Solona, why do we agree on like.. everything? LOL

I also figured that his eyebrows wouldn't have changed because they are farther away from his markings, and neurological system. The eyes kind of operate independently and the follicles on the eyebrows and body tend to be more independent in their texture, melanin, and growth than the hair follicles on the head. Going with my infusion into the nervous and circulatory system -- it would make sense that it killed off the melanin on the head -- since they probably had to mess with his brain -- but not so much on his body or on his eyebrows.

Of course, elves don't really have body hair to begin with, LOL. Look at Zevran and those smoooth legs. LOL.

Appropriate, but sad TOP: muahahaha....

The same question crosses my mind whenever I read something you've posted, Arquen! Its like, I cannot even come up with one instance where we disagreed. LOL! I guess our minds just operate in the same way =P (which is a rarity in my case, mind you. I rarely- if ever- meet anyone who thinks in a similar fashion to me).

But yeah, I've actually gotten so used to Fenris with his snow-white hair, I have a hard time picturing him with anything else. I love it on him. It goes sooo perfectly with his tanned skin and green eyes.

EDIT: That really is a sad TOP:(

I love SmaiLika's Hawke.. she reminds me of my snarky Warrior -- looks very similar, but my warrior has dark eye makeup, LOL.

It's rare for me to find someone agreeable as well, Solona. LOL. Hence, the added weirdness.

I should draw a Leto pic.. I keep having one in the back of my mind, but I never quite get it out. Keep getting distracted by other things, LOL.

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Yes, draw a Leto pic!!! You're so good at drawing Fenris, you should definitely go for a Leto one!

Someone actually asked David Gaider about the hair-color. He gave a very nonspecific answer about how he hadn't really thought about it before. Saying he's known a few people who have had white hair and dark eyebrows naturally.

Personally, I believe the white of his hair matches the white of his markings a little too much to be coincidence. Hair color is based off of melanin and I would assume that the ritual and the infusing of the lyrium more than likely damaged or killed off all the melanin in his hair follicles. Turning it white (or no color at all, actually). I'm inclined to think it was a mixture of the trauma and the lyrium itself. As I've stated before -- the lyrium was the most potent and poisonous form. It no doubt would have caused damage. I don't think it was just stress, but actual physical damage to the follicles by the lyrium infusion process.

All theory of course, but DG left it up in the air, and I'm more inclined to think he wasn't born that way naturally.

His natural hair was black, like his eyebrows. Going from black to solid white is the most melanin damage and indicates the most trauma. Since the more melanin a person has in their follicles the darker the hair.

theorycrafting with SCIENCE! No, I haven't thought about this way too much or anything >.<

That seems like the most logical explanation, at least science-based. I have also read (in multiple 'worlds') that either intense trauma (on anyone) or lots of magical energy (mages) could bleach the person's hair white (and eyes blue, in one case) before age would do so, so I was taking it as a magical-theory thing.

I have seen many people with mismatched hair/eyebrows (leaving hair dye out of it), but I agree, this is too similar to be coincidence, regardless.

And that is a sad ToP. :crying:

Right. Read one of the messages, from Anders. And you will understand this is totally Fenris related.

This, so much!

I also like that Hawke - she resembles Aniya as well, in my mind.  One of these days I might actually decide what I actually *want* and commission something. :)

ETA: Baaahahahahaha! That comic is hilarious!

I always imagined Fenris looked more or less like this when he was Leto.  Wynne was the one who made this way back in ye olden days of the thread and I don't know where it actually is anymore, so I had to reupload.  LOVE THIS HAIR COLOR ON HIM SO MUCH.  Reminds me of Atton's hair color from KOTOR2.

MAKER'S BREATH, BLOOD AND SOUL! I think I just died. I have officially DIED. That is BEAUTIFUL! *stares blankly at screen with mouth hanging open*

EDIT: Okay, this is ridiculous. I really can't stop staring and repeating "Maker's breath, he looks so good, Maker's breath he looks so good!"

Well, now I'm hoping that we get more random mail in the next game.

About Leto: The fanart I've seen of him pretty much always shows him with black hair, and I kept imagining it more ginger-y to fit with Varania. Any other ideas?

Also, VERY offtopic, but can anyone name, just off the top of their heads, any songs that fit... Howl? Posted Image

LOL at the letter from Anders! Its so fitting- Anders is such a sweetheart, I can totally see him let Hawke "borrow" his clothes for some "fun" (ehm, ehm) time with Fenris, despite the fact that he hates Fenris' guts:P

EDIT: Anyone else noticed that letter that says "I beg you--- Meredith--- demanding lube--- please help!!!---Orsino" LOL! These letters are priceless!

That fit Fenris?  Was listening to "Rain" by Patty Griffin today and thought it was kind of Fenris-y.

Looool at the letter from Anders! Hawke, you mean and dirty man.

The two letters from Orsino about Meredith are also great. Well, the whole lot of them are, really.

But yeah, I also agree that Leto's hair was probably black *gets momentarily distracted by black-haired pic* A redhead with black eyebrows seems unlikely, considering redheads normally have very little melanin. And yes, it would also make more sense with his dark skin. Although this begs the question how his sister ended up being a milky white redhead...different fathers?

I would also tend more towards the lyrium bleach theory, not just shock.

About Zevran falling in love with the Warden and never loving anyone else again, my heart melted when I read that! I had no idea! I never romanced him; Alistair is just impossible to resist, but now I'm actually tempted to romance Zev instead!  I love it when the person who falls in love with you is someone who has never fallen in love before and doesn't seem the type to fall in love, only to have you change everything they thought they knew about themselves and before they know it, they find themselves doing what they thought was impossible: falling truly and deeply in love with you.

Heh, I've actually yet to romance Alistair at all...I have a Cousland planned for him, honest...I just haven't made her yet. My other Wardens are all over Zev, except M!Amell, who somehow managed to go for Morrigan. So I can only heartily recommend the Zevmance. You just need to be a little sneaky with him at the end for best results.

Although, depending on how you interpret his relationship with Rinna, he was either starting to fall in love with her or was in love with her. Either way, it scared him, so he was ready to believe she was a traitor and let Taliesin kill her. I guess you can say that the Warden is the first time he's "safely" loved someone.

Fenris in the black coat makes me shudder. I really, really do not like that look on him. I mean, Dante is hot and all, but like Ineffable Igor said, I like to keep my games separate. Plus, it seems like a crime to cover up such a sexy body with that coat! I love looking at his arms, his wide chest, his lean, muscular legs... *drooolssss*
I think his bare feet are beautiful, I have nothing wrong with looking at them. Its just, I'm a very "realistic" and practical person, so it just doesn't seem practical for someone to just be bare foot all the time, especially someone who travels and runs and fights and adventures as much as Fenris (and Merrill, for that matter) do.
But his toes are the most adorable!

That's what really draws me to Fenris; the knowledge that this falling in love and trusting and friendship business is something he thought he'd never experience, something he shunned, in fact, only to find himself completely in love with Hawke and willing to do anything for him/her, even if that entails fighting to protect mages in the end. Like he says in Act II "I never thought I needed anyone, or wanted anyone... until now" *smoulders with those impossibly sexy eyes of his*
MELT!:wub::wub:

Zevvie has been in love before, it's part of his Charming trauma.

Offtopic, just musing out loud.

I was thinking, when I first saw Fen in the game, I was pleased but not blown away. there was no major droolage like I slobbered after Zev. I think thats because I like power. Thats my major attraction in just about everything. Cunning, sly, control. Those things make me pleased. It's why I almost always love antagonists more then protagonists. Protagonists seem to get dragged into problems and then with help drag themselves out. Antagonists control everything, from their actions, to their minions, to the situation.

Zevran had that off the bat, that control of his emotions and the people around him. Fenris didn't at first. He was the protagonist, being hunted, chased and completly not in control of his situation, he was merely keeping his head above water, slowly in the game I grew most of the "omg, must have" vibe from the show of power, his skills as a warrior, his control and calm in battle and his "this is what I think and I am right, leave off." attitude. I love that, loved it is Lucius too before book five. Love characters that can watch others implode with breakdown and tantrums and the go *pat pat* "Alright hunny." Cause they are just so far above letting themselves let go of their self contol like that.

Sooo, I have no idea what I am on about but yah, I love Fenris, not as much as I love Zev, my warden or my Hawkes, cause they are cool, powerful, where as I think Fenris could get there but right now his anger sits right below the surface and he contains it not. By then end of the game I think we will completely have his sh*t together. Be totally badass.

*musing over*

I need to go find more Zev and Fenris art. Posted Image

Edit: Okay thats it, If I had a comp I would totally change his hair black forever, sorry white haired Fenris but your darker twin is way hot. Posted Image

Okay, so on the topic of Leto, did anyone else make the connection that the last name of the lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars (the band that did the credits music for Origins) is Leto?  I wonder if that had anything to do with DG picking that name.

Also, Zevran and Fenris luuuurve!!!!

Oh Geez I hope not. I like what Arquen found out about his name meaning sunshine or something. Finding out it had anything to go with Jared Leto would be traumatizing. Not that I don't like Mr. Leto, he is totally hot and I love their music, but that would just be such a lame reason for the name Leto.

Lol, agreed, that would be very lame.  I was thinking more along the lines that the name was sort of in his head because of that.  I believe the only reason he's ever given for choosing Leto is "because [he liked] it".  I really like the "sunshine"/"he who is always happy" meaning that TV Tropes pointed out, it makes a really good contrast with who Fenris has become.  And it's sad.:crying:

It really is, I would hate to see Leto as a child, I imagine him with this huge bright smile, maybe a missing tooth running after his mother asking why she had to work all day. I doubt it had anything to do with picking the name, but all I know is I ADORE JARED LETO! He is my longest lasting celebrity crush EVER (going strong since 2003). Seriously, when I found out Fenris' name was actually Leto first time I did "Alone" in Act III, I was like OMG! I have a thing for guys names "Leto"!

Sorry, I just REALLY love Jared Leto, and I've always made a stupid connection between the 2 in my head, and I got all psyched up when I saw that you brought him up, hence my intense reaction:P

When I first read what the name Leto means on the Dragon Age Wiki, I had this sad sort of smile on my face. I immediately started picturing Fenris as a child, always happy, forever laughing, forever joking, messing around and playing with his sister, so filled with love and joy. And then... Danarius. Maker, I can't remember the last time I felt so furious at a fictional character! I love replaying the scene where Fenris crushes Danarius' throat on youtube. Call me sick, but that scene in intensely gratifying.

Love that pic, though I am in the dark brown camp.  Red head Leto is still a bad ass.

I always assumed Fenris was older, but who knows.  I have an image in my head of him being this exuberant, cheeky little hellion and Varania being very quiet and timid and needing her big brother to take care of her while their mother worked.  Uuuuuuggghhhh, Fenris, why is your life so TRAGIC????

Seeing this picture... it makes me sad when I think about how things turned out between the two siblings in "Alone". Its really sad, whether he kills his sister or not. The fact that she could betray him so easily, and her memory wasn't even wiped out, so you'd think that'd make it much more difficult for her to even think of doing such a thing! Didn't she remember how much she loved her brother back when he was Leto? The nerve of that woman! Fenris didn't even remember anything about her and he still went to great pains to seek her out and be with her.

The way he says "I would have given you everything" in that pained, tortured voice. Maker. Makes me tear up a bit.

Not touching the subject of Varania again for a good long while, that discussion was exhausting.

But yes, it's very sad on both ends.  Who knows what happened with her, but I always get all teary when Fenris says that "I am alone" at the end of the quest.  It's so hopeless and sad.  Thank the Maker Hawke can jump in and remind him he isn't really alone. ^_^
