Funny how some of you here have never played using a Female Hawke, despite you being female yourselves! I have never played with a male Hawke (or any male character in Origins) because DA is one of the few RPGs that actually allows you to play as a female. And seeing a female beat up the Arishok in single combat, kick some carta and dragon ass AND beat the crap out of abominations and blood mages (and bronze statues and crazed Knight Commanders) reeallllyyy gives me a sense of empowerment. Its like "HELL YEAH, I'm a GIRL, AND I can KICK your ass!" (yes, yes, I'm a feminist).
You know this interests me because it got me thinking, Bioware games are really the only ones I always choose to be female, but I think that is just because of the simple fact I don't play many other RPG's because I've been spoilt with them in allowing us to choose our gender. In an rpg I think it is vital we connect with our characters, and naturally I connect with a female a lot more easily. In terms of other games however...
Well let's just say in something like Assassin's creed I'd always prefer being a male over female, not sure why, it just seems to make more sense.
Interesting, I always (in games where I have choice) end up playing both genders. I end up connecting with my characters in different and interesting ways. In DAO my canon Warden or my favourite Warden was my male Cousland, who became King-Consort. Where applicable, I enjoying seeing how the game changes or doesn't change for either gender. In some RPGs we have no choice and in some of those cases I understand why, lore reasons such as the Witcher. But I am older and many years ago we females had no options so I learned early to adjust. That sentence made me feel old.

Sorry, probably didn't phrase that right. I meant I was in world map, clicked on Sundermountain, and instead of a regular loading screen I got the ambush loading screen. But instead of going to the cutscene, I am instead in Sundermountain. No ambush, no Hadrianna, nothing....but I found out when I accidentally clicked on Fenris, he said if we were ever going after her! O_O but I don't have the quest, I don't have the map icon for it, nothing! D:tankgirly wrote...

Maybe someone here can help meand yes, it is Fenris related.
Was going to Sundermountain
when the loading screen saying the slavers caught up with him popped
up. When it finished loading...I'm in freaking Sundermountain. I've
tried going back plenty of times but it isn't working.
I have no save that's closest to before I went to Sundermountain. the "closest" would be when I'm about to confront Lady Harimann and Allure but I did a bunch of crap
afterwards and I REALLY don't wanna go through all that again. Tried using zz_dae_debug and plot jump, and followers plot....it keeps
sending me back to where I choose either followers plot or the crisis/critical plot. And Fenris' zz_fen_debug doesn't work either
You should be in the mountain. If you had done the Hadrianna fight you would know what the ambush scene should be. I am confused, what happened?
Go back to any previous save prior to heading outside of Kirkwall. Make sure you remove all your mods (if you have any) and then replace them one at a time, each time heading back out to sundermount. The moment the scene breaks you'll know which mod is breaking you.
If you don't have any mods/not on a computer.. just go back to an earlier save.
Ex-Paladin, not sure if you got it working but the other debug command to try is runscript zz_dae_debug and use a world debugger to force the area open. Of course, always back up first!

Thank you al XD I'm glad you guys like it~
I also did a rushed, mini, what-if comic featuring Varania if you guys are interested it's on my Tumblr along with a bit of rambly explanation because Varania gives me so many feelings
I love your first pic cause...yumm. Love the way you draw Fen, it's all soft lines, make me want to hug him. I am really interested in seeing the continuation of the comic as well, if you have plans for it.
Rivalmance was okay, not nearly as satisfying as I thought. Although when you snark at Fenris you get some great lines back. I have actually never liked the, "while I am an apostate refugee...ect." line because to me it always felt like trying to one up the person.
Which actually brings me to my biggest peeve of all in the game, after Leandra dies and almost every companion if you don't watch you words closely, will say something along the lines of "At least you knew your mother." makes me flail. I want the option for Hawke to say, "Yes because never knowing your mother is anything like being loved and cared for, 28(?) years and then finding that person chopped up in a basment. Can we not make this about you for two seconds?"It may very well be my favorite line from Fenris when he just offeres support, er well, in his own special way. but I never choose the Where is your mother? option.
Arcane_Solona: I'm really sorry, I wasn't offended or anything, I latch onto moments or opportunities that I can discuss what I am passionate about and or debate, I love debate... when I know what I'm talking about. That subject is just my trigger subject and since you had... uhg, I am just sorry. I as told my aggressive nature is part of my charm, do you feel charmed. It wasn't directed at you, it was just the only sentence I could direct anything at, and you did not deserve my mini rant.
Not to worry! And yes, I do feel charmed:P

LOVE the one you've done! The first one is really good to, except I've always imagined A LOT more muscle than that under his armor. Love the touch of the freckles on his shoulders; very realistic!

I did a Fenris rivalmance with my female mage Hawke the first time I ever played DA2, and it's still my favourite so far. One of my all-time favourite lines is when they were talking and he says something along the lines of "I'm an escaped elven slave, doesn't that bother you?", to which Hawke responded "And I'm an apostate refugee, doesn't that bother *you*?" I believe chuckles followed, but that may be my memory being faulty.
Sadly, I think Fenris/Isabela is adorable, which annoys me since they're my favourite romances
The mere knowledge that she might get together with Fenris if I don't makes me not like her! How dare she go after my guy! (tongue-in-cheek).

What effects the lyrium would have on Fenris
is completely up in the air. Fenris was a test case by Danarius, the
first of his kind, so anything can happen (lots of jokes about how
fanfiction could go crazy on this, haha). It may make him crazy, may
give him added powers, we don’t know. Also, since Danarius isn’t around
anymore to “maintain” the lyrium (Gaider’s word), it could become
unstable. Gaider imagines lyrium like mercury.
And this bit is actually relevant to the Fenris-not-seeming-gay discussion:
Favorite part: Gaider
wrote the Fenris romance with a male Hawke in mind! I am a
F!Hawke/Anders, M!Hawke/Fenris girl so this was neat to me. The rivalry
romance was the one he wrote first, and the one he prefers.

OH MY GOD! WOW! That wouldn't have occurred to me in a million years! Gaider's favourite romance is the polar opposite of my favourite one (F!Hawke/Fenris friendmance).
Thanks a lot for that!

I prefer femhawke friendmance as well, lol. Interesting about mhawke. Of course you know this means a ton of ppl are going to jump on the "fenris is gay!" Bandwagon ... sigh....
Working and stuff... so quick post. Haven't gotten a chance to check my emails or read ash's story yet. Apologies! Im getting my ass kicked.
I actually have never posted pics of my hawke, lol. Plenty of Fenris, but I always feel presumptuous posting my own hawkes lol.

David knows his characters best And he knows how he wrote them. . Still, Fenris always comes across to me as straight. I can envision Fenris being the victim of Dearius a la Spartacus, the look of shame on his face when Denarius makes that nasty little remark says a lot, but I just don't get the vibe of willing participant. Of course if I played through as a gay guy, the dialogue changes probably support his being gay more.
