits that: he knows not talking about it may well make Hawke hate him, but that just seemed safer to him at the time. The fact that he realizes at the end that leaving was probably the wrong decision is my favorite part of that scene.

Alright so this is a really hard question to answer, but I think it boils down to self preservation and self defense mechanisms. Hawke and Fenris continue to work together, be friends/rivals/companions, after that night. While it can be different for everyone how "hurt" your Hawke actually is by him leaving there is no doubt that him leaving does hurt Hawke in some way. Being left is never easy.

Now, as far as the not talking about it. 1.) It brings up painful emotions that Fenris does not want to have to face. 2.) His plan is to remain stoic and focus on himself for a while and so he buries his feelings for Hawke. Even though I imagine he regrets his decision from the moment he leaves because his feelings DON'T go away like he thinks they will in time. 3.) He is deliberately pushing Hawke away to protect himself, and honestly and simply just does not want to go there in a conversation because he doesn't know what to say to make it better or easier. I go back to what he said after Leandra dies "To be honest, I don't think there is much point in filling these moments with empty talk." -- He is very bad at serious, emotional talks, and to talk about that night without knowing how he feels about it, and what the long term plan is just isn't something he can find himself capable of doing.

Now, as far as well why can't they work it out, take it slow, allow Hawke to be there for him. He basically does that thing where he protects Hawke by forcing the decision that he is simply not worth the trouble. He doesn't want Hawke to be dragged along in his personal struggles. He doesn't want Hawke to be there doting on him, pitying him, feeling sorry for him while he works out his inner demons. He doensn't believe that is fair for Hawke. After all, he dragged Hawke into his life, and while Hawke chose to help him, Fenris doesn't want Hawke to be burdened with it. He already owes Hawke a debt for helping him in the beginning. He pledged his service, and intends to keep that pledge as long as he is needed or called upon. Yet, when he makes that decision to leave Hawke he believes it is better for both of them. He thinks he is protecting Hawke, a little hurt now, less hurt later. "Only, it isn't better."

There are things that people have to figure out for themselves. That doesn't mean that Hawke can't be his friend, or still be there for him even as a rival. He just doesn't want the relationship because he has to figure himself out first. He was ready for the relationship (he thought) before the memories jolted him back to reality. He is also punishing himself for doing that to Hawke, and part of that is having Hawke hate him. If Hawke hates him then maybe she/he will be able to move on from him, and maybe he will be able to stop feeling the way he does about Hawke.

George?? LMAO... I don't think I can pass as a george o.O

as for the prompt -- I was working on my pic and need a break

So... here goes... *ahem* -- *looks around to see if boyfriend is looking* no? good... *goes to dirty gutter mind*

*Hawke approaches Fenris' mansion in the dead of night. Hawke knocks and waits, then knocks again more insistently. Fenris finally opens the door.*

Hawke: Here Fenris, I need to show you something.

Fenris: Hawke? What could possibly be so important at this hour of night?

Hawke: Oh, just let me in so I can explain it to you. I'll worry about why I had to bring it at this hour.

Fenris: Alright. *he opens the door wider and allows Hawke to enter*

Hawke: Okay, I know you hate magic and all that, but...

Fenris: I already don't like where this is going.

Hawke: I found something at that market we found in the sewers, and well that Xenon guy was so persistent I couldn't refuse.

Fenris: So, you went to the black emporium, and bought something. This couldn't wait until later? I'm not sure I understand.

Hawke: Oh... just look. *she tosses the package she is holding to Fenris*

*He looks at the package, then back to Hawke with a raised eyebrow expression*

Fenris: Please tell me this isn't what I think it is.

Hawke: He said it was from Antiva. I thought, well.. he was persistent. I didn't know what to do with it, and it was just sitting there all out in the open. He practically shoved it in my hands. I figured, why not. It could be... useful.

Fenris: You do know what it is "used for," right? You probably should have taken it to Isabela. This seems her type of thing.

Hawke: She probably would have stolen it too. Besides, I thought, you know, it could be our type of thing, too.

Fenris: *chuckles* Hawke, you continue to surprise me. Imagine if someone had found these in your mansion.

Hawke: That's why I couldn't leave them lying about! I had to bring it before Bodhan found it in the morning! So... can I take it by your reaction that you approve of the idea? *smirks* I'll go first... I'm willing.

Fenris: Alright then, the night is still young. Though, I think Xenon saw you coming, Hawke.

Hawke: Perhaps, or perhaps I just picked it up and stole it. *smiles suggestively* So, the only question remains... which one do you want to try first?

The mod author has changed it so that the red band shows, but I do not know about the crest.

Something has been bugging me and here it is, does Fenris' voice actor also voice the Mystical voice for the Grey warden? I swear I keep hearing Fenris only for it to be my own Warden...

Gideon Emery voices quite a lot of characters in Origins (as well as a few in DA2 that aren't Fenris, such as Samson)... he's like the Dragon Age Voice Acting Ninja.

Edit: I just posted the question to Mr Emery's page... I'm Surreal Evony there, so....

Popping back in from playing HotU (because I finally got NWN Diamond).

On: Fenris's Coat (mod)--

I'd get it with the version that has the blue feathers on it if I had to get Fenris a coat-- black and blue on him are very sexy -- I mean... uhh... charming! Otherwise, the only mod I'd get for his armor would be a black and silver retexture of it that I saw.

What? I may play on PS3, but it's not rare for one such as me to go onto the DA Nexus and stare with green envy going, "WHY?! Why did I tell the nice GameStop man when he asked if I wanted to pre-order DA2 for PC and I told him 'No, I want it for PS3'? WHHHHHHHHHYYYYYY?!"

P.S. On the topic of mods, I nearly made an account on the DA Nexus end just to vote this file down.

Let's try this again.

Prompt

Mountains outside of Kirkwall

Isabela: Nothing like camping out in the wilds of the Free Marches while hunting the Carta to unwind, eh Fenris?

Fenris: Indeed.

Isabela: (pretends you yawn) It's getting colder out, I guess I'll go crawl into my soft, warm bedroll.

Fenris: Sleep well.

Isabela: Don't you want to warm yourself up?

Fenris: Someone needs to keep watch.

Isabela: You could come with me.

Fenris: Why?

Isabela: Maybe I want to show you my journal.

Fenris: I didn't know you had a journal.

Isabela: I don't.

Fenris: Then why did you-

Isabela: (pointing her finger into Fenris' chest)  Look. You know what I want. Enough dancing around the issue!

Fenris: I still don't follow.

Isabela: Andraste's kickers! How can one man be so dense! (storms off)

Fenris: What just happened?

Varric: Well, I think that was Rivaini's attempt at being subtle.

Isabela ... subtle... HA! Love it.

Though now that you mention it I see it going down more like this:

Isabela: So, when I said I enjoy a man with markings like that. You know that meant I'm open for sex anytime, right?

Fenris: I gathered as much, yes. However, I don't think your offer is very exclusive.

Isabela: You know, contrary to popular belief I DO have standards.

Fenris: Apparently half of Thedas fits those standards.

Isabela: Hey! I resent that. Still, that brooding demeanor, those markings, those eyes. Can't blame a girl for trying to jump your bones.

Hawke: *ahem* Isabela... Fenris?.. am I interrupting something?

Isabela: Nope, just trying to convince Fenris to have sex with me. He's so stubborn!

Hawke: Hmm, so same old same old then?

Fenris: Pretty much. Though, if she starts talking about leather and glistening again I'm leaving.

Isabela: Don't forget feathers and leashes! *winks at Hawke*

Hawke: *rolls eyes*

Their expressions are fantastic. I like the background too. Gives a really good "motion" feel. As if Fenris just rushed in and grabbed him mid-battle.

Plus I just want to go "dawwww Fenris, don't worry so much" XD.

LOL, the eyes were my favorite part as well. Though I don't recommend staring at them as long as I had to when I was drawing the thing >.<.

Also, I couldn't resist and started up a new playthrough. Now I laugh at bait and switch because I'm all.. oh god.. it's THE MYSTERY BOX again XD.
