I'm back baby!

...sooo my old laptop went off and died somewhere alone. Taking away all my Dragon Age progress with it. Bad news, having to start all my campaigns over again. Good news, romancing Alistair and Fenris all over again. But I just want to bloody finish Act 3 and play Legacy now >>

Also, when the hell did Anders become ****ty? I remember liking him during my first playthrough. Now, he is such a hypocritical douche that is bagging on all my friends. Actually went off my usual "bring healer" plan and just went Varric-Aveline-Fenris now.

LOL, in Act 3 Anders can be a bit overwhelming with his banter. I seem to have this love/hate relationship with him.. well not so much hate... sudden dislike might be more correct?

It is horrible to lose a save. I've had it happen many a time and most of the time I don't go back and replay the game. I once had all the achievements and unlocks in a game and the PC crashed and I had to reformat. Then I was so peeved at all that work gone I just said "Forget it!" and uninstalled the game never to be played again.

With Dragon Age though I don't really get tired of the story. I took a break from it and got withdrawls so now I'm doing another DA2 PT with another (count them 3 now) mage and another (like 5th) friendmance with Fenris. I don't even know... and am beyond caring at this point. Still laughing like a fool and having mad fun with it too. Least *I* got my money's worth out of it, LOL.

I would replay DA:O as well. Alistair withdrawls haunted me a bit, but sometimes in DA:O I get bogged down with the side quests and just want to move on to the grand finale big war archdemon showdown. It is almost hard for me to care about side-quests when the blight is threatening the world and I'm the one solely responsible for gathering an army. It's like "wait, why do I care to go find your lost who-do-whatsit?"

Oh, and Ursula I sent you a PM about your fic. Feel free to email me or whatnots, however you want to handle it.

Been spending some time in the kink_meme ... seriously, this is extremely out of character for me. I don't read fanfiction. I don't read even romance novels. In fact, I hate romance novels. I don't write fanfiction. I don't even.... and here I was filling a prompt on a kink_meme. I was writing smut and I was facepalming like "oh god, this is a new low."

I think Alistair really is a gateway drug....

Replied, thank you, and yes, I agree. (Alistair was mine, anyway...) He leads to Fenris, and Garrus, and...contemplating Zevran, and...

I survived Irine with only 24 hours worth of no power! Horaay!

*cough*

I feel your pain on the fan fiction, Arquen, I do. I'm a writer by nature, not that you could tell with my atrocious spelling and grammar, but I've never been one for FanFiction till this stupid game came out. Now I'm hip-deep in two stories, one of which I'll probably never finish, and the other I'm being extra pokey about because every time I get a chance to write (see, yesterday morning before our power went off) something unexpected happens ;p

and Alistair is totally a gateway drug, which has me wondering now why I'm writing a story about Zevran instead. Hmmmmm....

I have a wonder, one I think I have brought up before, though it was quite some time ago and failed to provoke discussion, as I recall.  If there was a big discussion about this and I have missed it, could someone please link back to the pages, if they have them?

Anyway, what I'm wondering about is how Fenris would react to the discovery that Hawke, particularly one he was romantically involved with, is a bloodmage.  I know they couldn't implement companion reactions to your specialty classes because of game mechanics, but given how anti-bloodmage both the male LIs are, I would find it fascinating to see how the writers would have handled the conflicts that could have arisen within those relationships.  Failing that, speculation about how they might have handled it would be equally as fascinating.  Any opinions?

Personally, I can't see Fenris putting up with a blood mage at all. At least not well. Especially considering how he reacts to Merrill. Merrill is pretty much only a danger to herself before The Keeper steps in, and yet Fenris treats her, continually, as if she were nothing more then a stupid child playing with things she doesn't understand.

That being said, a relationship with a Blood Mage Hawke would be utterly devistatingly unhealthy for him. So, I'm not intirely sure if it wouldn't just be a crisis point for him, much like how taking torpor's offer is for Anders.

;p

So...is it bad if I'm repeatedly poking Fenris to get him to say his husky "I enjoy following you" and "I'm yours"...?

Is it bad if I've saved at certain points in the game before his scenes are triggered just so that I can watch them over and over again?

I think I've got a bad case of Fenrismania ... not only that, but I found myself writing a fill on kinkmeme. I've lost my mind and it's not coming back (just like when I first met Alistair).

I've done this one time with my horrible excuse for a human being Hawke. She is a bloodmage.

The only way I see it working is a rivalmance. Also, it appeals to the more unhealthy side of Fenris' personality which is his slave and follower mentality. He will think Merrill is foolish. He will call her all kinds of names. He will hate her completely, but he will also watch her and keep his distance, but not outright try to kill her or anything. In Legacy he remarks "so, still not an abomination yet..."

Hawke can be a strong bloodmage. She/He would have to be in order to get Fenris under their thumb so to speak. This is an incredibly unhealthy relationship that may or may not have a future but I played it like Fenris is more trapped with Hawke and feels like they are his best chance. In the meanwhile Hawke is flirting and taking care of business. He owes Hawke more and more and after Hadrianna he is especially conflicted since his hate is what drove him to betray his morals. This is a perfect time for a bloodmage Hawke to take advantage.

The three year gap becomes the thing. Would Fenris return to a bloodmage Hawke? Hmmm. I think the only way this works is if he can't fathom a future without Hawke around to help him. In essence he asks Hawke for their opinions and doesn't really get out of that follower personality. Hawke becomes a surrogate master type for him, and doesn't really support him in being independent. Taking a more direct approach in telling him what he should do instead of leaving it up to him.

It may not be intentional on Hawke's part, but being a bloodmage you either believe that mages can do whatever the hell they want. Or you believe YOU can do whatever the hell you want because you are special. I think you can convince Fenris of the latter, but not the former, and it takes manipulation. Especially of his hate. Convince him that his hate of magisters and blood magic should be focused on Danarius and Hadrianna. Convince him that Hawke only uses blood magic to fight fire with fire and still is cautious, would never hurt an innocent, doesn't desire power, but takes advantage of it in the same way Fenris takes advantage of his markings.

You can even roleplay it like Hawke would make it Fenris' duty to kill him/her if they became an abomination, but the bloodmagic was learned a long time ago and it is to late to change the course now.

As said it isn't the healthiest of relationships, but I think it can be done.

I played a diplomatic Bloodmage for my most recent play-through, I was never sure if he was really that brilliant/lucky/helpful that the characters that should have disapproved either didn't know or believed him when he said he could control it or he was, in reality, extremely crafty and manipulative.
Either way he creeped me out earning Fenris' friendship despite all that (actually friend-romanced Anders with him; trolololo, every time Anders gets all touched that Hawke believed in him I imagined him turning around and thinking 'yeah the -bloodmage- approves! FML') I ended up roleplaying it in my head where this Hawke learned Bloodmagic from Merrill so never spoke to a demon himself and insisted he would only ever use his own blood (which turned out to become a lie in act 2) even then I'd only expect Fenris to swallow that if he only found out about Hawke's blood magic late in the story and, as Arquen suggested, by then he was too deep into relying on Hawke to take much of a stand.

Someone wrote a fic with a rivalmanced bloodmage Hawke and if I ever find it again I'll link it casue from what I remember it was really well done. Personally I don't see him being with a bloodmage unless he is being manipulated. His "Hawke is the bestest" has to be over the moon. He friendmanced my bloodmage cuse he was very antimage so that helps.

OMG, I am going into fic withdrawl. I think this is the longest Coffee, Black has ever gone without an update and I am driving the bf crazy checking it every hour!

To be fair, there was a hurrcane that just swept up the east coast of the US. The Author may be from there, possibly, and then they could be with out power. I didn't expect to get power back as fast as I did, and most of my state's still out.. so, yea ;p

I don't suppose it was this one? http://www.fanfictio...1/Little_Pieces "Little pieces". I know there's at least one chapter in that with a bloodmage-Hawke, and the whole thing is wonderfully done...

Those comics are hilarious! Thank you for sharing them!
Regarding Fenris - I must say that the voice actor is incredibly attractive as well :innocent:

Chapter 9: Bloody Hands...

It is very well done, and akin to how I played my bloodmage except my mage was more aggressive and snarky. Plus she really didn't have reservations about using her blood magic. Still, I imagine her and Fenris nearly coming to blows or definitely coming to a few altercations at least on differences of opinion, LOL.

Rivalry angsty goodness.

It's in a crate in the 'secret meeting place' of Best Served Cold (act III); I don't exactly remember where, but I've found it every game.

Is it an inventory thing? The first one, or the warehouse?

It is an inventory item once you pick it up, not an actual weapon (until you give it to Fenris). I *think* it's the warehouse, but it's been a while since I've done that quest so I'm not 100% sure.

It is in the warehouse. In a crate/chest up against the wall in the big open "main" area. Over by a bunch of crates or barrels or somesuch in a corner.

YOu should get a quest in your journal under Companions when you get it. It'll say something about Fenris being possibly interested in the Sword of Mercy.
