The Grand Poobah said Fenris is inspired by Valen Shadowbreath from Neverwinter series. He took the liberty to dig a little deeper, about his angsy bits that is.

I think I had mentioned to you guys about 1500 pages ago I am also a fan of Valen. XD

Guys I don't buy it. David Gaider doesn't know his own character. There's no way. Otherwise he wouldn't want to have sex or anything. This is a serious discrepancy for me. Don't try to change my mind. David Gaider is an okay writer but that's it. He's got too much to do to be consistant about anything.

The way I see it there are two types of writers. I'll let you know my feelings about this in a different post.

Sweet baby jesus, that just may be the most hilarious thing ever. I believe I lost in when I sang lyrium on our toes, toes and the little hip shake... omfg, so good.

I do believe is anythig Gaider says cause well, its his world his canon. If he tells me that all elves bleed rainbows the all elves bleed rainbows dammit. (Plus that would be awsome.)

Gaider loves his characters. I don't buy it.. he knows them inside out. He even says he hates all fanfiction and reading anything else on his characters that people do because it feels like "cheating on his wife or something." Like someone else is touching his baby.

Plus he did a tweet not to long ago about a fan that had come up to him and told him he was WRONG about his character. It was something like "That awkward moment when someone tells you that you are wrong about a character you created..." He's created so many good characters.. Alistair and Fenris being among them. He knows about his characters.. he loves them. They are his children, his creations. I don't think you can presume that he doesn't know his characters just because you don't agree about certain things. What comes from the writer IS canon. That is just how it goes. There isn't a reason to dispute it.

Thats pretty adorable...  his baby. Posted Image I love Gaider and his characters, there is nothing about Fenris I would like to change (other then the vanity stuff like playing with his hair. I love his hair but, playing is fun though.)  It drives me nuts when fans go coocookachuu about something they don't like being canon and then all the sudden the creator desn't know the character as well as the fan doesPosted Image makes me facepalm alot. I mean I often jump the train tracks when I am in the fandom. Rarepairs are my thing, but I would never assume to tell JK Rowling the Harry belonged with anyone but Ginny, or so on. I creators are the only ones that know their characters inside out, they have all that info we're missing.

I don't think I ever caught the explanation of that particular name for himself.

Fenris' pain is probably akin to phantom limb syndrome. Sometimes when someone has a limb amputated, they can still "feel" it. Usually, it hurts! It's not a mental disorder, it's a brain disorder. The brain gets cross-wired during the healing process and still believe the missing limb is there. When Fenris was branded, that pain signal bypassed a lot of the thinking part of his brain and went straight to his amygdala (sp?). Touch, any touch, may fire off those signals and register as pain.

Or, touch could be triggering traumatic memories that he can't remember consciously. So, he registers the discomfort from those memories as "pain."

BTW, Gaider created two very different but really great guys - Alistair and Fenris. He's a fantastic writer as far as I am concerned. Did he write Nathaniel? Because if he did, he pretty much hits it out of the park for me.

That is so cool Fleshdress. Another of my favorite places. And from the way you described it, yest that would feel quite cold. I'm looking forward to later on in the week, when temperatures are set to drop here in Maryland for the first time in many many months it seems. And it would be so nice to have a drier climate. And I love the mountains.

Back on Topic: don't you guys hate when you click on Fenris and get the abrupt "We should move on," response?"

Arcane_Solona, I meant to tell you that I too was wierded out when the kiss after the pushing Hawke against the wall. It really doesn't look good. If you're on the friendship path, you can opt to let Fenris go after you do the Hadriana quest. He'll come back to your apartment and be sooo sweet.

I do wish that they would fix the animation where he shoves you against the wall because otherwise it's really cute. I love how he'll push you against the wall, glow and stare at you, then he makes the cutest expression like he's getting turned on, it almost looks like he's making this little gulp of realization, and then Hawke jumps him.

Arquen will for sure know what I mean since she's into all the Fenspressions :-).

Yeah, I do that all the time now (letting him go and waiting for him to come back and tell my Hawke "I've been thinking of you. In fact, I've been able to think of little else". Oh my WORD. His voice is playing in my head as we speak! "Command me to go, and I shall". *Seriously melts into a heap*. I prefer that scene much better than the pushing against the wall scene for some reason. Maybe because the kiss isn't so messed up!

And ahhhhh the expression on his face after he slams Hawke against the wall! Maker, maker, maker. And to think Mr Gaider couldn't surpass himself after writing Alistair. I though Ali was the epitome of perfection, but little did I know what kind of ethereal creature would present himself to me in Lowtown in the dead of night.

Really, this is becoming unhealthy; the very thought of Fenris gives me butterflies!

First off, I only come to the forums occasionally, and will poke around into topics as I please. I've never seen anything you've posted before. And while you may post every ten seconds, demanding a response, I honestly have better things to do.

Secondly, if we want to talk about "know-it-alls", shall we start with presumptuous fans? How much pain does Fenris feel when you touch him, exactly? Did he tell you? Do you have some insight into how that works, better than I do? It's a matter of discomfort and reflex for him-- and there comes a time when being lonely and cut off from the entire world around you will lead even someone as averse to touch as Fenris to seek it out.

And, when it comes to Fenris, I do know it all, thank you very much. I know him inside and out, because I created him. So rather than deciding something about him and getting annoyed because your version doesn't match up with the real thing, please consider what you're speaking of.

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed the character so much.

Must be nice to be so high on yourself. About the touching thing, that clears some things up. You might have mentioned them before. I can't believe someone as great and godly as you would condescend to being affected by little ole me. I guess I should be flattered.
