The Official Fenris Discussion thread

"Fenris checks his watch.. oh where are they?" Lol. My brain spliced a little with giggles.
It might have been in the fanfic thread cgg. In the mods and fan creation thingy. Also, cgg don't you think you can hide from us fenfans muahaha.
As for fenders it has put me in a foul mood-- that and work tonight. I will attempt to take the sharp edge off my posts. I am not offended or defensive. Seriously though in legacy Anders and fenris have some civil discussion. Where I got my assumption was by breaking down the post to root logical form. I do this...
Hatred induces passion. Passion can be sexual. Therefore,
It is worth noting they have civilized banters. Therefore,
It is up to interpretation of characters and banters. Therefore,
Fanart and fanfic that illustrate tension and pull out sexual tension is enjoyable. Especially if well written.
Moreover, fanfic that is AU is acceptable because it is an easy route for results.
The logic... is... what? Yet the statement about banter hangs there as a proof for pulling out sexual tension. Falling back on the safety net of like it or leave it and interpretation.
Canon is canon fanfic is fanfic. Fenders is... something in left field. It changes the characters. It forces them into something unreasonable. Now fanfiction can do it too, but good fanfiction sticks to character plausability. There are a lot of crappy fics out there but fenders becomes bad fix because it can't stay in character, stick to plot and ignores vital canon aspects. Gah this is way to hard to do from my phone. Im done... lol.

Also, here's my take on the whole Anders approves of giving Fenris over thing: by that point in the game, Anders pretty much thinks the sun shines out of Hawke's... something. He doesn't disapprove if Hawke fails to give Fenris to Danarius. He doesn't even suggest it or make a joke about it if Hawke doesn't initiate it. You would absolutely never know that Anders approves of it unless Hawke gets the ball rolling. You don't even know if Anders would consider it without Hawke suggesting it first. Personally, I don't think he would.
Actually if going by canon Anders clearly says he was thinking that. So influence would only work if Hawke defends Fenris, so Anders decided to fight for Fenris, or Hawke and Fenris by proxy. We have to assume since we get info from Anders that he wanted to let Danarius take Fenris that even if he helps Fenris in the end he is still thinking that they should just let Danarius take him.
Has anyone romancing Fenris ever just chosen the "you have friends line" duriing alone. It is so sweet, I had Aveline, Varric and Anders and it was all, We're your buds Fen! and anders snarking, well not me. I like that scene almost as much as the romance scene.

Yep on my bro!fenris playthrough I did that dialogue. It was a good scene. Likewise when it comes to Anders it is easy to infer he always wanted to turn fenris over. He insults him about his sister he obviously isn't a fan of helping fenris at any time. I can't just assume that fenris would do the same. Fenris actually tries to be nice after ella. With the whole ralize your limitations dialogue. Anders never makes that attempt. He goes straight for the jugular. Fenris mocks Anders after ella, but he isn't wrong. Anders is plain wrong and contradictory. Sell him back, damn mage hating elf... good riddance. Look, his sister is a mage no wonder he's so pissed... he wanted to be the mage. He's jealous of their power... im like Anders opens mouth.. inserts foot... *facepalm*
I know, if there is any look of anger outside wall romance scene it is the one Fenris had when Anders called him a hypocrite. I was preparing to step in cause I need that damn healer when we run off to fight the high dragon. Though my canon!Hawke really wanted to step back and just let Fenris punch him. (If the punch is glowy well

Yet he knows fenris was a slave... "you dont have the temperament of a slave.. " also he knows he is from tevinter.. a mage ruled society. So to sit there and say you hate mages because your sister is a mage and you envy their power? What? Anders you no make sense.. he was a slave to magisters he hates them for the same reason you hate templars. FFS man what is wrong with you?
Yet Fenris goes "what was it you said... u can control it?!" Im all yeah.. he did say that... yeah, merging with something that takes over your psyche and allows you to do things you wouldn't without it... yeah. Fenris damn your logic...your so.. right. Lol.
Oh yeah posting from phone so can't edit and typos everywhere! Forgive me.

He says he was thinking it, but in a way that sounds half-joking. It reminded me more of one of those times when you are having a really negative thought that you would never normally voice, and then your friend voices it, and you agree.
Say you're meeting an acquaintance of a friend, and this new girl is behaving poorly... making fun of people, interrupting them, just generally being a jerkface. After she leaves, you may feel stricken... and think "ohcrap she was so mean but she's my friend's friend so what can I say, ugh I hope I don't have to spend more time with her." If your friend then says "God, I hate her so much" you might respond "Oh good. I didn't want to say anything but man, jerk city USA, right?"
If, instead, your friend says "Sorry about that, she's normally not like that, she's just going through a lot of crap right now." you'd might feel incredibly guilty about your snap judgment. I think that's the situation here: Anders had a really negative thought, perhaps only for a split second, but it's only something he considers worth mentioning if Hawke validates it.
It just feels weird to me that so many people are intent on judging Anders based on a scene that you would never see if you didn't at least threaten to give Fenris over to Danarius, I'm pretty sure that if there was a scenario in game where Hawke could turn Anders or Merril over to the Templars that Fenris would approve of that as well. It's Hawke you should be upset with here, not Anders.

Oh fluffy Heavens nearly 1:30 am, I still want to go start a new playthrough, (I really should romance Isabela, she's gotten no love so far and I think it's unfair.) and I wanted to read a story that won't update! Gah, I need to leave the forum, I am obsessed with talking About Fenris, and talking to people about DA. My bf just stares at me blankly and says something along the lines of: "You know, I don't know how I feel about being jealous of a game character but I can tell you right now, I don't think its gonna be a happy emotion." He doesn't understand me *runs off to write in diary about it*

Oh man that example cgg. It would be more like the jerkface friend and you think "man someone should follow her home and murder her.. geez." That scenario has happened plenty of times to me but I voice my opinion. "Man your friend is kind of a jerk.." if they are my friend they will be like yeah ir weell (justification). Yet Anders isn't voicing some half arsed dark I don't like you thought. He is voicing some deep seated resentment jealousy and hate. As said it would be the equivolent of saying something waaaay out of line.. like my murder example. You don't joke about slavery in front of a former slave. Plus he isn't joking. He's dead serious about it and trying to save face.
Sorry, but yeah you can be angry and hate someone for saying stupid things like that. Not solely based on that, but it doesn't win Anders any bonus points.

Youtube made me do it too!

Youtube makes people do things a lot, it is an unkind site, it also forces me to watch Giving Isabela away. I can't do that either even though she betrayed me the first 2 playthroughs and even though she sometimes hits on my elf, I am not okay with that! Still, those two options seem beyond revenge and *evil* character. Plus, if you really want to, saving Isabela and doing the Castillon quest, I can punch her for hitting on Fenris when he had just broken up with me! Oh, umm, I mean I can punch her to make it really convincing to the Antivan guy. *cough*

Fesabela loool (that sounds like a fungus) is not so bad to me. I like them as a pair, but you know hawke will always be first for fenris. People get miffed at the flirts but I find them endearing if im not romancing either one of them. Let them find happy freedom together I say. Especially if your diddling with the other companions. Plus I live how fenris is stand offish to isabela if you romance him. All step off woman im taken. I smile...

Isabela: haven't you ever wanted to hit me.. even a little?
Fenris: yes
Anders: yes
Isabela: I wasn't asking you two!

But yeah I did a bro!fenris play where I romanced isabela. Her romance is sweet but left me wanting more. Her dialogue is great though. I really appreciate her a bit more.
I take Fenris everywhere even though I've heard his banter and dialogue a million times he still makes me smile. Even his cutscenes I find something new and intriguing every time. I have been meaning to do another PT but I've been watching anime, drawing, and doing RL stuff. Still im getting withdrawls. Lol.

Oh, I certainly agree that any Hawke who does that deserves a lot of anger - but Anders deserves it too. And yes, Fenris would likely agree if Hawke wanted to turn Anders and Merrill over. The difference being, Fenris never suggests that mages should be free, and then turns around and does something contrary to that. He's constant.
Anders, on the other hand, even pitches the case to Fenris that he should want to help mages because they're not free, like slaves (even though there are a number of differences between the mage situation and slavery), and despises slavery, and then turns around and approves selling Fenris back into slavery.
That is the difference. Fenris is not a hypocrite (edit: I should say - isn't a hypocrite about that). He always thinks Anders and Merrill should be locked up, he simply doesn't act out of respect for Hawke's wishes. Anders, on the other hand, says one thing and then does another when it comes to someone he hates.

Well I am glad the insomnia is working in someones favour.
Is her Legacy romance dialogue any good or change per second or third act? I am just going to cheat and go backwards on one of my Fenris romances.
Friera: Don't take it as the gospel truth but I am pretty sure it is for romances Izzy, Act III, No Rest for the Wicked.

Which quest? Which act?Sounds hillarious. I never got that one, and I played it 3 times...
That quest in Act 3, when you help Issie lured Costello out by turn her in to one of his best comrade. The comrade in question was in the brothel. So you went to the brothel with her and if you take Fenris/Anders/Varric with ya, that conversation would triggered nicely.
I had never romanced Issie, but I haven't failed to trigger that conversation so far. Perhaps hight Friendship rate help?
Don't bother bringing Bastie, I don't recall he actually said anything. Perhaps my memory served me wrong.

I hope this is a rumour like; the purple teletubbie being gay, is a rumour. Actually I accept, as long as it has nothing to do with Sebastian. I already got my fill of religious side character DLC with Leliana. plzthnx. Seriously though, Bioware wouldn't be so cruel as to leave us hanging with both romancable elves. If so I need to get a new "type". The elf lovers are getting the shaft.

I actually don't mind having that as DLC. Am very curious to see how they going to do it if Bastie left my party at the end of the game. Am I going to confront him should I go there?
But...that's another topic.

No need to romance isabela to get that quest. You just have to keep her in act 3. To keep her you have to have high friend or rival anyways. You don't need the romance though.
As for rumors.. bleh ill believe it when I see it. Though seriously.. going to wait till doomsday for the legacy banter. No Fenris love makes me sad and I have my legacy people on hold so far.
