Marsters is actually American and based his British accent off of Anthony Head's(Giles) RL accent. (That of Camden in London
An Asian accent would be interesting...Kaneshiro Takeshi would be pretty fabulous, I've liked him since he did Onimusha back in 2001.

I do, but if I was going to wish for a True Blood actor to VO a character it would definitely be Allan Hyde.

Maybe that's an unfair comparison
edit: Lol, O'Hare really freaked me out in TB. Idk why... he just did.

Godric!
And Denis O'Hare was delightfully entertaining.

I did heart Godric, but his voice wasn't as swoon worthy as Eric's! Smooth and nice, but not deep and sezzy. ;P

For a Japanese version, I couldn't picture anyone else but Ryataro Okiayu (in his stoic Byakuya voice) for Fenris..Hooooooot.

David Tannant?
When I read that for the first time, I actually let out a sigh of longing so profound that my husband came over and asked if I was alright.
That said, I've sort of been imagining Fenris with a slavic accent of some sort. Although who it could possibly be is beoynd me. I haven't the faintest idea who 95% of those offered up as candidates even are.

For the bolded--it's already been done. See Mass Effect 2 and Samara. Very pretty face, and absolutely not interested in Shepard. It was awesome, but I wouldn't want DA2 to do that. Maybe DA3. Then again, I doubt Wesley or Carver--though both very handsome--are going to be interested in Hawke at all, so we've already got two gorgeous guys who are registering a great big "no" on the sexometer.Calla S wrote...

(and I'll probably get the rack for saying this, but oh well), I really
hope he's not an LI. Even if a character is attractive, that shouldn't
automatically put him in a position to be romanced, so to speak. It'd be
refreshing to have a pretty face that just wasn't interested.
Frustrating for some, sure, but refreshing. And I imagine it'd work for
his character, too, considering David Gaider's writing him.
Does anybody seriously still want to give up on Fenris being an LI now?! Who do you expect us to romance? Maybe Varric, but what about those of us who can't learn to live with that much chest hair? You wouldn't really want to condemn us to LI-lessness, would you? Would you? Think of the fangirls!

Fenris has all of the makings of an LI. It's possible that they may deviate from the standard male love interest formula and not make him one, but that's unlikely given the track record.

I wouldn't go as far to say that Samara was absolutely not interested considering if you prod her enough you'll eventually end up with a scene of Samara holding Shepards hands and going in for a kiss, stopping inches away. Samara seems so impacted by this, she even leaves the room (OH MY GOD A CHARACTER ACTUALLY MOVED FROM THEIR DESIGNATED POSITION).
Also Varrics chest hair is the least of my problem. I've just never been the type to fall for men that probably stand to about the height my hips.

I suddenly see the appeal of a dwarven love interest.

Oh. It seems I posted too soon about the whole pain thing. Well... awesome! Thank you for telling us that--and for not telling us too much. I love a bit of spoiling, but I wouldn't want to feel like I figured out everything about him before I play the game. That wouldn't be fun.David Gaider wrote...
* I wouldn't make too big a deal of his
touch-causes-pain thing. It's more of an aversion than actual physical
agony. You'll see when you play, though honestly he doesn't dwell on it
at all. It's not central to his story.
* Regardless of what his
story involves, I'm sure you'll find Fenris fun. Just like Varric. Let's
all just get along and not stake out imaginary territory, shall we?
That would be swell.
Sorry that we speculate so much. It's just fun to let one's imagination run wild a little bit. I'm not actually assuming anything, though.

Fenris: I do not look like him.
Hawke: Well, you have lighter hair with darker skin.
Fenris: My skin is not dark.
Isabela: And you're an elf! All you elves look alike to me.
Fenris: That's ridiculous.
Isabela: Where it counts, anyhow.
Fenris: Do I want to even ask what that means?
Varric: I wouldn't.
Hawke: Of course you would.
Varric: It's true. I'm a weak, weak man.
I love that he seems very sensible. I like that type of person.
*hugs* I'm sorry about your dad.maselphie wrote...
As
someone who has watched her own father never recover from losing his
wife, I think I might be personally be unattracted to this trope more
than normal. Maybe, I dunno. I do still think, in general, a lack of
closure with previous lovers leads to the feeling of the guy loving two
people at once. Being dead means lack of closure, unfortunately ...
I'm
purposely avoiding fangirlling over Fenris at the moment because I was
burned by Thane. =P But I'm basically lying to myself when I say I'm not
excited as hell. I'd probably get over him not being an LI, because he
is just plain cool, but it makes me wonder who WOULD be a LI, if not
smexy elf man. I almost don't want there to be another option, because
my brain can't fathom someone cooler. And if allowed only one male LI,
it would have to be a human ... logically, right? A "vanilla" option.
Like Jacob was supposed to be in ME2. His romance felt tacked on, like
it felt that it HAD to be there, because the other two options were
aliens. So I have a feeling there will be a human LI, but I just hope
he's not the only one (and if there isn't a human LI, I applaud you
Bioware) and isn't just a boytoy/piece of meat write-in to appease the
girls. Meaning, I would rather Gaider wrote him too
Me, the reason I'm studying psych is that I've always been the type to listen to others' problems and try to help them figure things out, so I have seen what works and what doesn't. Relationships born out of cheating, for instance, don't work. And rebounds definitely don't, either. I think that's why it's important to me, too--it makes me feel disturbed to think of doing something as unhealthy as getting close to someone who's intensely vulnerable and might go farther than they want to emotionally and/or physically. That's not the way to form a lasting bond.
I definitely agree about having a hard time fathoming someone cooler for an LI than Fenris!
I'm pretty hopeful about Fenris being an LI, and I can't imagine a better choice than him based on what little we know so far, but I too am trying not to assume. I prefer pessimism, as optimists can't be pleasantly surprised.
I totally agree about Nathaniel too, btw. Anders could happen, he was great fun, but with Nathaniel--well, maybe they could build it up another way, but with the Warden there was already such a great hook in place. Hard to top that. Wish I could remember who linked me to this, but here's a good fanfic exploration of that missed chance with a Cousland. It's a WIP, but already has a lot of chapters, and it's quite well-written.
Me too. When I was playing Alpha Protocol, there was this cokehead mob boss with a Russian accent who says the f-word a lot, and I... aww, I feel stupid.Tamyn wrote...

*lol* Yeah, I like Cam Clarke, but for some reason his voice doesn't make me go all "mmm, sexy." He really made me laugh as Heren, though. Seriously, those two cracked me up. That was like the best in-joke ever. I was so delighted when they popped up in Awakening.Pseudocognition wrote...
@ACWolfe: I can't hear Cam Clarke
without thinking of shirtless men brawling on top of a bipedal tank.
MGS was my first Cam Clarke experience and the ham is strong with that
one.
Well, no, of course not... I only meant, y'know, we have four male characters so far and two of them are very cute but utterly unavailable, and one of them is a dwarf, so I'm really not expecting two new reveals that turn out to be LIs for females. Fenris... he almost has to be an LI, because Wesley is married and Carver is your brother.Lucy_Glitter wrote...
Um, well definitely not Carver
That leaves only Varric and Fenris, and I think Fenris is most likely of the two to be an LI. I can't really imagine him not being one when ya really break it down like that.

Le gasp, maybe it's Alexander Skarsgaard voicing Fenris! *teehee*
*swoons*
I've never heard him with his native accent... He must hide it in interviews to sound more American or he's lost it somewhat.
He doesn't have much of a accent, he talks like Eric, so no hiding (fitting since they're both from Sweden). I'm guessing it has something to do with his dad being pretty big in Hollywood and some Swedish interviews said something about working with coaches to train the "Swede" out of his speech in order to land bigger parts in movies and such..
I would love Nathan Fillion to voice Fenris too but he doesn't have much of a accent. Which should be a good thing or I would never stop trying to start a conversation with Fenris.
