It's a neat picture, ladyshamen, but to get it to display you need to link directly to the image for it to show up - the address should not include things like "/?action=view&&current=[filename]" - that means it's not linking to the image, it's linking to a webpage where the image is displayed, and thus it won't show up using img tags, The address you should be using looks like this: http://i1084.photobu...SylvaFenris.jpg

I've never tried one of the elf-Hawke mods because as much as I love playing as elves (almost all my DAO Wardens were elves - I just had the one Cousland, pretty much), it would bother me far too much that the story doesn't work with an elf (an elf trying to buy a mansion in Hightown? Riiight. Noble elf family? No way.), and because of the fact that things would happen like the Dalish still calling Hawke a shemlen, etc. I'm not usually one to cry 'immersion!', but those would just bother me. XD But I really hope they switch back to multiple race options in DA3.

Even though I love Fenris's regular outfit, he sure looks pretty damn nice in that coat/shirt thing he's wearing there.

GACK! One of these day's I'll get it right:) Thanks Harle for the help! And,yes, playing an elf is kinda weird as far as dialog/storyline goes. Just wanted to do something different once. Same for Fen's clothes. I like to change how things look for a little variety.
I'll try and get a good screenie of complete outfit!

Bahahahaha! Me too!Posted Image

So very sad of me. I just hate feeling left out, must have bonding Hawke for Fenris. Posted Image

Wait... what now?

I like my flame-red haired Hawke with Fenris.  It's a nice contrast (in my opinion).

Heh, I agree.  Anna's got black hair and Margaret's got red.  I like the contrast.

Besides, I'm going gray IRL.  I'd prefer they bonded over green eyes.  :D

I can't stand that mod. It makes Fenris wear shoes and look like Dante. >:C He is not effing Dante!

Well hello Fenris thread... I've been rather busy haven't checked in for a while, LOL.

Bleh, the coat... I don't really like the mods. I'm with Harle on the elf Hawke, while I absolutely love my elf Warden I cannot fathom playing an elf Hawke. It makes no sense within the story line.

The mod for the coat can be found at the Nexus -- HERE, along with the other popular mods for Fenris.

As I've said before I'm a Fenris purist. Right down to this brown leather armor. I love that armor. I don't like tampering with it. Plus, the coat reminds me of Dante from Devil May Cry, and while I love Dante I really don't like making Fenris look like him.

Also, I did try a white haired Hawke once, and I ended up changing it to black (that was Serah, my rogue). Gwenya(canon mage) has purple/black hair, Arqwen(rivalmage) has deep red/auburn hair, Arqueniel(warrior) has bright red hair, Luthien (friendmage) has blonde hair, Arquen(first mage) has brown hair, Lalaith (2nd rogue) has sandy blonde/brown hair, and Garrett (male archer) has mid-brown/reddish brown hair. So, I've pretty much covered the colors except for something exotic like pink/purple/blue etc. or white, LOL. I just didn't much like white haired Hawke. Not sure why.

I love it on Fenris, but I feel like my Hawke looks strange with it. Plus, I kind of maintain that the ritual caused his hair to turn white, so I don't think they would bond over it too much, except maybe offhand comments about "So, you think your hair was always that color?" to which Fenris would no doubt reply "I never really thought about it much." Seeing as he probably doesn't take much stock in his appearance.

As for Fenris POV writer's block. Whenever I'm looking for my inner Fenris I go to his dialogue packs or re-watch YouTube cutscenes (or my own Fraps). I also re-read his short story and listen to Fenris-y songs that always make me think of him. Though, I seriously have a little Fenris living in my head now. It creeps me out at times :?.

And ONE MORE THING before I scamper off to do things that need doing...

This...

LINK FOR NSFW-ness
by CarrotCakeBandit on DA -- haven't seen anything new from them in a while, this is WELL WORTH IT ^_^

And as far as coffee, black -- Fen sick is exactly how ME sick acts... seriously, some of those exact dialogues I have SAID before... it was surreal reading that chapter.<3

BTW- you don't have to put the boots on. You have several options with this mod. I'm pretending Hawke gave it to him as a gift. He's wearing it because he loves her. ( I had to come up with something! )

I have a little Zevran, so I know how you feel.  And the above is what I do when I can't hear his voice for something.  So, all good suggestions.

I love that coat mod and am happy it gives him boots since he should have had boots anyway if it wasn't for art department fail! I'm responsible for it having a pointy boot option since I requested that, haha, and the modder is lovely :)
I love his normal armour too (when it's black with a cold toned specular) I just like some variety and something a bit different for romance outfit.

The mods for him that I hate are the ones that change his facial features (the character creator is awful for making elves with and he looks great how he is anyway) or hair/eye colour.

Oh good. Posted Image not that it matters overmuch, since I can't download it anyway(play on the 360/my laptop loathes me trying to play games on it).
I actually love the shoelessness of the elves. Posted Image  not entirely sure why. Just love it. Posted Image

There doesn't actually seem to be any rule in that respect. Both among Dalish and city elves, some have shoes and some don't. Why is anybody's guess.

So long as Zev remains booted, I don't care.  After all, you give him some.

But, seeing Fenris with boots seems odd, I have to admit.

I'm not sure if I should be alarmed or not that the character in a book I'm reading somehow turns out looking and sounding like Fenris in my mind's eye.

Or that I'm drawing comparisons even when there are very, very few indeed...

Also, I'm presuming we're all familiar with the brilliantly written The Journal of Marian Hawke? I'm usually not a great fan of playthrough fics, but this one is just...utterly splendid

Hey, what was our Fanon regarding the language Fenris speaks?

Fanon?? LOL

Tevene, common-tongue, some Qunari (albeit badly according to Tallis), and that's it. I can't really count any others as ones he "knows."

Tevene is native language of Tevinter, and he is fluent in that. If that is what your referring to.

I recall there was a David Gaider quote, (I think it was from the person that met up with him in New Orleans I'm not sure), that went something vaguely along the lines of him having questioned the wisdom of the art team for making Fenris sans boots and being told that it was because Fenris, being free now, wanted to get in touch with his Dailish roots or something. To which DG's response was in the spirit of 'erm, no he doesn't!'.

I'm not sure how being shoeless makes one closer to the Dailish, but it is obvious they didn't bother reading much about the character as Fenris is clear in his disregard and even disdain for the Dailish so he'd hardly be wanting to emulate them or whatever.

I think the art for his feet is pretty, they are very nice feet and I like them, but I still prefer him with boots since it makes more sense that he, of all elves, would have them.

I don't understand why he doesn't wear shoes, but I like the fact that he doesn't. Is that weird?

Basically, I agree it makes no sense that he didn't have boots/shoes, and yeah DG said a long time ago that he basically had a back/forth argument with the art department about the shoes, and they would not budge. It wasn't something DG actually wanted from the sound of it, but it was the character design and art department's call in the end and they went with the "elven companions have no shoes" thing.

It truly is a mystery why exactly, and we go around and around about how some Dalish have shoes, Tallis has shoes, Zev has his boots, and pretty much all other elves (Dalish included) wear some kind of foot protection.

Fenris, not being Dalish and not even *LIKING* the Dalish, would have no reason to try and be like them by going shoeless. Possible head-canons/explanations for Fenris's shoelessness include...

1.) Danarius simply did not afford him shoes. Did not want to replace his shoes frequently, and so trained him without shoes.

2.) He was trained/raised/taught to be a warrior without shoes because of the natural prowess and extra stealth he could gain from not having shoes. Allowing him to move faster/be quicker and generally trained in some kind of fighting style that benefits from bare-footedness. Kind of goes with #1, but is more focused on "no shoes because of his training" than "no shoes because Danarius is a sadistic bastard."

3.) He doesn't like shoes, and doesn't want to buy/steal them. (seems unlikely, but is the Occam's razor response, lol.)

4.) He lost his shoes when he ran and hasn't bothered replacing them for 3 years, and learned that he fights better/is better off without them for some reason. Maybe since his time with the Fog Warriors? Perhaps gotten used to living/running/being more sneaky without them?

Feel free to add your own... in all reality it was an art department decision, and I think DG would have preferred him with shoes. Though now that he was presented with those beautiful lyrium marked feet and that graceful, feral, quick moving battle animations... I can't imagine him WITH shoes. It seems out of place and wrong.

Definitely this.
But I agree with you Arquen - and it may be a combo of all of these scenarios!

Yep - I first encountered that term in the Mass Effect threads. And now I'm imagining Isabela making her 'Apostitutes' comment when I'm thinking of FanCanon.

Pffft. I'm not sure I can take Tallis seriously on that topic personally. I know if it wasn't for her plot armor, Aniya (especially Act III Aniya) would be thinking, "B!|#h, please. Get back and let a pro show you how it's done." When Tallis picked the lock in the 'captured' scene, I'm thinking to myself, "While you were rambling on, Aniya picked the lock, snuck out, met up with Fenris and Varric, played some Diamondback, came back, and dropped your gear at your feet."

As a rogue, Hawke's comment when Tallis picks that lock had me thinking, "Really, Tallis and BW? Really?! Nice work on hiding that lock until Tallis 'sees' it. :?"

Besides, I don't care how badly Fenris speaks Qunari. He impressed the Arishok and more importantly, he sounds wonderful doing it. :D
