Yes, but it's a really evil expression. Whatever you guys have been reading, I just don't think I can do right now. I'm already way too caught up. There's only so many damned hours in the day, and my boyfriend will kill me. Arquen, I too was his the moment he punched through that guard who comes staggering around the corner, then Fenris comes striding around and says "You're men are dead and your trap has failed," that was it for me.

I think that's where he got a bunch of us. :)

Yes, but the rest of me is still pretty darn sore. Hopefully I'll at least be back to typing normally next week if all goes well and I get a smaller cast/splint.

Thanks! :)

(Why is it that NOW I feel like I could write 2 or 3 chapters if I could type with both hands...*Sigh*)

It's the pain meds telling you lies Ursula -- LOL. I wouldn't try to type with one hand. Not a huge fic anyways. That is madness.

I particularly like evil/smirky Fenris. On a rivalmance the angry faces he makes are just so good. I kind of loved trolling him on my rival mage. Just because he does *angry* so well. Also, because despite him being angry and making faces at my Hawke he still cares for her and I get plenty of puppy eyes on the rivalmance. Plus the ending is fantastic either way you go.

but come on .. how can you not love Festis bei umo canavarum! ?

I dunno, there's some real lovely faces he makes on friendmance. Also, totally don't type with one boo-boo hand, we don't want you to get more hurt. Instead, pencle it out in a notebook or something so you dont lose the inspiration till you're better.

SEE LOOK, WONDERFUL FASE VVV

Is FF13 any good?  I sort got off the FF band wagon after FFX-2.  I wasn't to keen on it.

It's not bad. The story line is a bit hard to grasp the first time you play(I've played up to one particular boss fight 3 times by now, so I have at least part of the story pretty square). THe bosses can be very difficult, but it's, so far, not a bad game. I'm trying to beat it at least once before FF13-2 comes out in January.

I got into a really horrible bike wreck on the way to the first day of the semester. Broke my arm in 2 places (one for sure and one highly likely but getting rechecked next week) and am lucky I didn't break my jaw (which hit the pavement) or get a concussion. WEar your helmets! ;) :police:

Also, Fenris. (courtesy of Breogan :) )

Dear Ursula.

I had a concussion for the first time in my life in March of this year. It was truly horrible. I'm glad you didn't get more hurt than you did of course, and please get better soon.

To everyone, all of these screenshots and artwork are really great. Real treat on the eyes :-).

Good evening, everyone. Just drop by and let you guys know since there are literally no prompt entry for the past week. I am planning to extend them for another week. Also, anyone know what happened to Dr. Doctor? He really haven't been here for over a week now. Started to worry.

It's hard for me to remember all the nuances and differences between the rivalmance and the friendmance when it comes to Fenspressions. Much of the expressions and dialogue is the same actually. Still get the puppy eyes and smiles and drunk!Fenris.

The main differences are post Hadrianna and the act 3 post Danarius scene. I love the friendmance above all else, but in the rivalmance there are scenes and faces I just adore.

The one in Act 2 where he talks about "This HATE..." The animation is different on rival (maybe its the dialogue choice), but where he looks down and gestures with his hands. I love the emotion in that.

See:

In act 2 as well post Hadrianna the "we don't always see eye to eye..."

Posted Image

Also, where he asks you to find Varania -- the whole "I need someone who can fight to back me up.."
Posted Image

And, bestest of all in Act 3 -- "Yet I respect you.. clearly you are doing something right. Perhaps you see what I cannot.." <-- one of my favorite pieces of dialogue ever.

So yeah the rivalmance grew on me. I didn't want to do it at first, but after I did it I really found it to be very satisfying.

My Fenris album on photobucket has gotten over 2000 views *shifty eyes* apparently people like my screenies. Muahaha.

You have great screenshots. I meant to say so before. I love the part where he sort of sits back in his chair, shakes neck and shoulders a bit and says "the anniversary of my escape," in a drunken way. It was very well coordinated with the voice acting too. And it gets me all cuddly cuddly feeling, and again just makes me want to do anything Fenris wants me to. Yes, anything. Anything at all.

I'm going to probably need some of these to refer to, to get my own digital image going. all I need to do now, is get all the necessary software going on this computer, it's relatively new.

Okay, on that last screenshot I was thinking "You have pretty eyes...." and then I cracked up thinking about "I .. have.. pretty eyes?" -- Love that banter.

If you need reference pics let me know mcilhany. My photobucket is HERE. Has some good ones.

I was thinking about that banter as well. In both Rivalry and Friendship Fenris asks your opinion on what he should do. On my rival path I was more apt to tell him what he should do. He thinks about it. On my friendship path I just sort of go "what do any of us do?" path and let him kind of figure it out for himself. I think in the end I like that way better. Having him go "but what's important now is moving forward... the future of a slave is never uncertain, but I am no longer a slave. Perhaps it is time I remembered that." It's a very telling statement about how far he has come.

Though on Rivalry you get the whole "Maybe it is time to leave this hatred behind.." and "There is no one left to blame, what I have done I have done to myself." Still in both instances these are conclusions he comes to on his own. He merely asks Hawke's opinon on the future and what he should do now. I think people underestimate how far in thinking he actually comes without Hawke having to do anything except be there as a friend. Even on rivalry he says "I've always considered you a friend." There is so much in that Act 3 scene. It is my absolute favorite.

Arquen, don't worry, I believe you. With Heid-denn's help and with your inspiration, maybe I can do it. I too love the "I...have...pretty...eyes." talk with him and Isabella. I'd be jealous of Isabella and Fenris who seem to like each other, if Isabella wasn't so damned sweet herself. I want her to be happy.

And, I think Fenris wants Hawke. No matter what. Thaats why he stays in Hightown. Thaats why he stays period. He inevitably will reject Isabella no matter what. But she'll find someone. She doesn't seem to have too much trouble in that area. If Hawke is not romancing Fenris, he may imply he wants to have a fling with Isabella. But I don't think it's too much more than that. He wants a "purer" type of love. But definitely not Sebastian pure, which is outright celibacy, and, is a little over the top.

I love Heiden's insight that Fenris wants to know more of his past so that he can feel worthy of Hawke. I really like that.

Oh, and Arquen...I think I may be in love with you. So strange, because... I've never had these kinds of feelings for another woman before. And it may serve to explain prior...transgressions on my part before. I love how our avatars appear like they are conversing as if out of Disciples, one of my favorite games of all time.

Ok your photobucket - "swoon"

some of the best shots I've seen of Mr Broody himself.  Have I mentioned I LOVE Fenris lately?  LOVE him.  <3
And I agree that he really does start to figure out his life and his decisions.

And mcilhany - I always thought that he was "trying to make himself better" for Hawke!

Okay, Totally off topic, I know, but I found this on my Dashboard, and needed to share it with all my fen-friends here. Apparently, Westboro Baptist Church decided to go to Long Beach California. You have to see what happens:

@mcil: LOL, not sure if I should be creeped out or not? Umm, guess that is a long way from first impressions?

Thanks for comments on my photobucket. I promise one day I will add in my other screenshots, but so far it's been all Fenris. Totally not on purpose!

Going back to work, bleh. Just wanted to stop in and check on the thread. I'm currently in the middle of fleshing out a fic with a rivalmance Hawke. As much as I love the rivalmance sometimes I find it a bit... melodramatic? Over-dramatic? What is the word I'm looking for...

Personally I believe Fenris will never be 100% free of his hatred for magic and mages. That will always be a part of him. Yet he can side with the mages. Of course he still thinks it is a mistake, but does it more for Hawke and his loyalty to them. So my thought process goes along the lines of how this argument actually goes on. If Hawke actually sits there and confronts Fenris with a mages argument. Would Fenris get angry? Back off? Think it over? I see it one way in my head, but just wondering opinions.

It seems in all the conversations and especially banters it gets JUST so close to some kind of resolution or all out discussion and then dissolves and the cutscene ends. As much as I've pondered this sometimes I still come up blank on what he would actually do if Hawke really was like Anders in his/her extremism. Would it even work? -- AND FULL STOP ON ANY FENDERS TALK RIGHT NOW! :P

See, my Angel is just that.. fanatic, about Mage freedom. Mind you, she wasn't until she met Anders, and head canon has her sitting on Anders desk in the early years of Kirkwall, just talking and talking with him about mage freedom and telling stories of her father and..

See, this is why in my head-canon Anders is over the top jealous of Fenris, because even though she and Anders are like, bff on crack, beyond initial intrest, she just .. gravitates towards Fenris, and it drives him insane.

I could see that so clearly in my head.

Fenris: Why are you even talking to him?
Anders: Because she cares what happens to mages. She has an open mind.
Fenris: @#$% you!
Anders: @#$% you, too!
Angel: Boys, boys... Will you grow up, already?

I have yet to do a Rivmance with Fenris.  I always end up in a Friendmance with him.   It's the eyes I just can't seem to Rivalry him.;)  But I do like how much Fenris grows as a character in DA2, he is "finding" himself or should that be defining himself as Fenris, a free individual.  I enjoy watching that process.  It's one of the ways the timeline works.  Because such character building won't happen overnight.  Even when my Hawke isn't in a romance with him it's nice to have him as a friend.  Although, I do admit there are times I could just... well, shake him...LOL :D
