Prompt time.

Taint

Warden's Prison, Vinmark Mountains

Fenris: I hear that your cousin is also a Grey Warden.

Bethany: Not just a Warden, She's a Commander of the Grey in Amaranthine, and Hero of Ferelden.

Fenris: It would seem then that heroism runs in your family then. Perhaps one day the bards will sing of your exploits.

Bethany: I doubt that, I don't think I'll be facing down an Archdemon anytime soon, besides no fancy title is worth that trouble.

Hawke: Would you like my title? You can have it if you like.

Bethany: You sound a little too willing sister.

Hawke: It's just what you always wanted! You get to go to fancy parties, wear Orlesian silk dresses...

Fenris: Kill a High Dragon on the outskirts of the city. Play nanny for the Knight-Commander and First-Enchanter...

Isabela: ...and Maker does it do a number on your love live. With all that's been going on I can see why Hawke's been cranky lately.

Bethany: I didn't need to hear that.

Hawke: I'm not cranky!

Isabela: That sound like frustration caused by a lack of a certain something to me.

Hawke: Isabela!

Fenris: You're lucky.

Bethany: Why's that?

Fenris: Dealing with the Darkspawn and the Taint is much easier than dealing with this on a daily basis.

Bethany: (giggles)

Fenris: I'm not joking

He one-shotted my mage Hawke the first time I did that quest. Since then, I hit him with a Petrify at the beginning of the fight, deal with the demon, then take care of Fenris. My typical party is Isabela, Fenris, and Anders, so I have Justice there too; one of the rare instances when I actually like having him around.

I always talk to Torpor and off Anders - or actually, Fenris offs Anders for me. He one-shots Anders quite nicely . . . and then I generally do the Desire demon, and lose Isabela (I always take her, I can't miss the 'big boats' line!), and then go and do Wryme with just Fenris and myself. And yeah, as someone said earlier, Cone of Cold works great against Fenris. I don't bother to move away, I just throw that out the second he turns hostile, and one-shot HIM. Or use Twin Fangs or Assassinate, on my rogues.

If he got the first hit in, I'm sure he'd oneshot me, but I try to make sure that doesn't happen. ;)

Greetings, all. I come with a question: What have you guys speculated Fenris was hoping was in the chest during the Bait and Switch quest?

Working on a fic now, and doing some long range planning. I'm pretty sure this came up as a topic at least once and I'm hoping to pick your brains for opinions. Thanks!

It will forever bother me that he never elaborates on that box. :( If I ever get a chance to ask Mr  Gaider a question it will be the first haha.

Oooo not the box again... that thing will torture me until the day I die I think. Okay maybe not, but still a source of frustration.
I will quote myself from waaaaayyyy back (about a month ago) from our last box conversation.

Also, the box.. the best description we have is that it was "lyrium" from Anso. Of course most people assume that is a lie and what was really in the box is a trap, but Fenris was lured to it because he thought it was something more. That something being the ever present mystery.

In my personal opinion it was either information about Danarius coming to Kirkwall and where he was hiding (which Fenris found on the dead guard anyways) or something about his past that was "leaked" for him to be interested in. It could be information on how he was being tracked by Danarius, something about recovering his memories, even something about his real name and personal history. Even if it was documents or something he would be tempted to find these things and just have someone read them to him (willing or no, lol). Yet Fenris being Fenris realizes it is just a trap, looks mildly disappointed but not surprised and forgets all about it.

Meanwhile Hawke is like.. but... what were you expecting? telll meeeeee

Hawke: so what were you expecting to find in the box?

Fenris: It was a trap, nothing more.

Hawke: but.. but...

Fenris: It is not important. The chest was empty.

Hawke: but.. I HAVE to know what you thought it was! It's killing me not to know!

Fenris: It's been almost 10 years Hawke. I can't believe you still remember that. How is it still bothering you after all this time?

Hawke: It drives me mad! I keep thinking about that day, and your face, and how you were so disappointed. What did you hope to find? tell meeee.

Fenris: I don't remember now...

Hawke: what? seriously? YOU ALWAYS say that.

Fenris: It is the truth. It was not important. I don't really remember. Leave it be, Hawke.

Hawke: HmfpH! Fine. Don't tell me. I'll learn your secrets! Just you wait! (leaves in a huff)

Fenris: (under his breath) I don't think the "don't remember" excuse is going to work much longer... hmm. Must think of something else.

Stupid box

I don't rock the earth/lightning tree till way at the end of act 2/begining of act 3 on my mage, so I don't have petrify that early in. I go full Primal, then take the weapon enchant sustain, Mindblast, and Crushing Prison, and full Force Mage so I can shut down the waves and Fireball/Firestorm my little heart out. then I throw one point into Spirit Healer for the regen ;p

I like to "betray" Anders to torpor, mostly just for the "Prig" line. I always double cross torpor afterwards, because my mage (and my rogue, and my warrior) is better then that (and Anders is my mage's bestiest best best guy-friend evar, and my rogue's boyfriend) and its so worth it for the 5 points of friendship and then 10 points of rivarly from Fenris

Actually the only one who Friend's Fenris anymore is My warrior, and that's because she Rivals Anders

I go Anders (down to Torpor), Bela, and then Fenris. Just take off his fancy sword and his %damage rings and DLC necklace. He gets the default sword and then I CP him and ignore him while I throw ice and fire at the big guy and his archer minion ;p If he's still alive when the others are dead, I just staff him once  and go collect my prizzzeeee of getting to beat up Torpor :P

Once I let Fenris actually win the fight. Was quite hilarious.

@Dr. Doctor That's damn fine piece of banter right there!

The box contains a bright shiny MacGuffin ;)

Seriously, I always assumed Fenris thought it had information about his past in it.  Papers perhaps?

On monogomy - yes I am in games.  I find an LI I like and have problems finishing runs with anyone else.  Fenris is my guy in DA2, Zev for DAO, Kaidan in ME's.  If I mix it up I tend not to be able to finish the runs.  I'm odd I know.

Oh and /wave Fenris fans, long time no post :wizard:

That's what I thought, it must be papers, until later when Fenris says he can't read.  We need a DLC explaining what Fenris thinks is in the box!:o:D
As for game monogomy, in some games yes in others no.  And since I play both male and female characters usually I end up trying different romances.  But with some games I tend to love some romances better than others...in DA2  my F!Hawke it's Fenris and my male Hawke it's Merrill.  In Origins my favourite romance was Morrigan, then Zervan for his growth in the romance.  Alistair had a good romance too.

Wait, what happens?  I've never dealt with Torpor.  Fenris offs Anders...I missed that.  Mmmm, maybe I can find a game to load with the fade scenes again.

To chime in on that romance thing. I've not been able to do any other romance besides Fenris on my FemHawkes. I have 6 playthroughs... well.. 7 now since I started this one.

I knew immediately when I saw the character I wasn't going to go back on my decision, LOL. In origins as well I didn't want any other romance except Alistair's. I know.. Zevran.. I loved him and his story but he wasn't the one that "got" me.

On my one male Hawke I romanced Isabela. To quote Fenris... "it was.. fine," but didn't have that satisfaction that the Fenris romance does. I've watched all of Anders' romance on YouTube, but I still can't seem to go through with it. I keep telling myself "one day.. one day..."

So yeah you could say when it comes to Dragon Age I'm pretty monogamous too, LOL.

Not me. I usually get torn between two of the LIs. In ME that's Garrus and Kaidan. DA:O, Alistair and Zev. DA2, Fenris and Anders.

DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!

Alrighty, thank you anyway. I knew it was a long shot, but I figured I'd ask. The point might not even come up in my fic anyway, so we'll see what I decide to do when the time comes.

Speaking of fic, dos anyone have an recommendations from places like ff.net, the kmeme or ao3?

I have one Hawke JUST for Anders. Angelica Hawke, Kind Hearted Scoundral. And she also happens to be the only one who kills him. Because she knows at that point there's no saving him, no matter how badly she wants to... and she loves him enough that she'd never allow anyone else to kill him. ;p

I have TWO seperate Hawkes for Fenris. My Rivalmance Mage (and most favorite), Angel, and my Friendmance Pro-Circle (not pro-templar)Warrior, Ansya.

My Rik Hawke has the hots for Isabela.

I .. can't bring myself to romance Merrill... it.. it feels like dating your younger sister. Bluh.

That way, I never have to CHOOSEEEEEE. I have a Hawke for every flavor, and two for Fenris <3

I happen to have romanced Anders 2 times more than Fenris. Reason being the comfort Anders gives you when your mother dies is possibly the best of all the companions, Isabela as second.

Though Fenris comfort fits him. I would have said out loud "Are you getting soft?" had he started talking about hugs and stuff.

I love Fenris' attempt to offer comfort, because it's so realistic. What do you say in that situation? What do you say to the person you're in love with to the point where it freaked you out and you ran away? What do you say if you're not exactly someone who's comfortable dealing with emotions? Fenris' response was spot on, to me.

Julian, my mage Hawke, has an affinity for lightning, so I always max him out on Primal first, followed by Elemental and Force Mage; the running joke in RP and fic is that unless you're seriously about to die, you don't want him to heal you.

Despite being a mage, Julian always friendmances Fenris. The first time through, it was totally by accident; his hatred for slavers outweighed his being nice to mages. In my current playthrough, I've cheated a little by using Xatmos' party swap mod to rearrange my party on the fly. The results have been amusing. Anders was locked into 100% friendship by the time he came over only to get dumped when he started insulting Fenris.

This is exactly how I feel about it, too. She needs him and he's there, even if he doesn't know what to offer beyond just being there. I don't think there was ever any question in his mind whether he should go to her or not. This scene had a big influence on how I head cannon their relationship during the gap.

I completely agree about the Fenris dialogue after Leandra. In fact I find it exactly what my Hawkes want to hear most of the time. They don't want "sorry for your loss," and explanations of why's and platitudes. They just want someone there. Someone they care about.

When he says: "To be honest I don't see much point in filling these moments with idle talk." I completely agree. When a tragic event like that occurs there really isn't anything to say. It is just enough to know that he comes by and tries. That is enough for my Hawkes.

Hey everyone! I lurk around this thread at least twice a day...or more and never actually post anything so...yeah. Here's the link to a video I made about Fenris: www.youtube.com/watch and I'd like some constructive criticism about it and where better to go for that then here. Also, I have to thank someone on here for giving me a VAST obsession. They suggusted that the song "Flames" would go well with the Fenris romance so I listened to it and it goes extremely well, but now I'm addicted to VAST. Not that I'm complaining.;)

This, times about 1000. When I was in this place (lost my mother, and powerless to do anything about it  - cancer sucks) three years ago, this is at least some of the comfort I drew from my loved ones who could just help by being there, especially my husband. There was nothing anyone could really say, other than "I'm here if you need me." Not that I didn't appreciate others' attempts to say something, but there's nothing you really can say sometimes.

Leandra's death brought me to tears the first couple of times I saw it, and I was LI-less the first time. Fenris's 'comfort' scene really resonated with me. *shrug*

I like Fenris' response to All That Remains and Isabela's response. Fenris for the reason quoted above, I like Isabela's just because it shows her undergoing a little character development, plus the whole awkward 'I know you're not good at emotional  things' line from Hawke is great.

EEEEEEEEEthatwasmeEEEEEEEEE!!!!  Glad to spread some VAST love, they are amazing!  <3<3<3

I like the video and of course the choice of music is lovely.  There can never be enough Fenris videos.

EDIT: While we're on the subject, this song by another highly underrated band makes me think of the scene after "Alone" when Hawke and Fenris finally sort everything out.  It's absolutely adorable. ^_^
