I managed to get my little youngling watch me play with dragons (show her the archdemon in Origin one and she was mighty impressed) and Martians (she thought those Reapers are one of those thing from War of the World). But the older one almost always start causing mayhem as soon as I start my xBox.

Computer games and related things that take a bit of time and attention are now mostly reserved for after 8pm now that summers over ;P Previously I could toss them outside to play in the yard to get some sunshine.. but now my older two are back at school and the little one's still to little, so I spend my week-days playing games with him. If I'm on the forums, its because he's decided to play a game on "the kids computer" or he's watching a movie :P I don't even think I've touched my xBox to do anything other then stream movies off Netflix in about a month.

Also? My 6 year old has a crush on "The wolf". Which is adorable, sort of.

Wow... a lot of you on this forum have kids! My mother is soooo detached from the gaming world, it really scares me sometimes because I get worried that my love for video games will be all gone when I'm older (I'm 19). Although, being 19, my mother is obviously a lot older than you guys (all of your kids are toddlers, from what I've gathered, so you all must be pretty young). I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm glad to know that, even with being a mother and all, one can still enjoy playing games and escaping reality, even if for a little while:)

I doubt your love of computer-related things will ebb with age. Worry not :) I'm rounding the home-stretch to 30 and computers and computer games are no less loved then they were when I was 15, or 10, or even 6 when computers consisted of a black screen with a blinking cursor.

My mothers almost 60, and I loathe the day I introduced her to Facebook ;p

I don't have kids... don't think I want them. Lol. Gaming has been a hobby of mine forever. I blame neverwinter nights and diablo for getting me into the rpg genre. Nice to know that I fit in this niche though, lol.

Honestly I wouldn't have even played dragon age if my boyfriend hadn't literally installed it on my puter.. made a shortcut and said "play this now! Trust me!" Of course now he says "I will never do that again... omg... your obsessed." He was also the one who told me "make sure to check your desk there is a quest there you will love..." (in regards to bait and switch.) Lol he now has nobody but himself to blame for my Fengirling, muahaha!

Gaming world has no age boundary, let me assure you that. *is biased for being a total geek*
My 6 year old youngling only interested in how to get those cool 'tattoos'. He does loved me playing with pretty dragons though, especially this one below:

I didn't really get to much of a say in it.. ;p I was completely and firmly in the "no kids ever" camp pre-daughter. It's sort of what happens when you sleep with your boyfriend w/o protection and screw up your pills at the same time. Thankfully the Boyfriend turned into the Husband(at his insistance, actually. I'm actually anti-marrage too ;p). I pretty much did the same thing for the other two, which just shows-ta-go-ya (yes I know that's bass-ackwards) that not using your BRAIN around a man is never a smart thing. ;p

Don't get me wrong, I'd die before I gave up/etc'd my kids. I just.. wasn't a kid person, and really I'm still not, because I hate other peoples kids. I like my neice, because she's 13 and more like me then her mother wants to admit. Beyond that though, I bristle and cringe when I'm around my daughters little 6 year old friends, and I silently prase the god of.. what ever god it is.. that my older(who's 5) son is anti-social. I also silently mourn my weekend-mornings because my little one is a boy and I know football, and baseball, and soccer, and probably track, are all comming.

and this is what happens when my kids 4am me.

@Heidenreich, lol'd. I bet that's what ever Hawke had imagined in their head XD

Oh, and dear. Waking up at 4.00 am is nothing as long as they are healthy. My older son just had a ear infection and I am up almost all night, to a degree I was actually growling while preparing his antibiotics.

If only my mother was as fun as you! If it weren't for my good grades at law school, she'd scowl everytime I delve into the amazing world that is Dragon Age.

Although, she does enjoy watching me play at times... she laughs her butt off at the way I melt during Fenris' romance scenes (I'm usually very anti-lovey dovey mushiness when it comes to real life romance, but when its fictitious, I'm a sucker for love, which she finds to be hilarious).

I'm young too (although my policy is it's not polite to ask a lady her age, but I'll say I am under 25), and definitely no kids-- I never realized we had so many Mama!Fengirls on the forum, though!

My Mother is actually an MMORPG (she plays what's supposed to be a "back-up" healing class, as it has more DPS skills and capabilities then healing, but she can actually and easily out-heal the "real" healers that she groups/raids with) and 3rd-Person-RPG player and has been for a while (henceforth, when she hears me talk about DA2, she approves of my Mage!Healer!Hawkette/Fenris pairing that happens 9/10 of the time, as my Hawkette is "keeping the tank happy") and is trying to get my Father to put down his First-Person-Shooters and join her.

It took me three times to beat the High Dragon (with Mage!Hawke on DPS, Fenris as tank, Varric as DPS, and Aveline as a damage soaker) my first time fighting that thing. I thought I had enough health potions that I wouldn't need Anders, but by the time the party got the dragon down a quarter of the way, we wiped because (1st time) we ran out of potions or (2nd time) the timers to use the health potions again were still coming back up. Before the third attempt, I was going to go back and switch Aveline for Anders, but I went, "Ah, one more try won't kill me. If we wipe again, I'll go grab Anders."

Got the thing 3/4 of the way down it's health bar before Mage!Hawke, Varric, and Aveline dropped like flies and Fenris was all alone with (luckily) a close-to-full health bar and three health potions (I'd managed to conserve some, and I have *no fricking clue* how I did it to this day, as I still can't do that even with a Mage!Healer!Hawke in the party). I just ran around the dragon with Fenris like a chicken with my head cut off until I realized Fenris could get a good smack on the dragon before it could turn to face him and hit him, and that became my strategy. It took about thirty to forty minutes to kill the dragon after that, and I nearly killed Fenris several times (especially when the High Dragon flew up onto the ledge and the little ones came out while the High Dragon spits fireballs at you-- but it was a good thing, too, as it got me a couple more health potions), but it eventually died (and Hawke somehow rezzed to eletrocute the dragon to death in the cutscene even though she was totally DEAD :pinched:).

I'm in the same age group - although 2 little kidlets.  And I've been gaming for over 10 years.  A few PC games and then the Xbox arrived and Halo sucked me in!
Anyway, I game when I can, and my son loves watchng me play ME2 - he likes the "rocket ships"!
I refuse to give it up!

Awww, I am also one of the ducklings, sitting pretty at 23. Want kids of my own, but I despise all other peoples children. I also hate seeing what parents sometimes let their kids get away with. I worked in the theater, and I see kids hitting their moms screaming and getting what they want. It's mind boggling, cause I think my mother would have murdered me for behavior like that.

Lol, Fenris with mage child.

I've been reading a fanfic with "Fenbabies" and it's so good!

And yes, we are appalled daily by what people allow their children to do.  It's pathetic.

That's hilarious. I can just see this happening with me Fenris' figurative 'shoes', sadly.  When someone tries to hand me a child, I'm immediately thinking, "ok, when is it socially acceptable to give this back?" And that's even with related kids that I do actually like.

Lol, I believe I am too cynical to be good maternal figure, I mean with my own kids sure but there are a lot of kids, my nephew for example that need military school or something. I just don't get the amount of crap kids get away with today. 13 and pregnant, I mean come on, go play with barbies for effs sake. I just love seeing Fenris as the awkward dad that constantly tries to give children back. Mostly because my Canon Fenris is with my MHawke, and I just don't see a very strong paternal figure in him.

Ah it's all in good fun!  :)  Don't worry, definitely not canon - can't remember if it's an AU but it was a kinkmeme fill from LJ.  She's a great writer.

In the "real" universe - yes, no babies.  I concur!

Morning, all

shamelessly repost my work artwork

Oh, and for those who had younglings, I am so looking forward to the day they start interested the rpg games. At the moment they are only capable of playing angry birds.
