I just met Fenris in my current playthrough. His opening line always makes me smile--the delivery is just perfect.
We never do find out what Fenris thought was in the chest, do we?
David (Gaider) answered that last week: Fenris thought there would be information about his family. Poor kid. He really cared about them so deeply:( And then that stupid, pathetic sister of his betrays him as easily as blinking. Jeez.<_<

But if he couldn't read...how would he know if it was information on his family or not? He couldn't read it to tell and since he's alone....? Who would he trust enough to ask them, please read the contents of this chest and tell me about my family? Or maybe I'm over thinking again

I'm thinking that if there had been something to read in the chest, Hawke would have read it and would perhaps tell him what it said? Otherwise I guess they'd hand the info over and he's "pretend" to peruse it? I was always curious how he knew "my master accompanied them to the city" - what did he find on that guard?

See, I am left with more questions. Would he trust Hawke, whom he had just met with this type of information? Fenris doesn't strike me as this open. And your right, how did he know if Danarius was there or not? Who is his contact? Why do we never meet them...ahh more questions

What if it was in a language Hawke couldn't read? Tevinter/Tevene/whateveritmightbecalled.Cosmochyck wrote...
I deifnitely agree that he probably wouldn't trust her, but if she just point blank said "the note/letter said this..." then perhaps he'd believe her? Especially if you've already received his reply of "I've met few in my travels that have sought anything more than personal gain".

Which even Fenris would still not be able to read anyway.Would be interesting having them running around Kirkwall, trying to find maybe a scholar or somesuch who could read it.

True - hadn't though of the language issue. Perhaps it's a picture? Although if Fenris had his memories wiped, it would have to be very specific information as he wouldn't recall any of it anyway.

Considering DG said it was "information", it seems like it would have been something written. But perhaps that's just what I took it to mean.AbsoluteApril wrote...
maybe he assumed it was family momentos or photos (do they have photos in Thedas?), maybe it was their belongings before being taken as slaves, doesn't have to have been something written. just a thought...

Me, too.
Maybe someone should collect Mr. Gaider's statments/links and save them in the group? Since we can't do it in the OP, that is.

I know - It's like, OK the death of Malcom and the destruction of Lothering, Nah - not enough.
Brother/Sister have to A) Die.Leave and become a Grey Warden. or C) End up in the Gallows where you can't visit them.
Still not enough? OK - Let's kill the mother, and no, you CANT save her!
Need Act 3 angst! Living sibling or lover or best friend kidnapped!
It's like someone at Bioware has this vendetta against the Hawke family.
Edit.
My first playthrough I actually did cry. I'm very close to my mother so the thought of losing someone like that....Waterworks.

First - Arquen, that was awesome. Very well done. *sniff*
When I first did 'All that Remains', it was around the 2 year anniversary of my mother's death. I had to take a long, long walk after I finished it, and my husband got dragged with me and had to deal with me being fairly emotional about the whole thing. It really brought me back to that place. (This is a compliment to their writing, but that night, I was torn between loving and hating the writers.)

Maybe someone here can help meand yes, it is Fenris related.
Was going to Sundermountain
when the loading screen saying the slavers caught up with him popped
up. When it finished loading...I'm in freaking Sundermountain. I've
tried going back plenty of times but it isn't working.
I have no save that's closest to before I went to Sundermountain. the "closest" would be when I'm about to confront Lady Harimann and Allure but I did a bunch of crap
afterwards and I REALLY don't wanna go through all that again. Tried using zz_dae_debug and plot jump, and followers plot....it keeps
sending me back to where I choose either followers plot or the crisis/critical plot. And Fenris' zz_fen_debug doesn't work either

How am I supposed to write angst with that image in my head?
Go into the Valen thread and read the post I just put up. What I did in here last was nothing.
Crimsy what did you do.........*Runs to Valen thread*
*Stops, stares. Backs out slowly.*
*Falls over laughing*
OK, that's a whole lot weirder than my dream....Which involved getting kidnapped by Fenris....In Middle Earth....During 'The Hobbit'.
Methinks there's something wrong with us...

Sorry, probably didn't phrase that right. I meant I was in world map, clicked on Sundermountain, and instead of a regular loading screen I got the ambush loading screen. But instead of going to the cutscene, I am instead in Sundermountain. No ambush, no Hadrianna, nothing....but I found out when I accidentally clicked on Fenris, he said if we were ever going after her! O_O but I don't have the quest, I don't have the map icon for it, nothing! D:tankgirly wrote...

You should be in the mountain. If you had done the Hadrianna fight you would know what the ambush scene should be. I am confused, what happened?
