You know I finally worked up the courage (with extreme difficulty) to romance Anders, and I have to say, not sure what the fuss is about with him. IMO the romance is pretty bland, no drama, and it seems like its based on merely your opinion on mages, as is everything with Anders.

That's alright though because now I'm rest assured that I won't be tempted to romance anyone but Fenris again! I think the fact that almost every time you click on him he says "I am yours" makes him win hands down without taking anything else into consideration yet, as all Anders says is some rubbish how he doesn't want to hurt you.
Fenris ftw!

OHH WHAT THE -- I MISS EVERYTHING -- Dammit!

Mchil had an aneurysm -- Gaider showed up, and and ... I missed it *cries*

Glad Fleshy was here to sort of "represent" some of us -- LOL.

I miss all the good stuff around here. Love all the people who come out of the woodwork when a dev posts. Including Aimo! -- ILU Aimo and not in the creeper kind of way but in that I am so jealous of your talent and love your work so very much you don't even know! kind of way...

Plus, nobody asked Gaider about whether or not Fenris (or Leto at the time) knew about the markings and the ritual beforehand or if it was just the boon for his family he was after? Specifically, did he know what he was signing up for when he entered the competition? -- Man, this question comes up all the time and I wasn't here to ask it *facepalm*

Ah, well... I cannot express how much this character means to me. He has become one of my favorites of all time. Alistair is wonderful, but Fenris is like the perfect mixture of just the right amount of tropes and philosophies that I cling to. He's very unique and the depth to him is astounding.

Not to mention --- What did Fenris think was in the chest?

I seriously am kicking myself for not being here. What a horrible reception for our beloved creator!

But you know.. way to pick the worst time possible to enter the thead. Not one of our intelligent discussions. Not one of our fangirling tirades.. NO.. an off the rails abnormal post with all the makings of a troll and only a couple of the regulars to go "WTF!?" *headdesk*

SERIOUSLY???  I went to bed early to catch up a little and Mr. Gaider shows up???  Why Maker why??  I can't believe I missed it all!!

Fenris and Alistair are probably my two fave characters out of any RPG.  Well done ser!!

As for the crazy on here, did anyone mention that we're full up??  :P   ( a rework of a fave Jack Nicholson line....)

And whoever said they used to crush on MJ, me too!  Back in the Thriller days....

Heidenreich, I usually use Black_Ink_Tide's Tumblr (http://blackcoffeeandink.tumblr.com/) account to keep up with Coffee, Black - LJ confuses the hell out of me, too! She always posts when a new chapter is up, and plus she writes extra things about the characters like the "Ask Gare-Bear" section which are always so sweet to read

I asked about the Leto thing, I just waited until he left and then asked, cause I am so smart, S-M-R-T. Literally I finally got over the urge to ask for a short story while he was here and went to bed, laid there for all of 5 minuts before I remembered the question and came falling down the stairs to ask it, too late though.  This is the first time I have been on for any drama, and the Gaider appearence. Posted Image It makes up for missing everything else.

Um there is the AO3 version but it is only up to chapter 33 last I checked. I ony have the link to the latest chapter if thats what you want.

I may be able to donate some cookies for the cafe, maybe. It's up in the air, sometimes I feel generous with my cookies and other times...Posted Image

I usually go by her Tumblr as well. It's up to chapter 40 at the moment.

The original thread is -- HERE

The problem is that it has SO many comments that they run off the page to the right side.. I tend to look at the comments by date -- you have to scroll down down down to see the comments then click on the chapter you want. It takes a few clicks before you find the right place most times. If you click the "link" button on the comment/chapter it will take you to that chapter's thread.

The problem is it has so many comments the actual chapters are getting lost because they have to be truncated on LJ. Also, she doesn't update AO3 as fast, and I wish she would because that LJ thread gets cumbersome. AO3 is much better design for things like this.

I'm an old LJ pro -- LOL. Used it as my personal and story and whatever/icon/sig blog FOREVER. Abandoned it a while ago though. Just recently went back to it to post in the kinkmeme.

I didn't see you ask about the Leto thing Fleshy -- guess I missed it. *sigh* Oh well... the mysteries continue I suppose.

I actually managed to find the link that I  was looking for. Chapter 40- link doesn't show all of chapter 40, but the chapter 37 link does.

37-40. Unfh!

And yea, I found it through tumblr. ;)

Tch, if he came on and settled things what would we discuss? :P

I just have the update thread set to notify me everytime someone posts in there so when she updates Coffee, Black it lets me know and I can go to the link she always has there for the latest chapter. Just re-read chapter 40. *sigh* frottage shouldn't be so hot.

Its not hard to miss as I hid the question amonst my cookie hoard rambling. I am incapable of doing anything the easy way. You know I don't remember ever wondering what was in the chest, now it's all I can think about. Great, just great. :P

How awesome Fenris is ?? That discussion never gets old, LOL.

I like how he commented on Fenris' sardonic sense of humor. I always thought that about him. He has that fantastic sense of humor. "Is that all you do.. dwell on the negative?" -- "No.. well, I.. Alright, fair enough."

I love how he can own up to his own faults. If he didn't have so much going on internally I think his humor would shine a lot more than it does. I would hope in the future that he would develop it more. Even in the game you see how he progresses and gets more comfortable telling a joke or two. Plus the laugh. The first chuckle of the game is almost like a foreign sound he's never made before and then as the game progresses he is chuckling and laughing like a pro.

I always did differentiate the rivalmage from a surrogate master or Danarius type. I figured Fenris would never see what he had with Hawke as anything remotely like Danarius. However, I often wondered if Hawke would mistake his hate for Danarius and mages as something Fenris projects onto them. Like misunderstanding his reactions and anger and taking them more personally as if they were directed at him/her specifically. I never saw the rivalmance that way, but I can see how some people and Hawke could think Fenris thought they were just as bad as a magister or Danarius.

Come on now, there is ALWAYS something to discuss when it comes to Fenris.

There's a similar comment Hawke can make in the first or second after-recruitment conversation... Hawke makes some comment on Fen being so negative. His reply is something along the lines of "The wine was... tasty?"
As much as I love the sort of "big" comments he gives, I think I prefer his little random quips. Posted Image

Hawke: Don't you have anything positive to say?
Fenris: The wine was tasty?

I died laughing... I had forgotten that little tidbit. In his first recruitment cutscene where he throws the bottle in Act 1.

Also,

Hawke: Are you finished complaining yet?
Fenris: I am now.

His quips on that first scene. I died laughing.. I loved them so much. Plus my *trollface* Hawke just enjoyed messing with him.

Well, I too missed the drama.   And I really want an answer to your question, since it's mine too. :crying:  And the answer to the chest question would be nice too.   Although he probably wouldn't have answered it.  Let's face it Gaider is kinda cruel that way....he like to leave us hanging :P.    Anyways, that's just.... insert rude word here .  Oh well back to my theories.

I've always been of the opinion that if you don't like the Anders romance, it's not FOR you.

The drama comes from you... it derives from the pain you feel watching someone you care about be consumed and knowing you are powerless to stop it. It's about wanting to ameliorate pain, while knowing you can never truly take it away.

If you don't actually feel any of those things, then it's not the romance for you. No lecture I can give can make someone spontaneously develop compassion for Anders. "This is the rule I will most cherish breaking." still gives me mild shivers, but it won't work on everyone.

Bear in mind that this is coming from someone who likes Fenris too, and has slept with him with every single Hawke. Just... so... tempting. I came to these boards not knowing who I preferred, but their respective discussions have sort of swayed me, since then.

Yeah I believe that was my purely aggressive rivalmage *trollface* biatch Hawke. I trolled Fenris to no end. I don't know what he saw in me, except that he was my anchor from the madness of everything around me. Also, for some odd reason I wanted to help him take revenge. I supported him each step of the way -- Killing? No problem! Nothing would make my Hawke happier than watching people such as Danarius die. Her altruistic streak I suppose. Also, without him reminding me about being naive about magic and such my Hawke would have probably ended up psychopathic.

I loved my aggressive Hawke -- My sarcastic Hawke as well, but my favorite for the laughs and sheer "Oh my god that is hilariously awesome" factor it was my Aggro Hawke hands down.

Actually, you can ask him that.  He goes on and on in one of the last convos about how rotten mages are and my romanced Hawke, hurt to the core, demanded, "What about me?  Does that include me?"

He actually looked crushed he hurt her and rather startled she'd draw that conclusion.

That pedastal he has mage Hawke on must be dizzyingly high.  :innocent:

And, dammit, I'm never around with Mr. Gaider jumps into the threads.  Of course, I'd probably stand there tongue tied, my fingers in knots, unable to type.

I am dieing to know this!! or shall it always remain a mystery? like the glowing briefcase in Pulp Fiction? *sigh*

started 2nd run, trying to resist the urge to romance Fen again... this is difficult. At the same time, thinking I might have to romance Isabella just because I do *not* want to hear the banter between those two (about hooking up if you don't romance either of them).

You can sell Fenris?! What? I haven't come across this yet, is it when you confront Danarius and choose the option 'let's negotiate"?? Poor Fen... *sadface*
