Neither of you should live in California or Nevada. Posted Image If you have to, Northern California(some parts) are decent except for in the summer months(when the state becomes dreadful)
I can't wait 'til I have money enough to travel. I don't want to live in America. Posted Image

Ohhh that sounds wonderful! I'm like you I don't like hot climates. Maryland is way to hot and humid for me. My boyfriend collaborates with someone in England and I keep telling him to look out for opportunities to live in England for awhile, that I could come with...and live there. There are things I miss about Germany... and things I reallllly don't. But I have a perpetual case of wanderlust that annoys my boyfriend to no end because he wants to stay here.

Call me biased if you like, but England is wonderful. And since you don't like hot climates, you would enjoy it there very much! Fingers crossed your boyfriend loses interest in Maryland soon!

@Arcane_Solona, believe me, you are not. But I know what you mean.

Brisbane is actually quite nice pretty much all year around...perhaps not during the flood sometimes last year......

@mcilhany, I am from New Zealand! The glourious middle earth. I just spotted Orlando Bloom at a rugby match over the weekend. They are all here at the moment, filming the Hobbit.

Oh, NZ is BEAUTIFUL! I'd love to go there someday!

We understand the "north" of Thedas to be warmer (Par Vollen, Seheron) but I wonder if it's humid too? I'm always curious as to why they don't have where a charater is from impact clothing/fighting and armor if they are in a completely different climate than they are used to. For example, Fenris in Fereldan - definitely colder than where he spent much of his time. So perhaps he'd need shoes? Long sleeved tunic under the pointy armor?

Arcane_Solona, that's all I needed to hear. I'm going. It's becoming my boyfriends' second home as it is, so I don't see where we could go wrong. Now, any specific places which you feel are the best?

Sorry Tealsie, you are right. But Nevada is a dry heat right? I've lived in SoCal, but it was way too smoggy where we lived. I've been curious about Nevada, in that at least it wouldn't be so humid.

Cosmo, I agree. It would be colder for Fenris, and I think Zevran mentions at some point in Origins how it is warmer in Antiva.

Yes, it is a dryer heat in NV. It doesn't quite reach the high temperatures of California either(the highest it got this year in Nevada was 95/98'F where I live). Deffinately tamer temperature-wise. But it's a desert and I love green places. And cold beaches. *heavysigh*

And here, one showing his face, this time.

Tealsie, thanks :-). Just, don't take where you are for granted. You may feel very different about it later. Too much vegetation can bring on different types of problems. I'm jealous of you. I've been wanting to live in the Southwest again for quite awhile now.

I'd rather "too much vegetation" than too much nothing, which is what I'm in now. I don't take things for granted. It's just that in terms of what/where I'm living in, I know what I like/love/need. And it is not Nevada. Or California either, for that matter. Posted Image

For some reason, after reading your post, I desperately want DLC based somewhere snowy. So we can have Fenris is a thick, furred coat. With or without boots. Maybe with a hood.

Noooononono. don't take it the wrong way. See, when I lived in SoCal I felt like you do. But i changed my mind later. That's all. I just as CGG would say "adding my perspective".

To TankGirly, That's so cool that you live in NewZealand, and saw Orlando Bloom and the preparations for The Hobbit. My fave of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is The Two Towers.

Hmmm... it depends on whether you prefer city life over countryside life, really. I'm from London myself, so I would obviously point you there, and I haven't travelled much around England, to be honest. All I can say is stay clear of Hastings; it is the most BORING place EVER (no offense to anyone who may be living in or may be from Hastings). I'd also steer clear of Manchester; a bit too dirty for my liking. Oxfordshire is a beautiful place to go to, and so is Derbyshire, but I wouldn't recommend living in the latter; not much goes on there.

Is it so wrong that the thought of Fenris in a thick, fur coar makes me swoon? How SEXY would that be????

Arcane_Solona, i know I know! The coat. he should have one so he won't get cold.

guys, for anyone interested: as a mage there is a Force Magic spell that looks like you're leveling something. It doesn't seem like much at first, but at it's top upgrade it stacks wonderfully with some of Fenris's skills. And Aveline's for that matter. Maker's Fist I think it is called.

Yes!! Robe/coat trimmed in fur...definitely SEXY! The climate is always something I ponder - truth be told it was playing Oblivion a million times a few years back that made me think of it. You trek to all these cities that have different temperatures but it never affected my character, no matter what race.

Mine is the Return of the King. That was when I started seriously obsessed with elves.

True. You can hike up to the border with Skyrim in naught but your underthings and be perfectly fine. Posted Image Would be lovely if you tried that while playing as a Bosmer, and wound up with a cold or something...
Wonder if they've fixed that for the upcoming game. Posted Image looks so breathtakingly wonderful so far. (sorry Bioware. The reason I've not bought Legacy yet is because I'm saving money for Skyrim. Elder scrolls came first, so there. )

...I'm going to have to try and scribble Fenris in a winter coat now.
or soon, at least. Working on something for dA's Gears of War contest atm.

Elves are... in a word: Irresistable. They are definitely my winning race (Fenris added to their appeal a thousand times over, though, if I'm completely honest ;)).

I actually live about three hours away from Calgary, closer to the US border. It isn't super cold about 68F I guess. Warm enough to stil be in T-shirts and outside. I was in New York and omg it was hot and humid. I thank the powers that be everyday for our dry heat instead of the humidity some other places get. Sure sunstroke is problematic, but at least I don't have to feel like I am swimming whenever I go outside. Its just beginning fall now so I have been spoiled with summer and it's going to get 'freeze your balls off' cold soon so I guess I shoud save my complaining for later.

Love Australia, I have been to Chile and New York now (Seattle and Dallas by way of layover and Toronto), Mexico, Germany, Australia are up next. Thank the good and fluffy lord it has become so cheap to travel now. And yes you can always smell out a Canadian by our unnessacary u's. :D One day the rest of the world will be out of u's and you'll all come running to us begging for some of ours, we'll see what goes down then. :P

I was wondering today where the idea that Fenris' marks still cause him plain came from, I know he still expects pain but I can rarely find a fic where the marking don't hurt so did I miss something or is it just most peoples head canon.

Ohhhyes, I agree totally with you guys. I love elves, and Fenris...he looks like..

Wait I want to surprise you. I won't tell you what I think he looks like yet. If I ever get the software I need on this computer, I'll try to depict Fenris in this way. All the artwork I've seen so far has been very inspirational. It might take me quite awhile to get the result I want so hopefully I can get started soon.

Ok so you guys all seem to live in my favorite places. New Zealand has countryside I've never seen before. Simply magical. I've been to London, and I'm definitely going back to stay for awhile, my mind is made up. Tealsie, you don't know how jealous I am of you, maybe we could trade places for a bit ;-). But I'll stay on topic; thank you everyone for sharing where you're from. Love that topic.

I played Oblivion too! Yeah there was snow where the Nords were. I wish these games would add snow etc. falling. I also played Battlespire and Redguard and those are two of my alltime very favorite games. My other favorite games are often Strategy games, and I loved the Might and Magic RPGs. Wish there were more of those. Tealsie, be sure to put that picture up when you're done with it :-). The one with Fenris in the winter coat, when you have the time.

Gaider said something about it.. and also I believe it was somewhere in his backstory. Gaider said it wasn't so much a raw physical pain as it was an aversion to being touched.

You also can comment on it after sexy times "The markings, they hurt don't they." There is also a banter with Bethany about "do they hurt" and he replies "you don't want the answer to that."

It's pretty much canon and so that's why you see it a lot.

As for the weather thing... I just kind of assume Kirkwall isn't all that cold. You don't see much weather though. Some snow in the winter perhaps? Yet it isn't exactly Ferelden. Also, Fenris is probably pretty resilient to weather. I doubt he would complain much about cold. I do wonder if he has "weather" armor though. Like a long sleeved undershirt or a cloak or something for rain or cold, LOL. Unfortunately there aren't any weather effects in DA so it pretty much looks summery and warm all the time. Clear skies and such. Plus, it is on the coast with a dock and all. It might be more of a humid climate in Kirkwall. *shrug*

Gah I am sort of half playing Fable 3 right now and Arg, I am just imagining charcter swapping and I have to say the first decision, All the rioters vs your LI, Who do you kill and most of the time I let the rioters live cause as much as I like my little bf *shrug* I just can't be that selfish, Now if it were Hawke choosing between innocents and Fenris. Posted Image Lets just say fenris need not be concerned for his life.

Also Legolas in the books was the beginning of my elf love, Legolas in the movies did his justice I felt and Zevran was my clincher. Elves rock. Mahariel, Tabris, Zevran and Merril and Fenris are all my favourite people.

Except for on the Wounded Coast (or possibly Sundermount? I really only notice it when you get side quests and when you do fens Bitter Pills quest.)  where it is always thunderstorming, I assume it is supposed to be raining or going to rain.

Good to know it's canon then.

That is so cool Fleshdress. Another of my favorite places. And from the way you described it, yest that would feel quite cold. I'm looking forward to later on in the week, when temperatures are set to drop here in Maryland for the first time in many many months it seems. And it would be so nice to have a drier climate. And I love the mountains.

Back on Topic: don't you guys hate when you click on Fenris and get the abrupt "We should move on," response?"

Arcane_Solona, I meant to tell you that I too was wierded out when the kiss after the pushing Hawke against the wall. It really doesn't look good. If you're on the friendship path, you can opt to let Fenris go after you do the Hadriana quest. He'll come back to your apartment and be sooo sweet.

I do wish that they would fix the animation where he shoves you against the wall because otherwise it's really cute. I love how he'll push you against the wall, glow and stare at you, then he makes the cutest expression like he's getting turned on, it almost looks like he's making this little gulp of realization, and then Hawke jumps him.

Arquen will for sure know what I mean since she's into all the Fenspressions :-).
